Deleted system app, screen wont turn off - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was deleting system apps on my galaxy core prime to turn it into an mp3 player. All was going well until i realised i cant turn off the screen with the power button. The power button works for turning it on and off, and even setting the screen to time out doesnt work. Does anyone know what app is responsible for this? I do have it rooted

Is it possible to listen to music with the screen off?

Is it possible to listen to music on the XDA with the screen off? ie just like when your talking on the phone and the screen is off but the speaker is still active.
If I turn the phone off with the power button the music stops, also the auto power off after time X doesn't kick in when Win Media Player is running.
Having the screen on all the time (even with the back light off) really drains the battery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
If you're using Windows Media Player, goto Tools, Settings, and then Buttons. You'll be able to map Screen Toggle to a key which will turn the screen on/off with the press of a button.

Hi!
Yes, you can do it too with other players like GSPlayer and Mort Player.
These players come with preset timer to off your screen to save battery power and at the same time allows you to listen to music.
resco audio thingy will do the same job, as will betaplayer.
be sure to enable the feature through options.
Also im sure there are many more programs that will do this for you.
(even just a backlight plug-in?)
w0rd.
Pocket Music Player 3 has this feature also. It's one of the better players I've found thus far.

phm power toys has a app that will turn off the display

Heres another little freeware app that I have been using for a while - gives an option on the Today screen to turn off display, and pressing one of the units buttons turns it back on.
Also gives on screen bar graph of the battery capacity (the main function of the program i think) plus main memory and expansion memory capacity/usage, plus a soft reset, ability to turn off auto power off and a few other things i cantremember.....
There has been a lot of notes from people who have installed and cant uninstall (although why you would want to is beyond me..) but if you go into settings/today/items/ select power check then options, there is all the configuration settings plus instructions on how to uninstall.
Cheers, Dave.
EDIT.... Might help if i pasted in the link huh... http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/powercheck.shtml
EDIT2... Worth mentioning that the default button to fire back up the screen is Button 1, which on the XDA2 is the top right button (calendar). Don't do what I did and try each of the buttons - couldnt work out what button 5 was so I selected it as the option to turn back on the unit - guess what - there is no button 5 on the XDA2.... soft reset wouldn't bring it back up, had to hard reset in the end... Please learn from my mistakes!!!

[Q] home button isn't working

I can't figure it out my home button on my mega was just working properly, and now it's not. How do I fix this? The home button no longer wakes my phone up. When my mega screen goes off i must press the power button on the side to get my screen to turn on. Please believe me when I say the system settings are enabling it to wake device. I did install pimp my android hrs before this occurred and I've carefully gone back through the modifications and nothing .still having the same issue, please help.
From my metropcs samsung galaxy mega
While using the phone, after it has been woken up, does the home button work?
If no, its clearly a hardware problem
if yes, a factory reset might do the trick

[SOLVED] Screen wont lock or turn off [SOLVED]

Hey, yesterday my rooted galaxy s3 with stock jellybean 4.3 stopped locking or even turning off the screen.
Nothing happens when I press the powerbutton, but when I hold it in the power menu comes up.
I've done a keytest in recovery and it clearly says 116 when I press the powerbutton.
I've also checked system/usr/keylayout and key 116 is set to wake.
I've tried multiple different 3rd party on screen turn off buttons, but all they do is lock the screen without turning it off.
I also tried setting screen timer to 15 seconds in stock settings and in different battery saving apps, but still nothing.
Please help!!

I'm installing Wakelock detector to see if it's a specific app keeping it on.
I solved the issue!
I thought this issue was weird since no app kept wakelock or anything that way.
So I started to go through recent changes I'd done to my device.
AND it turns out to be the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg files that caused this issue!
I renamed those two to get rid of my ugly boot animation! But it turns out you should NOT rename or delete those!

Help needed asap

Guys i was in my settings a few minutes ago and i came across a feature which enabled me to open up my notifications by just tapping the screen so i enabled it and went to the homescreen to test it! Upon tapping the screen the phone started maing a beeping noise and a blue line started scrolling continously downward on the screen! I cant turn the phone off ! I only seem to be able to reboot it which doesnt help! I needto power the phone off i assume and then maybe do a hard reset??? Advice needed please
anyone?
What setting did you access I don't believe anybody will be able to help if we don't know where you went and what you changed. The things you mention are very vague and don't really paint a picture of what is happening.
Also if you want to turn the phone off without using the on screen settings just hold onto the power button for about 10 seconds it should turn off, after that hold power, home button, and volume up to go into recovery to reset or what ever it is you please.
Also is it showing you an X and Y axis? If so then you just go into settings, developer settings, show screen updates and turn that off the grid should go away. I am not sure what your issue is but that seems like the most likely option.

Bluetooth controls not working when screen is turned off

Device
Oukitel K4000
Operating System
Android 5.1 (Stock)
Hello,
i got a general Android problem. As long as my screen is turned on, i can skip tracks with the controls on my bluetooth earbuds, does not matter if screen is locked or unlocked. But as soon as the screen is turned off, the controls stop working.
Googling the problem leads to nothing, because the only problem that shows up, is the one where controls don´t work on lockscreen.
But i got no issue there. Everything works as long the screen is turned on. As soon i turn it off, the controls stop working. I tried remapping keys with Button Mapper which doesn´t help.
Everything works as intended, i can skip (Spotify) tracks from Lockscreen, from homescreen, from everywhere. But as soon as the display turns off, i can´t skip tracks anymore via bluetooth. Changing volume still works tho! Also i can skip tracks with holding the volumebutton on the phone but not with the bluetooth controls.
Any fix for that?
Greetings, Schnoinsch
