Hello everyone, i've been using 5.1.1 for quite some time but yesterday i updated to 6.0.1. Is there a way to root it without downgrading to 5.1.1?
Unfortunately no. There's no such option.
DO AS Follows:
.Dowgrade to 5.1.1
-Flash 5.1.1 ftf by latest flashtool (note: exclude simlock and other. Ta files)
.Root with kingroot
.Install nuts dual recovery from your pc
.Download 6.0.1 ftf and create prf with supersu (system mode)
.Download ricdefeat.zip, byeselinuxflashable.zip,z2 mm serajr twrp recovery,z2 570 bootloopfix.zip
.Flash them in same order
Voila, you will get a rooted mm on your z2.

You'll need to downgrade your Z2 to Android 4.4.4. Then you need to install root + a costum recovery. Then download the pre-rooted Firmware and install it via recovery.

Exactly. If you want a fast run down (don't do this without reading in full) flash the new zip via recovery, then using flashtool flash the stock kernal without wiping any data and with a few exceptions (can't remember which off the top of my head) but it's a simple process.
If you don't want to lose recovery in the process, reflash a zip of the dual recovery right after flashing the .28 zip.

i think you should wait for someone who make Pro-root .zip,
There is one, there's a whole thread about it.
Basically the same instructions as with the 726 zip but with the 28.
Search tool is your friend.

You don't need flashtool for this, just put it on your SD-Card, flash it and wipe cache/dalvik

I'm afraid that we don't have "one click root" right now.
You would have to downgrade back to 4.4.4 (with root and custom recovery) and flash a pre-rooted 5.0
This guide worked for me.

There is a section there when you are already on 5.0.
I too was already on 5.0 and no root but following this guide, I now have a rooted 5.0.1.
Basically, the steps are:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Download 4.4.4 FTF and use Flash Tool to downgrade your phone
3) Root and install custom recovery on your downgraded phone (you should already be on 4.4.4 by this time)
4) Download 5.0.1 FTF and create a pre-rooted flashable 5.0 using prefCreator
5) Flash your pre-rooted 5.0
Read the guide, you can never get lost.

Did you search?
If you did youbwould know you can
1. Unlock your bootloader
2. Downgrade to 5.0 and root with kingroot
3. Downgrade to 4.4 and use towelroot

There is no root method for 5.1.1 except downgrading and then flashing pre-rooted ROM of 5.1.1.. Just did this and was pretty easy
downgrade your firmware to the rootable one (17.1.2.A.0.314) which is 4.4.2 via flashtool and very easy to root
Then install dual recovery
Then flash the latest already rooted zip file of 5.1.1(.46 build) from development section

Hey guys . Im a bit new to these flashing and all . But previously i have used the lollipop 5.1.1 .232 fw from sony which ive used with root and xposed. But when i create a new prerooted firmware with prf creator for Z2 23.5.A.0.575 from the ftf which i got from xperiablog.net for indian version of d6502, the phone goes into a bootloop of showing the sony logog alone. But when i flash the ftf with the flashtool its working perfectly fine.
The tools which ive used before are : prf creator,supersu2.46,nuts recovery 2.8.6..
this gave me bootlopps , later when i searched on xda i came to know that nuts recovery dont works on mm.
So i changed the recovery to recrootv4. that booted into the boot animation and again restarted for several times . and later stuck on the all apps are starting page .
Pllease help me on achieving a rooted marshmallow for d6502 indian Z2 23.5.A.0.575

I got the same problem when I flashed for the first time.
Later I used these steps and everything is okay now!!.
>> create prf by checking the kernel,FOTAkernel, Modem, LTAlabel.
>> use latest superSU mine was 2.46
>> in recovery put Recroot.
created the prf and then flashed it through recovery

>>when done go back to options and donot reboot but power off the phone.

570 nd 575 are almost identical firmware.even i had this issue which was fixed by flashing bootloop fix.

Hi Bro I have two Z2 D65032 & D6503
I root my D6503 by THIS METHOD
Now i wanna root my other Z2 (D6502)
I tried this below method but i failed
A. FTF file :- 23.5.A.0.575 (D6502)
B. SuperSu :- 2.65 & 2.74
C. Recovery :- Blank
D. Flashable Zips are as below
==>byeselinux_flashable.zip
==>RICDefeat.zip
==>Z2-6.0.1_570_bootloop_fix.zip
==>xposed-v82-sdk23-arm.zip
still its not workin i got no root on my phone D6502
Now the prob is that with my Z2 (D6502) i flash it with 5.1.1 on it rooted with kingo root (superuser) so now how can i get 6.0.1 with root from here now
you should have reccovery now .
>>if not install XZDual recovery latest one that will work on 5.1.1
Now Make pre-rooted firmware using PRF creator v1.3
>> check the kernel,FOTAkernel, Modem, LTAlabel.
>> place superSU [Actually Recroot zip will have the SuperSU inside it so you may not put the SuperSU zip]
>> place Recroot in recovery.
>>place the zip in card and flash it with recovery.
>> reflash the recroot after flashing the zip
>>reboot
Now you will have the root and recovery too.
If bootloop then,
>> open flashtool and prepare the same latest .575 ftf . but please Exclude System while flashing.
>> Flash the phone
>>when done reboot!!
