Question about ROMS for Redmi Note 3 SD. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

So I have noticed there are a lot of ROMs for Redmi note 3 by now. I wanted to ask if there is any ROM that supports OTA i.e. small incremental updates. I wanna try custom ROMs but can't keep clean flashing every time. So wanted to know if any ROMs currently support OTA updates except MIUI.

I don't know how about Ota, many probably don't support it.
But anyway, you don't have to clean install every new build. Just install the rom and wipe dalvik cache. That's all.
You only wipe data if you're changing to completely different rom or if you have some problems after upgrading from previous build (when you didn't wipe the data, just installed rom).

You can always create your own flashable zip which will contain all the files you need.

[Q] Seredipity 9.1 upgrade question.

Just upgraded from 9.0. Question is, will all upgrades require a full wipe? Or is there a way to upgrade like the other roms, where u just flash zip.

Most minor updates don't require a full wipe. Normally the only ones that do require it are when the ROM is switching bases. For example moving from LP3 to LP7 or something similar.

First BACKUP!
Next try flashing 9.1 without a wipe, it should work fine but if it doesn't then a full wipe is required and if you don't want to wipe just restore your backup.

In this case he said specifically that we need to full wipe from 9 to 9.1

question i've heard about other LTE roms on our verizon note 2

ok, i unlocked my bootloader using adam's method .On beans rom 7, twrp installed ,working awesome added a couple mods but, my question is this now thats done can we really flash rom's from other us carriers? and, if we do will we have to flash the patch form SCOTTS,ROMS as a base or can we just flash entire rom with no additions ? I ask cause my i605 is set up for tmobile with global apn as, a system app thru titainium backup and is working fine with data but i would like to just go ahead and flash a tmobile rom but ,obviously dont wanna brick can anyone tell me if i can do this with out any issues and if i should expect issues what should i watch out for in a nut shell i want to just go with tmobile rom , not that theres anything wrong with my rom but would like a bit more choices ,NOT TO OFFEND ANY DEV'S of course. But could use a bit of direction i had seen ADAM'S post aboput but cant seem to get clairity on the subject thank you guys .i read to flash rom ,patch, kernel, then modenm , but if im not using verizon and deleted the ver. apns do i need to still in that order ,or at all

I'm on the Tmobile Jedi Rom with Saber Kernel and everything is fine.
Here's what you do:
put rom on SD Card
factory reset/wipe caches
install rom
install modem/radio
install Scott's patch
reboot
NOTE: It's recommended that you flash a Verzion kernel during the install. Even though Saber kernel is working, that doesn't mean that the other kernels from different carriers will work too.
Make sure that you DO NOT flash an International Note 2 rom. Stick with AT&T, Tmobile, and Sprint
ok where do i stick in the kernel

[Q] Questions on going from one ROM to another

Ok, I purchased a Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon) that is already rooted and is running Jelly Bean's Build 4 by BeansTown106. Love it but want to get the latest and greatest Build 7 on it. I'm a bit confused as to what steps I need to take to do this. I know all the information I need has already been posted and I have been RTFF but I'm kind of lost as to what I have to do FIRST. I mean, it's already rooted so I'm not sure what I need to do first as most of the guides are for stock unrooted phones. I don't know if I have to go back to completely stock or what. Please keep in mind I am new to this regarding ROMs on phones so what may seem obvious to you may not be to me.
Sorry if this has been asked before but I did search and the only thing I found close to my question was from two years ago.
TL;DR
Bought phone already rooted with custom ROM, how do I "upgrade" to the newest version of the ROM?
THANKS!
Download rom, put it on root of sd card, boot into recovery, do a backup of ur current rom, wipe system and cache, install new rom, I wipe cache again and then reboot system. Done.
If you go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032447 and go down to the bottom of his first post it tells u this. This is for beans 7. Dont matter what rom u currently have.

Are you unlocked?
I was thinking the same thing but hes on beans 4 so he had to be at sometime right?

Okay so if you're unlocked do what INCREMENTAL said and if you're not unlocked do this:
1)Flash root66 to return to stock rooted.
2)once youre stock rooted follow this steps to unlock bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348 and then do what incremental posted.

Yes but if beans 4 uses the same install method as beans 1 you only have to flash it with Odin. You dont need unlocked bootloader for that.

Worked great. Thanks.
quick tip
going from one rom to another as in going from Jbeans to Coolrom its mandatory you wipe data, cache, & davlik
going from rom to updated rom as in Jbeans 4 to Jbeans 7 its not necessary to wipe data, (ive never had issues)... might wipe cache and devlik but not data
ALSO
probably best to download titanium back up to backup all your apps

I wouldn't recommend not wiping unless the dev specifically says not to. Some people may not have problems, but most do and its more work in the end. If you don't wipe don't ask why something isn't working or why it's acting up. Beans thread is full of people asking how to fix problems that are only an issue because they didn't wipe.
Follow up question that I can't seem to find a concrete answer for...I am unlocked, running Beans 6 on VRALJB (never took the OTA) with perseus 31.2. If I want to flash a VRALL4 rom (say beans 7 or Eclipse) do I need to do anything beside the standard of putting the rom on the SD card, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache? In other words, does flashing the ROM upgrade me to the new baseband, or do I have to do that first?
Thanks

Updating the baseband is separate from the ROM. Place it on your SD card and install from Recovery.
So I would flash the VRALL4.modem.zip first and then whatever VRALL4 ROM I choose (after wiping, etc). I am guessing after flashing the modem I would NOT reboot before flashing the ROM, correct?

Try to flash the rom but make sure to have a backup inside your phone just in case it doesnt works, you can take the battery off and plug it back one and then restore the backup. If that doesnt work you can always return to vraljb stock, update and unlock.

Fast/goodlooking rom without the playstore/google play services update bug ?

My wife has a lot of problems with here playstore & google login fail to update the services.
Sometimes it works and all seem updated, but later the same problems come back.
I donwloaded some playstore fix apps where I can download some recent apk's but I don't even know which version to download.
She still had following original rom / android:
5.1.1 LMY47V
3.10.49-perf-g6241083
In past I had some problems with the bank app, they said that Xiami possibly had it's own non-original playstore which causes all the trouble...
I have 3 questions :
-Maybe there is a patch apk that solve this problem ?
-Are there nice looking and fast roms here without the play store & google services update issue, maybe with Android 6 or 7 Nougat allready if possible ?
-Is it a big difference Android 7 vs 5.1.1 and worth the update ?
It's been a while since my Samsung that I flashed roms with the TRWP updater tot non-original roms, maybe it's time to check how to flash this device to a non original rom with less problems...
I have the same Redmi Note 3 and no problems with that playstore/services update/chrome login... maybe i'm lucky....
Thanks!
Hey ! First Simply try to factory reset the device assuming you've already gone through clearing Google app data etc .
Or Next what you can try is flashing fastboot rom
Or Unlock bootloader & flash any Nougat roms with opengapps
All the procedures are available on YouTube ?

If she wants miui, then definitely xiaomi.eu roms are good to go.
Else you can flash any custom rom other than miui, followed by opengapps
Thanks, yes I did a factory reset yet and cleared all data, but still the same problem.
I don't know the nougat roms and if there's a big difference with the original Android, as long as the store problems are gone

I've recently flashed pixel experience pie CAF edition on my redmi 5 plus and I'm using the 10.2.1.0 global firmware but the phone is kinda warm, warmer than stock miui.
What do you guys think of these temps?
