Introduction
Unlike its predecessor "HTC Remix v3", HTC Reborn is not a standalone rom package. It is a flashable zip which can be flashed on any rom based on MM or LP (CM or AOSP based). This ensures maximum compatiblity and plus it also gives the user chance to choose which base rom they want. It also is a great theming platform as you can combine CMTE or Layers with the HTC Theme Engine.
You can install this MOD with any Rom available for redmi 2 (Not tested on miui), but i would personally recommend to use it with Dirty Unicorns by @s.sawrav which can be found here.

Installation:
Reboot to recovery
Wipe cache and dalvik
Flash ROM zip
Flash HTC Reborn zip
Flash OpenGapps nano or pico (Anything over nano will be Overkill!)
Reboot to system
Follow the above steps if you are starting a fresh installation. If you already have a ROM installed just flash the HTC Reborn zip.
Known Issues:
HTC Camera doesn't record videos
Google plus authentication error in Blinkfeed plugin
To Do:
Fix HTC cam video recording
Add more HTC ported apps
Fix Google Plus Blinkfeed plugin
Make AROMA installer

Yes as the system partition of redmi 2 is just about 1 Gb, flashing rom + this mod just leaves 250mb space free. The gapps that will work are either nano or pico.
If nano doesn't work then flash pico.

Yes and battery backup will be same as the Nexus Experience ROM only.
