Galaxy J500FN Root and twrp issues - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried 5 times different odin versions and CF-Auto Root and it fails. Last time my phone starts up with a message that i need to do emergency recovery with kies. But kies never detected my phone. I got samsung drivers and Odin connect with the phone just fine. But not kies i have tried troubleshooting in kies manys times and it fails. Used both kies and kies lite.
Are there any other ways to root my phone without the CF tool?
And do I have to be rooted to install twrp?
The phone is bricked now I have it on download mode. Tried downloading stock firmware from sammobile but they are always corrupted when using 7zip or winrar.
Many questions in one post hope you can help me out.
"Edit" Debug mode is on and OEM. But I dont know if that matter now when its bricked.

[Q] Bricked phone

Hi guys
I have a factory gs2, I was updating the kernel using kies and the phone decided to give off an error.
The phone and kies ask me to restart the phone and retry the installation but the phone is no longer detected by kies. The computer recognises the usb device and loads Samsung drivers but nothing else
Currently the phone shows a black screen with a phone exclamation mark and a computer. I am able to put the phone in odin mode.
I cannot access the phone using adb on my pc.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this, as I ideally need to retrieve some files on the phone (but not a big deal) I really just need my phone working.
Thanks
Go into download mode and root you're phone.

Didn't know you could update just the kernel with kies, anyhoo if that's all you were doing try to reflash a stock'ish kernel through odin. If that doesn't work you'll need to flash the stock firmware through odin, then you'll have access to your files on the sdcard.
The above comment should suffice
This thread has original firmwares and Kernels and this thread has rooted kernels
And use Odin to flash kernels unless they are CWM flashable
And backup your EFS Floder
Thanks everyone. I followed the instruction for how to root a g2 and it worked!

If you don't have it then install Samsung Kies on your PC this will install the correct up to date drivers, then connect your phone and make sure you get the message saying drivers being installed, once done run Odin again.
Make sure Kies is not running at the same time as Odin as it wont work if Kies is running.
Use CF Auto Root link in my signature

Give a thank if i helped you.
If you have kies installed then odin won't work. Go read the basic guides in general forum, stick threads.

Odin will work if Kies is installed but not if its running in the task bar.

Not sure what you mean by my computer still don't recognize my phone when it turned off , if your phone is turned off then no, your computer wont recognise it, because its turned off.
If you installed Kies then the correct drivers will be installed, you start Kies then plug your phone in and make sure Kies recognises it, once that is done close Kies as you don't need it any more, disconnect your phone from your PC and turn it off.
If you have Odin installed already then you need the correct CF Auto root zip from my signature and extract the MD5 file from inside it, start Odin then boot the phone into download mode and plug it into your PC, once its connected click the PDA button in Odin, find the MD5 file then flash it to your phone.
Let your phone reboot and you will have root, you may need to update SuperSU from Play Store to the latest version
Keep Kies up to date by running it now and again to check for updates, this will keep your drivers up to date just ensure it is not running at the same time as Odin as Odin will fail if it is.

[Q] Unable to unbrick

Phone is SCH-I545
My trouble started when I upgraded to 4.4.2 while rooted..
Afterwards I had phone randomly restarting problems. (And when I upgraded OTA, the bar was stuck for hours and I had to pull the battery to restart phone and get past the Android guy.)
So learned about Odin and thought Id fix by flashing a stock rom.
Odin wouldnt work and when I pulled the plug and went to restart, phone gives me firmware upgrade encountered error message.
Tried resetting.
Tried booting into Safestrap.
Tried every recovery with Odin.
Tried both versions of Kies which odly, Kies wont recognize my IMEI so technically unable to try Kies.
Where do I go from here?
Odin will help u out . First of all check the drivers uninstall them and reinstall the drivers then restart the pc and try it again if it occurs again try to change the usb port and check out the cable ... Btw which odin firmware you are trying to FLash and what was your firmware before flashing ??

[Q] S2 GT-I9100G firmware upgrade encountered issue

I have a samsung galaxy S2 Model GT-I9100G. I was trying to flash a custom recovery CWM using odin and it apparently showed FAILED. The phone rebooted and ever since its been displaying the message "Error: Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" . I cant get into download mode of my phone to flash anything. I installed kies and my phone is being detected by odin. Can anyone help me with the issue, I have a nandroid backup too.
Is it possible to flash through odin without my phone getting into dowload mode? How can i unbrick my phone...Any help will be appreciated.
The phone is in download mode now. Just use Odin and flash the right things.

GT-I9205 not booting into recovery or able to flash with odin

My mega is in a bad way, I cannot access recovery or even flash anything through Odin. Odin gets stuck at initialization. I have tried various versions of Odin and tried with 2 Samsung cables and different PC's!.
Any ideas guys?
Hi,
When I soft bricked my i527m mega I had only 'download mode' left.
You can try to install KIES on your PC from samsung website. There is KIES, KIES Lite, KIES 3. I used KIES for my mega. I don't know if it helps, but if so you will have a stock samsung rom installed at the end on your mega with the proper carrier modem.
- Put your mega in download mode and connect to PC.
- in KIES klick on firmware update. If your phone doesn't connect you'll have to provide the model number and the S/N number. (you can find S/N under the battery on a sticker)
- The whole thing takes about 30-40 min.
- If it stops during download, try againg. I had to do it 3 times to get through the whole process.
Good luck.
