Please Help!! Power Button Damaged - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, my power button is damaged, it 'sets' it's condition to always clicked, so I always face a lot of restarts & many unwanted screen of & on.
I tried using xposed additions, but it doesn't work anymore after Kitkat.
Does anyone know to COMPLETELY DISABLE my power button functionality?
I will use other screen waker apps available on Playstore, so i will not need my power button anymore
Please help me.. :crying:

It depends on your device that whether it supports tap to wake function or not. Google it with your mobile model number: "how to disable power button on xxxxxx"
Otherwise you have to take it to a repairing shop.

Thankyou for replying. My device is old Xperia SP & doesn't support tap2wake feature.
I only need to disable the power button functionality.
Do you have any idea?
I used xposed additions in the past to disable my power button functionality.
After 3.3.2 version, it has new feature to force restart device when power button is held more than 10 secs andd my device always restarts lol
I cannot use 3.3.2 version on marshmallow since it doesn't work anymore with MM build.
Are there any other apps like Xposed Additions in MM?

Oh i understand. No there is no such module or audition yet as for as i know.
If you disabled power button then how can you power your device up and what about wake up?
Don't try to tease your device buddy just take it to a good repairing shop.
Hey why don't you try sony service centre may be they can repair it but they will charge you.

Slow Wake up Lockscreen

Whenever I push my power button to pop up my Lock Screen, it usually takes about 1-2 seconds to react. (same with the home button actually - not so fast as the one on the iphone)
I removed the water effect and I also changed the unlocking mechanism to something else but nothing really helps. Still 1-2 seconds before my screen wakes up.
Is there any way to improve this wake up time? My Google Nexus One was faster, my brothers HTC sensation wakes up faster and my friends Galaxy Nexus and HTC one S wake up faster.
I want my Galaxy S3 to wake up faster aswell! Any tricks, tips?
The phone needs to wake up the modem first. It's a design flaw that can be found at least in the Galaxy S and S2, too. I'm not sure if there's a fix
I think this problem existed in earlier Galaxies as well.
All you have to do is to download Softlocker from the market

Do you use the stock launcher?
T.
you have to disable s-voice's double press of home button.
unlock your phone and launch s-voice.
press the left soft key (menu), settings will popup.
below the language untick the "launch s-voice".
that's it.

Unfortunately this is not work for everybody.
Still there is a delay on my phone, this is not rom nor s-voice related, I think this is samsung thing, I hope they give an attention to this wake up delay...

Someone have found any solution?
no, thats the way deep sleep works
hi guys,
im finding this slightly annoying .... made worse by the fact that the previous rom i was running had a fast wake mod, so this makes my current one seem even slower
try blackbox rom 1.3.1 from darksideagent site, and make sure to select fast wake mod in aroma
cheers

as mentioned by @marcel_miller above, softlocker simply disabled deep sleep and now it's just instant lock and unlock.

[MOD][MIUI] Home Button Delay Fix for 2.8.17

As you may know, all ICS stock based roms for Samgung Galaxy 2 have one common and very unpleasant feature - a home button delay. This delay is noticeable every time you press home button to exit an application, return back from settings to dashboard or if you want to return to your home screen. As a result you may have a feeling that your phone response after clicking a home button is delayed app. 1s and it will degrade overall phone responsivness.
For demonstration of a problem see this video.
Finally the fix is here and you may enjoy it on your Galaxy S2 with the newest miuiandroid 2.8.17 rom with integrated 3-way Reboot options from kong. It is not tested on another miui releases, but probably could work.
Installation:
Just install the zip in cwm recovery and you are good to go.
If you enjoy my work you may consider a small donation to support my further development.
Note: This will NOT fix lockscreen lag, it is present because your cpu is in powersaving mode and takes some time to utilize again.
Please do not copy this patch to another hosts, always use a link to this forum instead.
I'm not responsible for any problems or data corruption you may have using this patch. For your safety always backup your rom before doing any modifications.
I'm keen to try this but scared it messes something up Any lab rats willing to test it first?

Did you patch it correctly in cwm recovery? This is the problem, see video here
If you apply it correctly it will remove this delay completely and if you press home button the phone reacts immediately. Check if you have 3 way reboot option. If not a patch has not been applied...

Faulty? It should be ok, maybe it is kernel problem. What kernel do you use? I use syiah and no problems. Does the updater throws any error during flash?
Edit: I have double checked and reverted back changes and apply this fix again and it works just fine.

It was never that slow for me. Maybe it did work but I just can't notice it :-/ I never use the home button anyway. I always press the back button.

Ah, then it's clear Back buton is not affected because phone doesn't wait for second click. I'm use home button pretty often ant it was very anoying for me
Edit: a question came into my mind - let's say you have on third or fourth tab in MIUI Launcher, how do you return back to home tab ??? For me the only way is to press the home button and here you can clearly see the difference.

I know it won't work for back button, but I did try using the home button to see. Perhaps it is faster, but I just can't see it. It's probably because I use the back button so often.
I don't use MIUILauncher, so I can't help you out with your question but I do know you mean Thanks for this mod, though. I'll keep it on

Lol I'm probably just used to the quick speed of the back button, so when I click home now, even though it is faster, I can't see it. Maybe that's why I can't notice it

If you have the patch applied there is no difference in speed between back and home button - and that's it! Now if you would flash unmodified rom you would see the difference between these two buttons very quickly
what is the process to remove this patch because I applied it and now my phone will not turn on passed the samsung logo?

[Q] Droid Razr soft buttons not working

Hey guys new to the site, and before I get started, I know I know there's such thing as a search button. I used it and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. So, the other night I tripped and got my Razr a little wet. It didn't get fully submerged but it did get a significant amount of water on it. I immediately turned it off and pulled my SIM and SD out. I dried those off and put the phone in a bag of rice for 2 full days. I took it out and put it on the charger and it charged right up. I then turned it on and it was acting a bit sketchy, the touchscreen wasn't working and the soft buttons weren't working and it kept restarting itself. I turned it off and let it charge fully. I turned it on and it was still all messed up. I put it in recovery mode and it didn't work so I factory reset it. It's bearable now but the touchscreen is a little iffy.
The main point is, are there any workarounds to where I can either have no unlock screen, or have my home, back, search and settings buttons on the home/lock screen, or does anyone know how to fix the soft buttons.
Thanks for bearing with me through this post.

I think the best path would be to use, on-screen controls if you are on stock rom, install pie launcher from play store,
else install paranoid android rom, or install Xposed module - Gravity Box.

Protected apps in EMUI 8.0 (Gravity screen for example)

Hi Guys,
I moved from IOS to Android with the lovely mate 10 recently. The feature I miss most is the raise to wake.
After trying different apps, gravity screen is the one that works the best.
However, after lock screen for more than few minutes, the screen wake up stop working.
When I charge my phone, it works 10/10, so i suppose it is related to battery saving features of the EMUI.
Anyone has any suggestion to fix the problem? I have so far tried "ignore battery optimization", "launch manually".
THe app tells me to use protected apps but I do not see anywhere in EMUI settings.
Have you tried toggles in settings>Battery>Launch>Select gravity app>Run in Background

yes i have allowed all three launching methods. (self-trigger, triggered by others and running in background.
The problem seems to be the sensor being turned off after screen goes black for a while.

its more about the EMUI 8 I guess, than the app itself.

I have found out how to sort it out as per Rogerrynic quote below.
rogerinnyc said:
It's buried, but you have to "ignore battery optimizations" by going into settings, then apps, then clicking the setting button at the bottom of the apps page, then "special access" and then "allow" the apps you want to survive in "ignore battery optimization". At least that's how it's on my Mate 10 (non-pro), so I suspect it's the same for you.

Shoulder buttons

Has anybody found out yet how to use the shoulder buttons? There is no settings option like for the led strip.
Did Nubia forget to include it in the Android 9 version?
For future reference: Enter game mode, pull down the quick settings bars. There is a new button to activate and map the shoulder buttons
I just did the switch from China to global and I'm trying to figure out where the trigger buttond are its different the China rom
Can't post a link. Go to YouTube and watch?v=vIrtHkrFC6c&t=699
I seen it in a video before but the global rom I'm on don't have it in the pull down when in game mode waiting for update
I wish I could disable them. When watching youtube if I touch them the screen controls come up making it difficult to hold the phone for youtube.
Yeah dog, you have to turn the Gameboost button on, then the option for mapping the shoulder buttons appears

Shoulder Button Issues
Hi my name is Scott, I just got my Mars today and I can't not find this drop down menu to map the Shoulder buttons. I've went in the device settings, game mode, pretty much anywhere I could think to look. I guess it's a US version, 8gb 126gig . Anyways any kind of help would be nice. I'm looking forward to any advice! Thanks

Once you enter into game mode by flipping the red switch on the left side you open the game you would like to play. Once in the game you want to play (only in gaming mode via the switch) you pull down your notification drop-down and you'll see a D-pad icon. Hit the icon and turn the button feature on via the switch at the top of the screen. Adjust your shoulder inputs to the proper location and click the X in the top right corner when your all set. That should be it.
I also have this issue with the buttons while watching YouTube. It also changes the way scrolling works on a web page, or document. Instead of swiping and it scrolling even after my finger leaves the screen, if I'm touching either of the shoulder buttons it stops the scrolling when I stop swiping. For the people saying the solution is to turn off game mode, you can't view YouTube, web pages or emails while in game mode (if you can I haven't found a way), this is a different problem.

That's odd then because I am also on the global and I do not have that issue. I have no access to shoulder buttons outside of game mode. You may want to try a factory reset...
I completed a factory reset, updated to the newest version, and factory reset again. Problem persists, not really sure what more I can do. It's annoying, but not a deal breaker. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the phone.
This is gonna sound sad but since I don't actually USE those buttons I just covered them with some black painters tape and I'm hoping t get fixed in and update.
I had an update.. and somehow I got extra button beside L and R, it is T .. its is for fingerprint scanner... but i just got to feel the exprience once on pubg mobile. After i exit and launch for the second time, the T button is still there but its not functioning anymore.. does anyone know how to fix these? cause its very helpful to had that button useable again.
Does anyone know if you can use those shoulder buttons for other things besides gaming? Like map them to open an app or something?
