PC Internet connection on Android Phone. - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to use my computer's broadband internet connection by usb cable on my MOTO E2 (2015) 3G VARIANT, using what is technically called Reverse Tethering.
I am running a PC having these: Windows 7 (32 bit)
RAM= 1GB
HD= 1TB
PC Internet Connection: Broadband (Direct Cable, NO ROUTER)
I am using a device with : Android Lollipop 5.1
NOT ROOTED
NOTE: I have used the app named 'Reverse Tethering NoRoot Free' by Florian Draschbacher available on the Playstore.
I can have an internet connection on my phone (though for only 10 minutes 3 times only) but the connection enables for some apps only. Not for most of the apps except browsers.
Suggest methods requiring no root.
Please suggest some way of enabling full internet connection on the device using my PC broadband connection.

you not only need an OTG cable, but also a USB Ethernet adapter to do this. Join the ethernet cable to the USB ethernet adapter and the other end of the USB ethernet adapter to OTG cable and the end of OTG cable to your phone. This way u can have internet access directly to ur phone and yes this doesnt reuire any app. Also the USB ethernet adapter can be bought online on amazon. I hope this helps. Here's a link, chk the 6th point=> http://beebom.com/usb-otg-uses/

You actually don't need to use a cable or have root. Try Connectify! I've been using it for quite a while to bypass some horrid network restrictions. http://www.connectify.me/

[Q] Usb tethering

Any body tried the USB tethering of galaxy S2? seems like Samsung did not supply the proper drivers for it to work. I loved that feature in my desire HD as it preserves the battery of the phone( better than WiFi tethering) Any body got any idea on this? thanks....
Works for me
I have an unbranded KE7 SGS2 and USB tethering works fine for me:
Settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> USB tethering (tick).
My XP-powered laptop then used this connection without any configuration or setup.
Mine's working fine as well.
Running KE7 on the phone, Windows 7 on the computer. Just plugged it in, the drivers installed automatically and it started working with no problems! (I'm actually posting this reply over the tethered connection).
this is really weird. My Gs2 usb tethering is not working in two of my laptops. both are working well with my desire hd. Can this be a hardware issue?
Works fine for me also...

Possibly, I would think a more likely explanation would be a problem with the USB drivers for your GS2.
It's a bit hard to say without looking at your computer. But if there was a problem with the phone, there would most likely be a lot more people reporting it. I'd say the problem is more likely on the computer end.
I might have the wrong end of the stick here, but I would like to use my laptop's broadband connection whilst in the office to use on my phone.
HTC Sense on my previous phone gave you the option when you plugged in the USB lead, does such a thing exist on the Samsung? Or even a 3rd party app that achieves the same goal?
Seems pointless using 3g in the office when I have a fibre connection out to the internet.

I think what you mean is using the pc/laptop internet connection to surf the net on the phone while it is connected via usb to the pc/laptop.
Well the answer to that is sadly this phone does not support that..and like you said..i miss this feature coming from desire hd..

Yes..but still you have to use wifi to connect your phone to the internet.,actually there is a free program for windows 7 that does just that..connectify will make your pc into a hotspot...
Anyway..people who are using htc devices prior to SGS2 will miss this simple yet important feature thanks to samsung

I connected my phone via usb last night in the hope of letting the phone use my PC cable broadband connection. I can never get game hub to load, it always says it needs a working network connection. I thought game hub would use my T-Mobile web n walk connection. After connecting the phone via usb and enabling usb tethering, it successfully found and installed 2 drivers. Then going back to game hub while still connected to usb, it still said it needed a working connection. So what exactly is USB tethering meant to do?

What you sucessfully achived is that your pc now can use your phone mobile internet connection when it is plugged in via usb...that is usb tethering for samsung( that is what i understand). There is no way yet to allow this phone to use your pc's internet connection while the phone is connected via usb unlike on htc's phones.

I see. So in fact, tethering is completely and utterly useless.
hello i shifted to using GS2 from my blackberry (so im a bit of a noob as ive been using blackberry for years)
i have a bit of a confusion here. i have a problem with usb tethering, do you plug in your phone to ur pc/laptop first then only you go to settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot > tick usb tethering on your GS2 or you tick the usb tethering in settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot then only you plug in your phone via usb to your laptop/pc.
When i plug in my GS2 to my laptop, i couldnt press anything on my phone,it says 'press home key to quit samsung kies', if i do it then i will lose the usb connection, so i tried going to settings> wireless and network> tethering and portable hotspot > tick usb tethering, and then connect my GS2 to my laptop, but there is no connection between my laptop and my GS2.
i tried going to settings> applications> development > tick usb debugging, unfortunately when after doing that, when i connect my GS2 to laptop, my laptop says no driver for the device, so there is no autoplay or icon of my phone on the 'my computer' folder my lapop. in short i couldnt access my phone through usb.
Im sorry if my words are confusing, its so hard to put it in words.
i really2 need help, as i need to use the internet from my phone as he internet in my college sucks. thank you
What i'm doing is connecting the phone to PC via USB, then the 'usb tethering' checkbox lights up and I can tap on it to activate it. Also have usb debug mode enabled. Try using it with Kies closed/turned off. I'm using Windows 7 if that helps.
i have successfully use usb tethering on win7. i install kies v2.0.1.11053_99. reboot laptop. run kies, go to Tools> Install driver. reboot after finish. connect SGS2 with usb, enable usb tether and i can use internet on my laptop. using sub tether rite now.
fyi, i've tried with samsung usb driver only installation but cannot use usb tether becos i think it did not install phone modem driver.
usb tethering
Is there any application like the one available in HTC devices for usb connection..? I dont like the way the Samsung designed the application on the SGS2 ./. HTC really great..
Install Kies by Samsung
Install Kies by Samsung
the issue with the usb tethering option not being availavle is the network provider blocking this
If you want them to unblock you have to pay them a small fee,,

[Q] TCP/IP access to Windows 7 PC from Android device using USB cable

Is it possible to have a TCP/IP access to Windows 7 PC from Android device (create a LAN between them) using just direct connection via USB cable, without wifi or bluetooth? I already have it working using wifi, but I am also interested in just USB cable way.
I do _not_ need to use PC's internet connection, I only want to access the PC itself. I want to access HTTP/FTP/SSH servers on the PC and its samba (Windows Network) shares via Android CifsManager app.
Is this possible using "reverse tethering" solution which is used to access PC's internet connectivity on Android device and uses some 3rd party app? Is there a simpler solution without using 3rd party apps? Is this possible somehow via adb?
My Android device uses Android 4.0.3 and is rooted. My Windows version is Windows 7 64-bit.

If your network adapter on the Win7 PC had the capability to send/receive TCP/IP over USB rather than a standard Ethernet cable, and a similar function is implemented to your Android device's kernel, it may(?) be possible.
I'm not entirely sure, but to do it the way you're thinking, would probably take some crazy hack involving packet readers, a stream buffer of some sort and perhaps 10 times the processing power and I/O capability of your Android device. Even then, I don't think it would be very efficient.
I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem very likely.

Install USB Internet Modem On Android Phone

Hii Experts
I was just thinking that if one can install a USB Datacard/Internet Modem on an android phone using USB to Micro USB convertor.
It may seem weird but if it can be done a lot of people will be saving a lot of money.
I have a USB internet data card which I use on my laptop & it has unlimited plan. Usually at home I share my laptop internet using connectify & connect my Android phone to that. But if the laptop is not switch on or I am outside I have to use career services which is very costly.
So I was thinking that if I already have a USB Modem with unlimited connection & an android phone with micro USB, there could be some way to connect it with USB to Micro USB convertor & install it on my phone directly & use it on the go.
Already android tablets are supporting USB internet modems.

What is your usage scenario?
If you want to copy your shared files from PC(or NAS) to your phone through LAN, you can setup shared folder on the PC(or NAS) and use any file management application on your phone to connect to it.
If you want to use your PC to view the contents on your phone, you can setup a HTTP share on your phone and browse and manage the contents on your PC browser. You may install an application named AirDroid on your phone.
Both of these two scenarios are based on LAN and do not need to connect usb cable.
No sir i want to use the ethernet adapter ...and moreover would like to keep my laptop out of the picture...
Direct broadband internet through the router as an alternative for my wifi...
I've seen that working on tablets ...
Thanks for the reply thougb..

Help sharing Dongle internet from laptop to Redmi Note3

Hi,
I have connected laptop to internet using dongle. Now, I want to share the laptop internet with my Android and Windows mobile by making my laptop as hotspot. To do this, I followed online tutorial for this.
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-set-up-a-wireless-hotspot-From-WiFi-Windows/
It is nothing but executing following commands from cmd (Run as Admin):
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=myhotspot key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Then new network Adaptor by name "myhotspot" is created. Now, I right click on my dongle adaptor and select Properties. In the Sharing Tab, I checked the checkboxes and select "myhotspot" in the dropdown.
Now, when I connect to "myhotspot" on my Redmi Note3, it is connected but internet is not working on the mobile.
Can someone please guide me in troubleshooting the issue?
Or let me know the alternate way of doing it.
Also, please let me know if any other information or clarification is required from my side.
usually you will need two wireless dongles, one for the laptop internet (or connect it with wired lan connection) and one for the Access Point.
if you have two wifi adapters then perhaps your issue is somewhere with DNS getting assigned the wrong ip, I suggest you buy/use a router for hotspots, since using a normal wifi adapter will be slow and have limited range.
Thanks oxyg for the reply. I guess the issue is not clear. I have connected the following Vodafone dongle to laptop to connect to Internet.

Download connectify And setup the hotspot!
P.S-its a paid app!
Thanks NVDX11 for the reply. I know about connectify, however, it is paid app (as you also mentioned). Please help me with the free method to share dongle internet.
If you can live with using it over USB, you can get the Mi PC suite, that can get the RN3 to get it's internet from the pc it's connected to.
Hmm......that can be the solution but needs phone to be connected to laptop always......can the laptop internet be shared wirelessly to redmi note3?
is it not possible?

Hey, you can use mHotSpot to share the internet from your USB dongle to Wireless,
Ive been using that for quite sometime now, but one disadvantage is that the range that you will get from a Laptop Wifi card would be very less and would work only in a short range.
