Hi
I have Coolpad E501 EU (other names: Modena, Y76, Sky). It's dual sim, stock android 5.1, rooted, stock recovery.
After last mini update (9,2 MB) coolpad logo is showing and then it goes only to recovery. Phone was rooted using KingRoot app, and then applied update so I bet it was a mistake to do so.
I have second one same Coolpad phone - working, rooted, stock android, stock recovery. So it might help in restoring bricked one.
I searched almost everywhere on the internet looking for stock roms, recovery or something that I can flash.
I tried using YGDP tool with 4.4 official rom that I found but no luck. I get the message "Bootloader is old" in logs.
Tried to do backup with nandroid of working phone but it's making backup for custom recovery (cwm - .tar or twrp - .wim). My phone doesn't have one.
Recovery has an option to apply update from zip. Last update that messed up is here:

I dont care about data., only working system.
Anyway I appreciate some help how to bite that, any ideas how to revive that phone. I was trying to do a system.img backup of /system partition in working phone, but no luck, partition is in ext4. I thought I can restore that using adb.
I will answer any questions if something I wrote is not clear. I'm not afraid of adb, flashed many phones, so I'm not looking for step by step tutorial, only to someone point me in right direction to solve this problem

I found some custom roms and some software on chinese site, but cant flash them and I think it's because bootloader isn't unlocked. I tried unlocking it but no luck (using android sdk).
can you give me backup you made,i have twrp recovery,if you want it i can give it to you but pleas help me with that backup

I have twrp for this phone, but I cant flash it. Every time I try to send a command in fastboot mode I get the message: "FAILED (remote: unknown command)". How did you flash it? Did your bootloader was unlocked in developer settings? Mine wasn't so I think I'm screwed.
Backup I have is with my personal data.

then you shuld get your phone in official service,i send my and they said they are going to fix it,and i installed twrp whyle my phone worked with flashify i think

Is yours problems solved? I have soft bricked Coolpad Modena E501_EU and can't find solution.
Searching everywhere on internet, not find nothing about that phone: kernels, drivers, firmwares etc., like "ghost phone". Firmware version 4.4 is for E501-Y76-Sky but not for EU model and cannot be flashed. I need stock 5.1.222.........Y76_U00 and if can someone make backup and upload somewhere he helped me a lot.

I have a fairly old phone. I don't have those big flagship phones, like Samsung, or HTC, or Google, or anything. I'm a poor student, and have an old MTK android phone. I currently live in Bangladesh, so..... I have an Okapia Magic. (Do a google search!)
I rooted it yesterday, using kingroot apk, and checked it with root checker. Root was successful. I installed and then uninstalled Busybox, and installed Xposed framework. I installed, activated some modules, like Gravitybox KK and adblocker. Later, I uninstalled Gravitybox. My phone didn't have a custom recovery, so I thought I could flash TWRP on it, and then a custom ROM I had downloaded before. I tried to install twrp, but failed. Then, I used SP Flash Tool to flash a rom, but my scatter file had some errors, (comment for errors below). I formatted it using sp flash tool, and now my whole damn phone is empty... (Sorry for my language, excuse me.)
Now, I need it fixed ASAP, also, I'm broke. How do I fix my phone now ? It doesn't boot. It doesn't do anything, no recovery, nothing.
The device was running android 4.4.2, and its an mtk6572.
Pls halp, asap.

Unless you know what you're doing or you have a ROM backup, you never format your phone.... NEVER. Anyways what were the errors in SP Flash Tool?

This error is quite easy to solve. Take out the battery and flash the preloader of the Stock ROM. The flash then entire ROM after then preloader's been flashed.

The stock ROM I downloaded from androidmtk.com didn't work. SP Flash tools showed the error 4032, saying that DRAM failed, and please check the loading target matches......etc etc......
What do I do now ? Can someone help me find a working stock rom ? Or maybe just help me get the preloader / recovery ?

I'll start by saying that i know i messed up realy bad and it is my fault, but i'm trying to revert this to no avail..i wouldn't make this post if haven't tried every possible solution i found.
So let's start,
I have a honor 7 PLK-L01 as the tittle says, i recently unlocked and rooted my phone, but i didn't make any backup (i know :/) because TWRP was in chinese..
After that i got into a bootloop, and i tried installing stock roms i got from here and other places, i tried every possible solution for 2 days now..
The only ROM i could get working was "PLK-UL-TL-CL_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_5.12.16" (can change language to english tho but some menus are still in chinese.),
wich is chinese and says my ip isnt supported when i try to log in to honor and comes with tons of chinese bloatware.
It only worked flashing with adb, flashing through dload (error when i tried to update) and TWRP (always get the error "No md5 file found") didnt work..
I've tried these full version ROMs and always end up in a boot loop:
PLK-L01C432B100
PLK-L01C432B121
PLK-L01C432B130

I've tried using adb manual and using multitool, getting the same resuslts..(always using latest versions)
I dont understand how that a chinese rom could work tho, as it says on the info that it's the version PLK-C00B618 and my phone is PLK-L01(at least i think it is...the box where it came says it is the L01...), must be a custom ROM of some sorts?
So i was wondering if i could get some help on what i am doing wrong.
I just want to get back to stock with auto updates like i was before, and only mess with this when there's stable custom ROMs available..and always doing backup ofcourse (silly me..)!

Maybe i can help you in a few things. So first thing, you should try to download the official rom from here: www hihonor.com/global/support/search-result/?keywords=honor%207 and try to install from an SD card. Your TWRP is chinese but the location of the buttons is the same than the english version, so you can figure, what option is need for you. (google can help you, check the pics from the TWRP menu). And if you already installed this ROM, you can change the TWRP for an english version. (i found the good link in this article: www cyberkey.in/root-honor-7-install-twrp-recovery-100-working/
P.s.: I am sorry about the broken links, but i am a new user, so i can not use outside links yet.

I got TWRP in english after that using the multitool.
I've already tried that official rom you mentioned. When i try to install from TWRP, i get an error on instalation: "Skipping MD5 file check: no MD5 file found", from what i understand twrp can only be used to flash custom ROMs right?
If i use the only ROM that worked (PLK-UL-TL-CL_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_5.12.16), to try to manual update, gives an error that i have the wrong version for that update (makes sense since the version that shows on phone info is PLK-C00B618), so this must be a custom rom or a beta release?
The only way i can install a ROM is through odb, wich ends up in a bootloop whenever i try any stock ROM, even tried the 6.0 beta that froze my screen at honor logo instead of looping..
I install with odb using
fastboot flash boot BOOT.img
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
fastboot flash cache CACHE.img
fastboot flash cust CUST.img
Or multitool unbrick tool (flashboots BOOT, SYSTEM, RECOVERY and CUST).
Maybe it has something to do with root? version maybe? i've tried without SU, with TWRP version, with lastest stable version 2.65..and just can't get it working :/
The thing that is confusing me the most, is why that 5.1.1 version works and all others don't, im doing the exact same thing for all of them..
Just want to get back to stock..
Try installing full b121 through fastboot commands. Phone should bootloop, but that's fine for now. Then flash b170 boot and recovery, and your phone should start normally.

Did exactly like you said and it worked like a charm, after instaling boot and recovery from b170 it booted and then i updated with full b121 from sd card.
Everything is working perfectly now. Can't thank you enough!
I'd never find that out by myself...i was just trying to flash full roms :/

i was on exodus and recently moved to oos 3.1.4 after flashing he new bootloader and then the debloated rom that i found here for OOS3.1.4.After that i cud boot into the modified twrp but when i faced freezes i thought of going back to fully stoock.However even after flashing OOS3.1.4 stock i am unable to see OOS recovery.When i move into \bootloader mode i end up with just a one plus symbol.
i tried flashing OPX recovery using adb and fastboot but to no avail.I then tried flashing modified twrp.That worked but no matter what i do i can neither install OPX recovery nor can i use the mega unbrick guide as my phone shows up as relink USB.....
Could somebody please guide me?

Go through the mm bootloader update threads and you will find your answer.
Thing is I have now installed OS 2.2.x.still the recovery is missing

No don't think you need that just issue with how you updated your bootloader. Go through similar threads as yours and you will find your answer.
havent found an answer.Thats because very thread speaks of installing twrp modified etc.i already said i am able to do that.What i am unable is that even after flashing OOS3.1.4 without root i am not able to see oos recovery.also flashing oos recovery seperately doesnt fix it.it just then gives me the one +logo on vol down+power...until i flash twrp bluspark again.how to return my phn to factory condition?can somebody who has faced this help me?
This is now resolved.the mega unbrick guide is good but there's a catch.smtimes u don't get the qusb_bulk.i have seen one for one plus two to fix the RELINK_USB issue but that too never worked.what finally worked was one written for mui for Xiaomi in particular and for devices in general.

Can't install any OS (tried via ADB commands and flashing custom roms via TWRP).
Whatever I try, it just boots to TWRP.
ADB commands do work because I managed to install TWRP 3.0 and 3.1 for the Moto Z Griffin
Bootloader is unlocked
This device was working fine on Stock Noughat (installed via ADB) and AOKP (installed via TWRP).
Problems began when the camera "failed to start" and in my frustration, I wiped everything via TWRP including system, so now I have no OS.
Not sure why I can't get anything to install.

followed that guide
Had this working for months and needed to wipe so I did a factory reset and all my phone does is boot to twrp
I tried this process again and all goes good or so it seems but just boots to twrp
I tried a restore from my backup from twrp and get all the way done and it fails on "unable to wipe Fsg."
Above there is a bunch of red failed:
Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto foooter
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder
Failed to mount'/cache' (invalid argument)
failed to mount'/system'(invalid argument)
Failed to mount storage
failed to mount'/data'(invalid argument)
failed to mount'/cache'(invalid argument)
failed to mount'/data/media/twrp'(invalid argument)
unable to wipe fsg.
any ideas? right now just a brick here. i have tried flashing roms from twrp and still just boot to twrp
I'm assuming you tried to flash the stock ROM via fastboot?
If so, I'm a little at a loss here. Although since you have TWRP, try flashing the stock ROM along with its recovery following the guide linked below;

And grab the firmware for your device here;
https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto Z/Stock/XT1650-03/
Make sure it's the correct firmware for your device. If you updated to Nougat via an OTA, you have to flash a Nougat ROM. You may also use the one linked in the XDA article, although I can't guarantee its stability.

Maybe it's because I haven't had my coffee yet, but is there a US 7.0 file on that site? I can only find the 6.0 version. I'm on Rodgers nougat rom I flashed a couple weeks ago and I'd like to get on the US version since I've been having apn issues

Sadly, no.
As of right now, there's only a Marshmallow-based RETUS firmware. It'll take a while for someone to post firmware that's Nougat-based for RETUS.

Again, there's sadly no TWRP-flashable firmware for 7.0 RETUS.
There's only one for TELUS. While it works on other XT1650-03s with unlocked BLs, can't guarantee that it's all stable.

I know this thread is old but maybe this will help someone out. I had the exact same problem after a Factory Reset my phone went on a TWRP bootloop. To resolve it, just reboot into Bootloader and then select Factory Mode. My phone just started as new.

Thank you for this!!!!!!! It solved my boot loop problem too after installing stock via fastboot. Only thing that worked.

thanks for the Rescue same trick work for me though as i was been stuck on TWRP after flashing stock firmware via fastboot , so i manage to flash irfan v4 stock rom and booted to factory image to get it resolved , But now i want to move to complete stock without twrp as i think Oreo update is near by but i get the same issue again, Just wanna ask can u help me out with the process to go back to stock Rom

that worked for me also, but it's not a fix, its a workaround. is there an actual fix for this? I've tried the Verity_FE_patcher but that didn't work also.

I could not find any custom Roms for your device.
I could find an stock Rom for the Mya-l41 trough.

That should be an update.app or an flashable zip.
You may get Huawei Update Extractor and extract the system.img and boot.img of the update.app

ok, so i found what i thought was a stock rom for my device on some spanish forum and used sp flash tool to install it
problem is, sp flash tool formatted my phone, but encountered an error trying to install the firmware and now my phone wont boot and windows says its not recognised
is there any fix to this? or is my phone bricked?
hey again! i know this post has been a wild ride of me doing stupid stuff and bricking my phone, but i got the firmware back!
only catch is that i'm receiving some nvram error (which i got on my previous phone too. i swear this is the last time im going mediatek), so if anybody has a method that can fix this it'd be highly appreciated

You should root with Magisk, it's systemless and it should not affect updates. If you want to update you should flash stock recovery. After you updated you are free to flash Twrp again if you want. If you are rooted with SuperSU you should uninstall SuperSU and install Magisk
