Hi guys, i've a problem...i had an LG Optimus 3D and yesterday i bought a GSIII...today I root it and i transferred the folder of titanium backup of the LG on the Galaxy...I restored all the apps and now the native SMS app doesnt work,if i try to open the app it crash probably because it is damaged by the data of titanium backup ...What can i do now? I have to reinstall te .apk file of sms app? where can i find it?? HELP ME PLEASEEEEEEE
way out
when you use titanium backup to restore sms
you should restore only Data
that is, when you restore messages, you should restore DATA ONLY
and if you restore app+data, then sms application will always crash, because sms app of one phone dowsnot work on another phone.
Now the way out is,
1. you will have to reflash the rom (donot wipe data)
2. then restore messaging DATA ONLY via titanium backup
All the best
My girlfriend and I both have 2011 Minipros. Hers has gotten the ICS update, mine hasn't yet gotten it, so I haven't really had a chance to play with it yet.
Her problem is that her phone keeps freezing up. I want to do a repair with SUS. I'm also thinking about copying her SD to the computer, formatting the chip and putting her stuff back on it.
My question is how to backup her apps and data so I can put her phone back together. My 2011 minipro didn't come with the Backup and Restore app that my x10 minipro had, so I downloaded it from Sony. Will this same app work with ICS? Is this the best way to do it? Does someone have a link to this app? It's not on the Android Market.
I'll only have the phone for a few hours this afternoon, so I don't want to get buried too far into it or screw it up.
Thanks!
dave
I think that Titanium Backup will do the job. Even without root, you should be able to backup your apps. Then, you'll have to reinstalla Titanium Backup on the phone after repairing it, and restore your apps
EDIT
I'm actualy not sure about using TB without root... maybe you should wait for someone else's opinion :/
download the .ftf and flash it with flashtool

Titanium Backup doesn't work without root.
Contacts can be backed up via Contacts app.
The Backup and Restore app was partly on 2010 phones, then 2011 phones didn't get it at all and 2012 phones received it with ICS again.
To backup contacts to SD, use the contacts app directly. To backup SMSs, you can use SMS Backup&Restore. If you want to backup calendars, just synchronize them with google until you have repaired the phone. To backup apps and their settings, search the market for "backup" and you'll find something useful.
EDIT
Someguyfromhell, we wrote together. Thank you for clarifying about Titanium Backup!
Sony's Backup and Restore app doesn't appear to work on ICS. The app will install and make a backup, but I haven't had any luck getting it to restore the backup. Looks like I've lost her sms and mms and she'll have to restore her apps manually. Rats.

Hey guys, I am trying to restore text messages from my Galaxy S to Galaxy S3. I tried Super Backup, SMS backup and restore and Titanium Backup, but all of them mess up the timeline on my S3. It shows all the sent messages first and then all the received messages. Anyone knows any other app to restore messages?
all 3 works fine...
i suggest make a new backup with one of the methods you've mentioned and restore with the same app.
please notice that sms backup on TB work only with the pro version(which by my opinion is a must-have app that i also purchased).
Go Backup is best for message backup and restore.. i always restore and backup my 19000 msges with ease ..
and also done it from s to s3 with ease ..

GoBackup Pro worked perfectly! Thanks!
Where is the Backup by LG program? I am trying to use Samsung's new Smart Switch program so I don't have to spend days and days restoring everything on my Rooted LG OG to the Note 2. The software needs a backup file but I can't find the "Backup by LG" app that is supposed to be on our phone. Does anyone know how to backup the phone to a local file? I don't think it will use a Titanium Backup. I really don't want to lose my work Whatsapp logs.
Titanium Backup will restore your Whatsapp logs.
So, I often change from one phone to another and my SMS history is very important. So far I need to backup and restore 16k messages. I've tried sms backup & restore but it takes long to restore the sms and for the phone to read all the sms again once I open the messaging app.
So, anyone know faster method to backup and restore SMS?
ps : I'm using nexus 5

You can try Titanium Backup (only the paid version has sms backup). But if you have a lot of messages, it'll take a long time to restore, no matter what app you use (i think).

PS: You neet root to use TB.
16K? Jeebus... That's a sure way to make almost any phone start to get laggy. Why not save them to the cloud and only restore the last few months or so with SMS Backup and Restore? But yea, there is not gonna be a quick way to restore that many, no matter what method you use.
