Rooting does not work (Custom Recovery CWM installed successfully) - HTC Desire X

Hey there.
I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM.
But I fail at rooting the device. Each and every superuser.zip or SuperSU*.zip failed - the app is always installed (via CWM recovery) but the manager app claims that the binary does not exist after rebooting.
I tried SuperSU 2.74 beta (latest, https://download.chainfire.eu/supersu) and 1.80 among others.
Kingo Roots fails in the apk variant and keeps stuck in "installing drivers" when using the windows version.
I've been trying to root the device for about 10 hours now - any ideas?
Android is 4.1.1 stock
I dont want to use a custom rom, as from what I read they are not very "mature", but rather unstable.

I used TWRP instead of CWM - now it works.....

Yes, because you have Android JB, and the CWM recovery is unfortunetly is only for ICS, but the TWRP supports JB, so it works.

[Q] CWM working but SuperUser not flashing in CF+Odin Method

Hi, I'm following the instructions on ChainFire thread in the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
To root Samsung Galaxy S3 without flashing unsecure kernel.
This method, as I understand should flash the Clockwork and install SU.
So far I've flashed it like 4 times, it wont install superuser.
I've seen multiples videos, where after rebooting, it will show the linux like console and install SU, and what now, mine is not doing that. It will just boot Android and no SU.
In the About phone, it shows "Modified", and if I boot in recovery, I'm able to access ClockworkdMod, but so far no luck with SU.
Am I missing something?
My phone is I9300 plain, and I updated after I got it new, shows build number IMM76D.I9300UBALF3
I'm running an international version, which I'm not sure if its the same as the European version used in the toolkit, hence I didnt want to risk it flashing the insecure kernel that comes with that toolkit.
I've tried booting in CWM and try to just flash the SU zip that comes with
CWM-SuperSU-v0.92.zip
and the one from the toolkit 2.0 (think its SU 3.0.7 or something), both will fail the signature check thing and wont install.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advanced.

JellyBean CWM Manager Problem

Hi there,
yesterday I updated from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 with Kies.
It's the German Version XXDLID.
After the upgrade I wanted to re-root my phone. I used Odin and CF-Root 6.4.
Odin showed, that the first try was a succes. But I did gain root permissions.
So I tried it again and it worked this time. (strange?)
The installed app "CWM Manager" was able to do a backup with the recent 4.0.4. But when I open
that app with 4.1.1 it keeps saying:
"This version of CWM manager should be used with CF-CWM v1.1 or newer.
It appears you are running a different recovery. Various features have been disabled."
Do I need to wait for a new CF-Root version or is there a fix available?
CWM manager needs an update for Jelly Bean
But you are still able to make backup if you reboot in recovery
as above....it's just the app, boot into recovery and all usual options are there
yeap, CWM needs a little update for JB support.
But I've done several backups/restores since I flashed JB with no problems.
Ok, that's what I thought.
I really liked the CWM App, hopefully there's an update soon.
Thank you all

Latest CWM SuperUser flashable zip

Hi, folks,
I have pretty much wasted the past 3-4 hours trying to get cwm superuser to work.
I installed .314 UK generic firmware using FlashTool & unticked wipe data, then used TowelRoot v12 to root then flashed NUT's dual recovery but no matter what cwm superuser flashable zip I use I cant get it to work right, it always prompts me to use recovery install when I open the SuperUser app, tried that but I just get error saying there was a error installing SuperUser. If I disable SuperUser then install SuperSU & SuperSU pro from market I get root access but SuperSU has always had issues with AdAway applying the hosts file so I switched to CWM SuperUser when I was on .402 firmware.
I did have the flashable CWM zip file but can no longer find it
Really need some help with this.

If you're not on CWM, you can't use CWM SuperUser. Install SuperSU and use that. You can also switch to AdFree which is what I use. You'll also need to install XZDualRecovery to be able to write to /system.
Sent from my SGP311 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for the reply
I was using CWM superuser with no issues on .402 UK generic & Philz recovery, I have always had issues with SuperSU both on my old Galaxy S3 with custom roms & now on my Z2, most of the time with SuperSU any app that needs root access will freeze due to the delay in SuperSU showing the alert & as I mentioned above with AdAway not being able to apply the hosts file 90% of the time.
I also have Dual Recovery installed but keep losing it, seems that using the NDR tools app it installs causes the phone to forget that the recoveries are installed.
Just want some help with this issue & it would be great if someone could post a working kitkat CWM superuser flashable zip.
Can anyone else help me with this?
Have just done a full wipe & used Flashtool to install UK generic .314, have used EasyRoot 12.1 to root & it says I'm rooted. I then install CWM SuperUser from market & when opening it says the su binary needs to be updated & only gives recovery install or cancel options, I chose recovery & it reboots into Philz recovery & says it has installed but Philz says root is broken. When I boot the phone again I get a notification from SuperUser saying the binary needs to be updated again but when I tap recovery it just says there was a error.
Really would appreciate some help here as I need to get AdAway installed, change the DPI & use the nextapp kitkat SD fix app.
Cheers.
EDIT: forget it, got it fixed myself, now CWM superuser is working fine.

[Q] Help installing CWM/TWRP for Galaxy S4 SGH-i337

Hello  I'm kind of new to modding android and ran into a few issues. Basically I want to get Paranoid Android on my Galaxy S4 sgh-i337 running 4.4.2.
I rooted my device using towelroot but have failed to install a custom recovery. Both CWM and TWRP said they installed successfully but ended up with the same problem; when I selected reboot in recovery mode it would reboot saying Samsung Custom and then go into odin mode saying "Could not do normal boot".
I'm not sure if I installed CWM/TWRP correctly, as all the guides I found online were outdated. I installed the recoveries from the corresponding apps (CWM - ROM manager, TWRP - TWRP manager)--but like I said, both apps said recoveries were successfully installed. I also tried getting CWM using Loki on my phone + terminal emulator, but the terminal said something about loki not being the correct version for my device.
In CWM I tried the option to flash a custom ROM from sd card, but it didn't seem to recognize any files on the card while the normal samsung storage did.
So now I'm really confused and frustrated and can't seem to find answers anywhere. I would be really grateful if someone could guide me in the right direction in an easy to understand way.
Thanks for any help!

root cutom ROM recovery

Hello
I have a Samsung i9100G running ICS 4.0.3, build no. iml74k.jplp6, baseband i9100gxxlpr, and kernel is 3.0.8 [email protected]#2
I used to have it rooted via "one click root", and had CWM recovery.
After installing Slimkat rom, the recovery automatically became TWRP.
One of my friends wiped the entire phone, and the only way to fix was to restore the original FW "I9100GJPLP6_I9100GOJPLP5_I9100GXXLPR_HOME.tar".
Now, I can not root it, install CWM or TWRP recovery to install any other ROM.
I have searched a lot on xda but I am a rookie.
What I know is I have to root first then install custom recovery, but I can not find the root tool for my device and the custom recovery.
Flashify, rom manager, and other tools always see both recoveries but can not execute anything.
You could try to use different root methods. I used KingoRoot for PC to root mine. Hope I got your problem...
Why cant you root it?
Can you boot into recovery of Stock ROM?
KingoRoot does not support i9100g.
I can boot to the stock recovery.
