upgrade from stock 35B to marshmallow? - Verizon LG G3

Hey guys its been a while since ive been on xda but i just got a g3 and i used the the verizon upgrade assistant to upgrade to 35B since i have pageplus and can't take the OTA. But now i want to upgrade to marshmallow and the verizon assistant keeps saying up to date. If i right click the icon in the taskbar and check for upgrade it'll download the upgrade and ask me to install but when it opens it goes back to showing up to date. I'm completely stock with no root and would like to stay like that so is there a simple way i can upgrade or trick the upgrade assistant to continue the upgrade? Thanks

You have to have a Verizon sim card for that to work. But here on xda there are kdz for all the different versions. Just search for how to flash kdz and you'll find instructions on how to do it. Then you'll be able to upgrade to marshmallow

Upgrade to JB from rooted, unlocked, stock 10o version without LGNPST

I was on stock ICS but rooted and unlocked and on software version 10o and wanted to update to JB but was reluctant to do LGNPST so I tried this and it worked for me so hopefully it will help some of you out.
Reading some of the forum posts, I understood that JB update won't remove root but if you have unlocked bootloader it errors out so:
First Step (locking the bootloader) :
Used FreeGee paid app from play store to restore my backup (which I believe locks the bootloader)
Second Step (Contact AT&T)
I contacted the technical support through the online chat option and told them that I would like the JB update but I am on version 10o. He told me to first connect my phone to wifi to be able to receive the updates. He was able to push 11c update to my phone which I installed and rebooted the phone. Checked that my root stayed intact using the Titanium Backup.
Third Step (Reset the update clock)
When I checked for a software update after upgrading to 11c, it told me to wait 24 hours so I went into TiBu to clear the olam data but it did not detect a new update so I advanced my clock to April 8, checked for update and it started downloading the update. Changed the clock back to today's date.
After that the phone downloaded the update, it rebooted, installed firmware, installed software and updated the android apps (48 something) and now I am on JB.
Hope this helps someone who was in similar situation.
I assume you still have root? Did you also unlock it with freegee after Jb?

Yes. I still have root. I have not tried unlocking with freegee after JB but the change log said it unlocks after at&t JB update so I think it should work.
Is there a specific keyword you are using to tell the customer service rep? I called 611 and they said they do not have any ability to push any update to any particular phone. They said that you just have to wait.

I prefer to chat.. so I just went to the technical support chat directly but they can definitely push an update to you. I didn't specifically ask for 11c update but I told them that I am on 10o and trying to update. I have found the chat more useful than phone.
Just got off the chat with the same results. Oh well. Hopefully it gets rolled out here soon. For reference I'm in Seattle.

I think when I was chatting with the rep, one of things he copy pasted in the chat window said that the customer needs to be on 11c to be eligible for JB update. May be try chatting with them again and ask them to push 11c update to you. I should have taken the screenshot of the chat window.
Just use lgnpst to get on 11c. G33k3r released the 11c file last night after I discovered you needed to be on 11c to receive the update. Lgnpst didn't effect your warranty so your good to go.

So i'm omn E97011c android 4.0.4 on a rooted phone.. once i click update software it will find JB and update.. i'll still have root when it's done?
Thx!
Couldn't wait any longer and just gave in. Used LGNPST to flash to 11c that was provided in the other thread. After that was upgraded I immediately got notified for the JB update. All my data was retained and nothing was lost in the process.
Thanks to the IRC channel for the help.

Yes, you will still have root. If you have unlocked the bootloader, you should lock/restore them before updating.

Yes. You need LS970.DLL

Or you could just flash the stock zip snowleopard posted and keep unlock and root.

Where could I download LS970 DLL? I searched google and xda and the only site that has it no longer host the file. Im trying to get from 4.0.4 ICS on my T-Mobile AT&T Optimus G

[Q] Just got the phone. OTA is waiting to install. How do I avoid?

Hello all,
I just got home from the Sprint store with my LG G3. I have the notification that the system update is ready to install. I'm assuming it's the lollipop update, and from what I've read, as of right now that's no bueno for rooting. I am not rooted as of yet, how can I stop it from taking effect? I want to begin the rooting process, but i am afraid when the phone does it's reboot, the OTA will install? Thanks
My apologies. I was having issues with Tapatalk. In the Q&A Stickies @engine95 posted a FAQ with helpful links such as what to do about OTA's etc. It's really useful for a launching pad for those that just got the device.

I doubt It's the lollipop update, it's most likely zv6. But you can stump root zv4 at least.

Just don't click the install button, just root put recovery on and if you want the stock lg flash barrin or the new stock lollipop. Your choice (both found on android develoment page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development)

[Q] Thinking of picking up a G3, what do I need to look for?

Looking to upgrade from my note 2, in order to keep unlimited data buying off swappa and deciding between M8 and G3. From what I have read if you can revert to 10b it can be rooted. are there any versions that can't be reverted back to 10b?
saw the thread about everyone praising the phone but wanted to know if there are any complaints about the phone I should consider when deciding?
thanks for any info
I went from a note 2 to the G3 no regrets man..... Love the phone.

I don't think you'll have a problem reverting to 10b for root and recovery. I love this phone so far and haven't had any problems. Not a ton of stock roms available but they are quality roms.
So far, every version can be downgraded in order to root it.

There are two methods to go back to 10b: the KDZ method and the TOT method. Just to give you some info, if you go back via the KDZ method, you won't be able to accept OTAs from what I've read. This is because the KDZ image is based off of a pre-release version of the software for the G3.
The TOT method, which is more involved but still easy to do, uses an official 10b version that will accept all the official OTAs.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Love the phone. I am not disappointed in it at all.

[Q] How To Root VS985 on Lollipop 5.0.1

I know this has probably been asked a few times but I can't follow along for whatever reason.
I'm wanting to root my Verizon LG G3 on Lollipop 5.0.1 [Release VS98523C]
I have never rooted this phone before. It is entirely stock.
How can I do this or can it be done?

I'm pretty sure the one click root will work on LP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
You can also get vs985 autorec from the play store to quick flash twrp on there

Thank you, man.
I'm also concerned about unrooting as well, so if I rooted this way and then wanted to unroot in the future, I'm concerned about trying to figure out how to go about that as well.

Somehow I managed to overlook where it says you can just unroot in within SuperSU. Lol.
Thanks again, man.
Now if I can just manage to find an updated version of TWRP for this phone that I can flash via AutoRec.
Once you are rooted TWRP manager from the Play Store will do all that for you also.

The issue though with unrooting is it just removes root, but does not put the G3 back into stock condition. If you look under settings->About Phone->Software info, you'll see it shows it as "Modified" which means no OTAs will be accepted more than likely. The only way to go back to pure stock is to flash via KDZ or TOT images, which wipes your phone. That's the only way to get back to pure stock where it won't show modified as the status.
To learn more about the G3, I would suggest going to the following post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/help-thread-lg-g3-question-t2947298
From reading through that post, I learned everything I needed to about the LG G3 when I was considering switching to it and knew that I would be able to flash ROMs, root, etc. It is what sold me on getting the phone.

Rooted, I want to return to stock and update to MM, how?

So I am rooted and I want to return to fully stock and update to marshmellow. What exactly do I need to do in order to do this please? . Thank you.

Just to be on the safe side are you wanting root after you update to MM?
Because there is no known root method yet.
I would hold off if you still want a rooted device.
Edit: I just noticed your sig.. Are you on the Tmobile version? H901?
We have a rooted MM Rom built from the Official T-Mobile 20E.. Its by Eliminater74..
Read his thread in the Tmobile V10 Dev Section on how to update to his Rom.
Im using it. Works flawless for me.
