Hi everyone,
My Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-i9300) is 3.5 years old and is currently running latest Official CM 13 Nightlies ROM. Since last week, it is showing a complaint. My phone restarts at regular intervals. Most of the times, I do not let the phone discharge completely and so the android uptime will show even 15 or more days. But right now, my phone is unable to keep it running up itself for not more than two hours. Whenever I check my phone's uptime, it does not show more than 2 hours. This restarting occurs mainly when the screen is off. But when I work on the phone such as browsing or calling or watching videos, it restarts very rarely. Also sometimes, when I check my phone, it shows no network although full coverage is available in my area. At the same time, my phone will be having no sound at all (no keypad tone, no ear speaker sound, no loud speaker or music sound etc). At that time, sound will not be available even in the head phones also. Network and sound comes back after few minutes, but the issue occurs in regular intervals.. Sometimes the problem will be with network only and sometimes there will be no network and no sound. This network and sound issue started occurring at the same time when the restarting issue began.
Steps Tried :
1. I have completely factory reset my phone. I have erased system, data (including internal storage), cache and dalvik cache partitions and re-flashed most android versions (cm 11, 12 and 13) including my samsung stock jellybean rom. All roms are working in my phone. But this restarting issue occurs in all roms (even when no additional apps are installed, sim card and memory card are removed)
2. I have changed the battery and this issue (restarting and no network/sound) occurs in new battery also.
3. I have removed all connections from mainbaord which can be removed by hand except the display connector. (Removed front camera, back camera, sim/memory card tray connector, speaker/earphone jack connector, volume button connector etc) and kept the phone on. But the restarting issue still occurs.
Can anyone suggest me any solution?

Hi, I've just got my new samsung i9100.
Mostly I'm happy with it. But sometimes it just can't play any sound, including ringtone, media sound and even voice during call. It usually happens after playing some music.
Furthermore, when I try to adjust sound volume in this situation, the phone responds very slowly and finally it crashes and auto-reboot.
I bought this i9100 in NL and just have upgraded the system to KE2 through samsung kies. Is this problem a general software bug or does my phone have some hareware problem?
I've tried some customized rom, and the problem still exists.
Factory reset and wipe ???
Followed by original rom and return to seller .

I've got the same problem. The phone sometimes suddenly stops playing sound. When I then adjust the volume it freezes (the volume indicator) and after several seconds it just reboots.
I am not sure what is causing this. Will check the log as soon as it happens again.
Edit:
I suspect it has something to do with access to the sound resources. Also, programs cannot save anything when this happens.
Probably one of the partitions (sdcard?) is unmounting or not getting (re)mounted after it was used over USB on a PC?
GT-i9300 - CyanogenMod 12.1, Random Encryption at power loss - lost all my data!
Hi
I have been running CyanogenMod 12.1 and Android 5.1 on my GT-i9300. I replaced battery (with a genuine one) as when running apps it gobbles up power (I think the S III / S3 / GT-i9300 struggles with Andoird 5.1).
Towards the end of the day, the battery is usually shot if I have been using SatNav and Facebook and I have been in weak mobile reception areas.
I discovered, to my horror, that if this phone loses power mid-session, i.e. without power down, it then, when re-charged, reboots and gives the familiar blue Encryption Unsuccessful screen with the only option being "Reset Phone".
It did it twice to me, and the first time I thought someone had tampered with it as I had left it backstage at a gig charging. However, the second time, I pre-empted it: I had encrypted the phone this time so that it didn't encrypt it for me. And it was in my pocket when it failed. That shield was ineffectual, and it powered down irretrievably shortly after I had been taking photos with the flash with very low battery.
As bugs go this is a pretty fundamental one. Does the error lie with a) my hardware or b) some aspect of CyanogenMod 12.1 or Android 5.1?
I used a YouTube video as the source of the zip files for the flash, and the phone was rooted with ClockWorkMod (CWM) running.
Had it happened once, I would have put it down to experience (or blamed a prankster), but it happened twice, and it seems that it is related to power-handling and an inability to leave itself in a fit state to reboot.
I have since this reset the phone, and vowed to back up more frequently.
If it happened again, does anyone have any tips for how to not have to reset the phone (and hence lose photos, text messages and phone logs?
Cheers

I rooted my phone a month or two ago using odin and TWRP recovery, and I also flashed a new rom (Resurrection Remix 6.0.1). I have since had constant issues with my bluetooth headphones, which are the only bluetooth device i use with this phone. I have searched online and looked at many forums but I couldn't find very much information to help me. My issue is that there are random times where the audio from my headphones gets very choppy and unintelligible, kind of like static. It only occurs for a few seconds though, then everything resumes perfectly fine. Another big issue I have is that when I wake the screen, the same audio choppyness will occur and it will usually stay like that on the lockscreen, and when I unlock my phone, it goes away after a bit. My phone will also randomly show the message "Bluetooth messenger has stopped working" sometimes, usually after my phone is unlocked after a while of not using it. I have turned off my phone's doze function, cleared the cache many times, and factory reset it to no avail. Hope you guys can help.
I have a galaxy alpha that will randomly shutdown when off the charger and will just boot loop until it is plugged back into a power source. A spare OEM battery was purchased separately and this problem occurs with the spare battery as well. The phone is running rooted stock android 5.0.2.
Same over here
I have the same problem! It started a few days ago, and i don't installed any app...
Battery is Stock, No damage on entire smartphone, and it keeps shutting down randomly for no reason and only starts when plugged into AC power too...
I'm on EpsilROM 3.9.8
So anyone else with this problem? Anyone can help?
Guess we are out of luck FelipeBazz, I am running stock rom but rooted. I suppose I'll try a factory reset and see where that gets me.
I've changed the battery, now it works fine again.
Just reporting, for people with the same problem know what to do.
I had the same problem (symptoms were the same): The problem started a few weeks ago (after some update I guess). It was happening 10-30 seconds after 3G mobile connection started. Changing the battery or SIM didn't help.
After uninstalling the updates for Google Play Store app, phone worked *almost normal again. (Settings / Appl. Manager / All / Google Play Store / Uninstall updates)
*almost: 3g internet connectivity is lost every now and then. Also, during calls, occasionally, the other party can't her me for 1-2 seconds)
First of all I know it's a crap phone.
It is not my wifi that is the problem, it happens on all wifi networks.
I didn't drop the phone or anything like that.
I am running stock Android 6.0 (no root)
I previously used a hack from this website that involved putting code through MinimalADB to mount an sd card as the main storage as this phone doesn't support apps on sd card (Did after that hack!).
On my phone randomly when I am using my wifi the wifi stops working randomly. There is no warning and no sign except only the left arrow beside the wifi bars lights up (the bars are still full). Nothing at all will load. The only solution I have found to this problem is restarting my phone. As this happens usually after 10/15 minutes of using the phone it is beyond irritating. The Bluetooth also goes and even though it says I am still connected to my headphones no sound will transmit. Mobile data still works.
If anyone can help it will be super helpful.
