Possible to encrypted rooted phone? - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a used LG V10 by T-mobile. It's unlocked and rooted, with a custom debloated ROM from XDA developers. I run it on the ATT network.
Question, can I encrypt it using the stock encryption feature that comes with it? Will encryption brick it?

[Q] t mobile gs5 rooted and unlocked, will stock rom remove carrier unlocked

hey everyone, I don't post much but I read a lot and I appreciate everyone's work. I have a quick question regarding my tmobile galaxy s5. I bought it and unlocked it to use on AT&T because it has the unlocked bootloader. I installed twirp, remove some bloatware, and it's been great. I want to remove twirp but I believe that flashing the stock rom is the only option. Is this true? I have the stock image and can flash it via Odin I'm just curious as to whether it will remove the carrier unlock. of course I paid for the unlock code and I don't want to do it again. I would like to sell this phone with it being unlocked because that widens the market. so does anyone know how I can unroot this phone other than flashing the stock image, and if that's the only way after I do it will the carrier unlock still be there?
Galaxy s5
Galaxy tab pro 8.4
You will keep the unlock. You can easily find the stock recovery files as well. That way you don't lose all of your stuff with a full Odin flash.

Rooted & unlocked question

I'm selling my Sprint Note 3 that I had rooted before the lollipop upgrade. Since then I put a lollipop rom on it.
Two stupid noobie questions that I couldn't find answers to when I searched ..
1. Since I'm rooted am I also unlocked ... can he use an att Sim card and use it on att?
2. Do I need a specific rom that would make this possible ... or is there a way to test it to prove to him that it works?
Thanks for the answers.
Just FYI... There's a difference between unlocked carrier and unlocked boot loader.
You do not need a custom ROM to use another Sim card, but you need to unlock the carrier on the phone
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Is there a way to tell if I did a carrier unlock? I don't really even remember what method I used to root it.
You unlock the boot loader to flash a custom rom?
To sim unlock you would have had to run SSU.app or GT.app to international unlock then odined a older radio mj4 or mi3. Then change the APNs to match the carrier's settings for internet and mms messages.
I called sprint and got the master unlock codes ... is there an easy way to unlock it now that I have those?

Verizon phones typically have unlockable bootloaders.
If you have the MDK build you can unlock the bootloader, flash custom recoveries, roms, etc. root and such. You would need to become familiar with using Odin. From your post it would seem you are confusing sim unlock with bootloader unlock. Sim unlocked merely means you can use the phone with any service providers. Provided the radios are compatible.
If the build is other than MDK you may be able to use Safestrap to load custom roms.
All tricky. Do a lot of research first.
All galaxy phones s3 s4 s5 s6 etc are world unlocked you can put a any Sim card in it and it will switch to global network your carriers will not tell you this information

Can a carrier unlocked phone get a custom ROM if its not rootable?

My model is Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (G-928V). The phone is unlocked for any use of any sim card (currently using it on t-mobile).
When looking around on the XDA forums no such root method exists for this model sadly. But since my phone is carrier unlocked can i still install and flash custom roms or even twrp recovery? I may not necessarily need root but it would be nice to be on a custom rom like Resurrection remix or pheonix. Any suggestions? is a custom rom possible on a non rootable phone model?

sprint lg v30 can i flash other carrier roms

When i had my galaxy s7 on sprint i was able to flash other carrier roms and unlocked version roms through samsung flash tool .Can this be done with lg phones on some kind of flash tool ? Sorry for question just was wondering i use to flash unlocked version on my sprint v30 to have a bloat free phone
So the question I have is this. If you are going to root and unlock the phone anyway, why not just remove the bloatware on the phone? Why concern yourself with other carriers?
If all the carriers are equal as far as communication frequencies are concerned, then unlocking the phone is all you really need. Once unlocked (you don't even need to root for this) you can go to any carrier.
I could do that without root. And flashing unlocked version rom has no carrier bloat. Also i said nothing about rooting

If memory serves and may not, so unless something has changed, flashing any function on an android phone requires root access.

"Unlock" has different meanings in a dev forum. You mean carrier unlocked, SIM card unlocked. Not bootloader unlock.
U.S. Cellular has SIM card unlocked, carrier unlocked version. The "open market" version which will be released in early December will be both carrier unlocked and will be eligible for official bootloader unlock.
You basically want to convert your phone to another phone? Yes, with Samsung phones you can do something like that with Odin. I have a friend who bought UK Galaxy S8 and flashed Australian ROM (with Samsung Pay) through Odin. He's not rooted and doesn't want root.
There is an LG flash tool, to flash KDZ and TOT firmware:

I know with the V20 H910, once Dirty Santa was patched in order for someone to root their phone, they had to basically flash their phone to an older Freedom ROM, which was not yet patched, then install some engineering mode module, and then run Dirty Santa.

So, some of what you're are asking can be done. But that ROM flashing was temporary and on some carriers you would lose signal. It was just a step to getting the bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. Then the regular H910 ROM was reinstalled, and all signal functionally restored.
____
NOTE: this is a very simplified answer to the question. There are even "patched" versions of the tools to allow you to flash versions you aren't supposed to.

No, after the V20 LG has now added signature checks so you can't flash other variants to convert to another.
This was not widely known a few months ago. We thought that V20 trick would still work.
Too bad.
