I have a H900 and something weird happened. I've been rooted for a few months now with no real problems. Was listening to music the other day then my phone randomly restarted and got stuck in a bootloop. First thing I did was flash the root tot again but still stuck in a loop. Then I flashed the stock at&t tot and still the same problem. I'm not sure what to do.
Very strange
After flashing both .tot you have restored all partitions so should eliminate the issue
Try removing sdcard and sim, only things that stayed the same after flash
If this doesn't help (which is unlikely) then you may be toast... ?

Take out battery then put it in. Press POWER + VOL DOWN buttons. When you see LG logo release the POWER button (while still holding VOL DOWN) and press POWER button again.
You should see a screen which is asking you if you want to factory reset your phone.

Help!! I was attempting to encrypt my device when the process failed. Optimus G boots up and shows "Encryption unsuccessful". It gives me a button to tap to Reset phone and the button responds to tap but the device never resets. I've attempted to reset using Power and Vol down but as soon as I press power key and it shows confirmed, it seems to freeze the phone again. I have to press and hold power key to get it to reboot.
Any suggestions?

You should still be able to get to the Android recovery and do a factory reset.

I figured that's maybe what I've been missing. What are the steps to enter the stock recovery? I was only aware of PWR + Vol Down keys as an alt reset.

Turn it off then hold PWR + up to get to the bootloader then hit vol down twice (to select Recovery Mode since the menu is actually hidden) and hit the power button to select it.

I think I need to have bootloader unlocked or have run freegee, i haven't done either so i still can't access the recovery.

Right. Sorry, I assumed you had CWM (with bootloader unlocked) installed. You can always use LGNPST, though I'm not sure if you need to have an unlocked bootloader. I'm sure another forum member can better assist you.
Since you're stock, maybe you can get it replaced via warranty? It failed using a standard menu item, shouldn't be an issue.

I had this issue as well. I used a different stock rom and it almost happened too. I just held the down and power button until I got the message to factory reset message. I did that and now i'm back to stock.
Forget what I said
If on stock, press Power+Vol Dwn, power, power yo accept. That does a stock reset.

ok I made a back up of the stock rom and did a complete wipe and flashed a rom and it wouldn`t even boot so I tired a few different button combinations to get back to recovery to do a restore, and i can get fastboot mode but tried to use the volume up and down to select recovery and I can`t , what sequence of buttons do you use to get you in to recovery ?:silly:

thanks, yeah I just figured it out, its weird that when the phone is completely shut off I do the volume up then press power button on, it takes me to fastboot, but if I keep holding volume up and release the power and push power button for the second time then it enters recovery every time, kind odd to me but it works
ok I was playing around again entering recovery manually and now I can`t everytime I hold volume up and power button and goes to fastboot, then I did the second press of the power goes right to fastboot again, is there something jack up with my phone?
hmm that kinda odd... what ROM are you trying to flash?
From bootloader screen use vol up twice then power, or vol dwn twice then power.

Glad it worked. This app is nice, but need to be booted.

Also you can reboot into recovery from TiBU
I'm a bit of a noob at terminology and android settings so try to bear with me...
I'm running a deodexed vzw CleanRom v1.6.5 and I've downloaded TWRP recovery via gooManager. (Yes I've installed the recovery script from it.) Back when I had a stock rom, when I held the power + the volume up button it would go into TWRP recovery fine. But now (I don't know if it's CleanRom's fault) when I start up the phone into recovery mode using the shortcut the blue text would appear but it would restart normally.
My stock backup was corrupted for some reason and it softbricked my phone so I had to odin flash and go through all that rooting process again before restoring from my CleanRom backup via TWRP. So I don't really want to go back to stock, but I guess I can download a stock one if I really need to.
I can still enter TWRP by going into gooManager and pressing reboot recovery from there. Any solution to this?
I'm also on CleanRom 1.6.5 and it works for me... Vol up+power

To get mine to boot to recovery while phone is off I have to hold volume + and menu key at the same time. Then hit the power button until it vibrates then let go of the power button. If I keep holding the power button then the blue writing is displayed but instead of going into recovery it just reboots. However if I only hit the power button and release when it vibrates and I am still holding the volume + and menu key then it will boot to twrp recovery.
Alright, I'm feeling pretty foolish.
It was a simple user error that I really hate to admit. If I hold down the volume up and the power button and keep holding down both, the phone restarts as normal. But I should be letting go of the power button when the phone vibrates, while holding down the volume up button keeps it loading into the recovery mode. Don't know why I didn't have that problem before. I attempted Travis' idea first then experimented a little without the menu button and it worked fine.
Thanks.
Glad you got it figured out. :good:

True and that is what he said he has been doing. However what if you flash something and you get a boot loop. You can pull the battery and try again but if it boot loops again you will need to be able to get to your recovery with a non booting phone. That is why it is important to know how to boot the phone into recovery with out the need of any apps.

Precisely my thought process. I knew that at some time I'm bound to softbrick my phone again and I needed to boot recovery from startup.
I got a D618 and it suddenly turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it just bricked and keeps bootloop-ing. The phone is stuck on the LG logo and then the screen went off, then get back to the LG logo and suddenly the screen go off and so on.
Already tried Factory Reset but can't because of the LG logo-screen go off loop, also tried LG Tools but can't get into Recovery Mode.
Any help?
Have you tried pulling out the battery for a couple of seconds, then put it back and try the hard reset (aka factory reset) button combination?
To be honest that was the first thing I did.
I don't have TWRP as recovery, can't get into recovery mide either
How about download mode?

Can't either. When I tried to get into Download Mode the phone keeps doing the same, it's like the D618 keeps restarting once the LG logo appear
Do you have adb enabled on the device?
If not, then try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g2-mini/general/guide-unbrick-bricked-wrong-aboot-img-t3128896
Honestly, I have never seen a bootloop that affects all boot modes...
Are you sure you got the hard reset and the download mode key combinations right?
Hard reset: Press and hold Vol- and Power, once the screen comes on, release Power for half a second, then hold both of them for a few seconds, until you see the hard reset menu.
Download mode: Make sure you have LG's drivers installed. Hold the Vol+ button, plug a data-enabled USB to your PC and your phone, all while holding the Vol+ button. Keep holding it until the phone enters download mode.

It's been 3 days and still the same.
The phone was working all right, I didn't flash a new ROM.
Yes, I tried all key combinations. Tried the hard reset key combination, it shows me the Factory Reset confirmation message but once I set YES it enter the bootloop again. Also tried the Download Mode, but once I get into the phone just restart and go into bootloop.

It is probably not the battery, but mine just let the phone reboot when it gets a little hot. There is no problem with the voltage in normal use.
so after installing the latest twrp using twrp app; I tried to boot into recovery and my phone is just stuck on fastboot. I'm not able to turn phone off. Tried different solutions but nothing seems to help. the only command to work is reboot booloader which takes me to the same screen. after searching these threads I have not found anyone with this phone having that issue. any help would be appreciated.
fyi tried 3 different cables, 2 different computers lol.
I discovered that if you hold Volume + and Power while on any screen until it turns off and on and off and on and off again, you can boot in to recovery. (Before I had to take apart the phone and remove the battery lol) Just hold these two buttons for about 25 seconds and eventually it will boot in to twrp/stock recovery
Easier way I think.. .. . Hold power and volume up buttons until end of the second vibration, then release power. After you see the recovery screen - then you can release volume up.

battery finally drained. I tried the volume down + power, released when it vibrates but doesn't get me to recovery. I'm gonna charge it for about 2 minutes and try it again. at least I don't have to worry about this damn thing exploding and setting my place on fire while I'm gone lol.
update: so I tried again and as soon as plug the phone to charge it goes in to fastboot. tried volume down and power. release when it vibrates and it wont get to recovery. I also found a stock file somewhere b322 or 320. put it on a dload folder and did the 3 button trick and nothing either. time to trash this damn thing I guess lol.
Volume UP + power - go back and read my last post carefully for how to get to recovery.

so ok, I tried volume up + power and nothing. phone is on fastboot wont turn off. it restarts but wont stay off.
From your PC folder where you should have a copy of fastboot.exe and put a copy TWRP.img file for the phone:
> fastboot boot TWRP.img
Then if that works, you should be able to turn it off from the TWRP menu - and maybe you need to reflash TWRP if you have not done so yet.

My friend was just stuck at the fastboot screen for hours now and he gave up. I grabbed the phone and held all the buttons, vol up + down + power and when it vibrated I let go of the volume buttons and kept the power till the logo came up then let go and it booted up normally. Not sure why after hrs of trying to figure it out that this worked and I never read to do that. Just wanted to share in case anyone has a phone stuck. I flashed different versions of twrp an could not get into recovery at all.
I just put my phone in fastboot/bootloader mode, then held the power button in until the phone vibrated, then released the power button - after that the phone booted up to normal mode.

Oh ok good to know. Maybe me holding the volumes buttons did nothing so I had basically did what you did since I did let go of the power button right after.
Seems that way, and it's easy enough for you to confirm his phone works the same way just to be sure.
