It works, it's just that it over compensates in the dark.
I know there is probably not much that can be done about it, just thought I'd ask.
I think the Auto brightness is adjustable.
I agree it gets too dim, but works fine in normal lighting conditions.
The brightness is adjustable, manually. I have not found any means of adjusting the bounds of the auto brightness mode. It is the low intensity limit that needs adjustment.
I would like to be able to have a feature like adaptive brightness like what's on pure Android without a third party app...

While on auto brightness tap the sun burst directly opposite the checked auto brightness. Voila!
0-50-90
But then the whole phone goes dim. We want the brightness of the 2nd screen to stay bright at all times so we can see it.

Awesome! Didnt know about that feature!
I find the auto brightness is a little too dim. I would prefer if it was 10-15 points brighter than what the algorithm chooses. Now I leave auto brightness off in most cases of active use

I'm getting old and my eyes are going bad. I find that while using Waze at night with auto-brightness on, the screen gets too dim for me to see well. I'm wondering if there's an easy way to keep the screen from dimming below around 40% regardless of the ambient light level.
It's possible with the application macrodroid. You need to create a macro. Trigger is opening Waze and action is set brightness to your liking.
The watch battery was not lasting very long for me, because to appreciate the watch faces the brightness was almost to the top., too low brightness and you do not get the depth definition of the watch face. (3d effect). So I gave the auto brightness a try but it doesn`t work with the AOD on, I cannot see the screen in day light until the screen change to the regular watch face.
Since I got the a21 I noticed that when I'm out with auto brightness on it adapt to the sun but once I'm home the brightness slider goes all the way down
and pretty much stay there unless I go near a light.
Is there a way to recalibrate the auto brightness?
As per the title, is it possible to stop the screen brightness going into 'boost' mode when outside, whilst keeping autobrightness on? Often when it's not that bright outside, the screen defaults to maximum brightness which washes it out and wastes battery
This is typically only possible with a custom kernel.
