Newbie app development help. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, this is my first post here in the forum and i'm looking for a very specific answer, hope you can help me.
So I had this idea for an app that could really optimize the way people work here @ my workplace, but the thing is: i know nothing about programming and development
The question is: how hard would it be/how long would it take for a complete newbie to develop this app? (description below).
It consists basically in a scheduler & task assignment app. It must be able to:
Register two kinds off app users: workers/schedulers (WS) and schedulers only (SO).
Create WS subgroups (something like tags or flags so tasks can be assigned to a specific subgroup of WS').
Allow WS to create their own daily schedule and share it with all schedulers.
Allow SO to have access to all WS' schedules and fill them remotely.
Allow SO to auto-assign tasks to the nearest availabe WS of an specific subgroup.
Allow both WS and SO to see wich tasks were assigned by each one.
This is the main idea, of course there are some minor changes and details that I need to add, but this is enough to get the main idea.
Waiting for an answer, thank you in advance.

[Q] Need Help with Android App Design Refinement

Hi Guys,
I am planning to make an Android App which will act as a virtual Meditation hall, where many others would have connected to, and this App, should show me the count of the number of people that are currently logged in, it must also show me, the current Idea or Notion or say, a goal, for which the people are meditating, Now, just to clarify, in case you are wondering, In Yoga, there is a practice of Group meditation with a unified thought or unified mental state, so, I am planning to emulate this real life activity, for the Yogic practitioners, also.
Anyways, here is how i imagined it would be,
Module 1: Connect to the server
Module 2: log in
Module 3: Suspension, where the user simply keeps the app on and it will update the status of the hall, i.e. whether any new members have joined in or any has left.
Module 4: exit
Now, I must say, that the only background i have is of Flash, and I am not sure how this would help me out, but I just want to know
1) how to implement modules 1,2,3,4. i.e what is the programming elements i should use, no need for detailed explanation, just to point me out to what to study, because i am just about to start learning android programming and i need to have this app up and running ASAP.
If possible, i would also like to hear how you would segment this app idea into your own modules, if you have any advice on it.
P.S Please bear with me if i had commited any of the noobish mistakes of asking in a wrong category or asking something redundant as I am new to this and It was not intentional.
Thank you

[Q] Looking for Android app developer for some advice

Hello,
My first post in this forum so couldn't post it to the right category (10 post rule), sorry..
But it still would probably be one of the best places to find answers to my questions and maybe even find the right guy to do the job.
I'm interested in getting contact with someone who really knows about making apps for business purposes. Actually I'd need an application for all the most used phones operating systems but let's start with an Android and find out what is possible to do and what is not.
Not going to explain here what to I exaxtly need but the main keywords would be Easy user interface, QR code (barcode too maybe?), payment options (or connecting it with some other app to enable the payments, bank transfers, credits cards, paypal etc.).
It's not going to be a standalone app (like flashlight for exmpl.), it needs to be a part of the system so it needs to communicate with server, send info recive info etc.
Feel free to send PM and I'll tell you more specific about what I need.
Best regards,

Android/IOS developers

Hey there,
I had an idea for an app and since I have no programming skills or experience I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a developer or resource they have used to hire a developer.
The idea behind the app is to provide users of said app with the ability to communicate information about their motorcycles. For example,
in talking about clarifying what actions the program is intended to perform
• Search for a motorcycle by color, model, make, location, year, etc.
• Should be able to filter by location
• Should be able to receive and send messages
• User A should be able to upload photos for users B,C,D
(if this is in the wrong section, sorry in advance, I can move it.)
thanks for your time

[Q] Creating a Calendar App

I am looking to create a calendar app which would operate similar to the Google Calendar aside from some unique features I plan to put in. After some initial prototyping of a few of the layouts and research. I can't help but think the scope and time required for initially cloning the GC will significant.
This would be my first android application, am I approaching this correctly. Is this actually a one man project? Thanks in advance
[Just note, this is a question so it should've been posted in the Q&A section]
Yes this is a one man project, adding people to the project will just speed things up.
Firstly you'll need to run yourself through the Android Development section for critical info when creating applications.
If this is your first time working with Java then you're going to need some knowledge with quite a bit of statements.
Creating a calendar similar to GC isn't too hard and can be done quite well. In fact its a great "first" project.
Also I would suggest you create layouts first before you actually go into coding as that will build up a platform to work on.
You will be working with intents and Uri's allot as you would want your users to be able to set their own events.
Here is an official doc on Calendar Provider - http://goo.gl/8f1v3J Loads of great info on creating calendar.
All the best with your project, if you feel you are in a loop and need some help finding out errors and fixing them. Go to stackoverflow. The guys and gals there are very nice and respond quickly with fantastic answers.
Thanks
Thanks for the quick response, didn't realise I posted in the wrong area. Will have a look at the android dev section .

System Managed Devices

Howdy, folks. I hope someone can help answer this question. Mods, if I posted this in the wrong section, please relocate.
I'm helping a friend who is expanding his business by hiring 3 field sales reps and they need to be provisioned with smartphones and tablets for doing quotes, reviewing e-blueprints, accessing email, and so on. So, that's six devices in question, with more to come.
There's a question about whether iOS or Android is the better platform for what we're gong to need. Yes, I know XDA is Android-centric, but this decision isn't about what I want to do, but about what's right for his business. So, your honest input is appreciated.
Essentially, what I think we need is an ACL Management utility of some sort that will support these functions:
Remote access to configure devices in the field
Track and 'nuke' devices if lost/stolen
Remote backup of data/settings
Remote install/configuration of apps by managment
Enforce password protection
Good antivirus/malware/firewall software(?)
Prevent users from installing or deleting data/apps
Prevent users from changing settings
Though I have some technical skills, a 'dashboard' style interface to manage the devices and set a group policy would be preferred. I am aware of Android Device Manager, but I was unable to determine if it will do all of the above that we need.
If you think I've left anything out, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help!
