after upgrading to marshmallow, my battery usage says 70-80% battery used over wifi. it seems kinda odd. cause screen should be the first on the list. can't post an image as um a new member here.
anyone else facing this after marshmallow update. seems like wifi is draining my battery. any way to fix this? plese someone help me out
Well, probably WiFi seems to drain your battery most because it is the most used feature in your phone. It shows the same on my phone in standby Stamina disabled, and it's likely draining 80% of 1% of battery per hour. Tested E2303 while I was sleeping.
Hi im from south america and when i flashed MM i took the customized usa one, yesterday i downloaded the generic LAM firmware and flashed ONLY modem, now seems to be working, or at least, i dont have the wifi taking the battery like before
go to setting > locaition > scanning > off wifi scan + blutooth scan ...
then go to setting > wifi > sett (WIFI ، keep WIFI on during sleep) on never ... restart your phone ... and enjoy MM ^_^
Wait for few days it stabilizes mine was 80% first day than 40% next and for few days it held but now it's 1%
So i thought it was fixed by reflashing modem, but the bug is still there.
I left the phone overnight with wifi off but lte data on, also wifi scanning in location off and it reports that wifi used most energy.Its not like a "drain" but it seems to be a bug in the report when you arent connected to a wifi network.
This bug and the battery icon that looks weird, annoys me a bit...
Had the same problem! I reflashed the phone with the nordic version instead of the greek that I had in the first place! This fixed it for me!
I flashed a dodgey MM firmware and had really crappy WiFi signal along with insane WiFi battery drain. I've given up flashing 6.0 for the time being (I'll see if an OTA arrives, still got my DRM keys) I just flashed LP so it's fine for me. Not really sure what you can do, if I flash Marshmallow and find a fix I'll be sure to tell you.

How do you flash the Modem on its own? Is it the same as creating a full FTF file but just selecting the Modem file?
You select the desired ftf in flashtool and before flasg you gotta exclude everything but modem in this case
Mee too at the first 2-3 boots wifi drained about 70% of the batterie but now it's about 5-10% so just wait
U said things r off in my phone also it's draining

Dude! 2.3.4 only just leaked! You'll need to wait a little while longer.
Anyways I'm seeing very little drops at the moment, but this always depends of what is running.

A fully charged battery will not drop that quickly in two hours something is wrong .
Reflash the firmware or wait for release of finished 2.3.4 as i understand this is only a test release .

Please check your battery usage info in the settings. There is a very well known bug related to Wifi Sharing eating your battery, even if you did not enable Wifi Sharing.
If your phone gets hot, and battery drains very quickly (in 1-2 hours), this is most probably related to the Wifi Sharing bug.
You can freeze wifi sharing if you have a rooted device, or you will need to check your battery usage info from time to time(mostly when you feel your phone becomes hot even when it stays in your pocket) and force stop Wifi sharing if it starts to show up.
Hope this helps
If this is not the case with you, I do not have a clue

Hy all. Having problems with superuser after flashing darky's rom xxkg1. I don't have enough posts to post it in the dev section so I do it here. I get a FC when try to acces superuser. Do you know what the problem could be? I also reflashed supercore kernel and yet nothing. Thank you in advance.

Was just an example. If I dial any mmi code, will get a message like: "mmi code invalid or inserted wrong".
Am I right that the new custom 2.3.4 ROM (Villain, Darky...) are not using a 2.3.4 Kernel only the 2.3.4 firmware and radio? So this might not improve battery life significantly since it is still an old Kernel.
The battery drain bug could therefore only be solved with a 2.3.4 Kernel.
I am new to Android, so are my assumptions right?

I was using LiteningRom for a couple of weeks and when I saw 2.3.4, I tried to update ROM asap. But I couldn't even flash it with Odin as the whole process freezes in the middle...
Few hours later, I achieved installing a 2.3.4 ROM (Infusion) and I'm on it since yesterday. As far as I can see, there's absolutely nothing better in battery management : AOS is still in top of battery usage after moderate usage.
With my SGS, 2.3.4 had solved battery drain, it seems with SGSII it's not the same. But as Schindler33 said, maybe it's because of the kernel.
Wait for the official firmware to come out over kiss and then we can all see if battery life is improved.
Yep, it seems the leaked version is really NOT a final one ^_^
Hope the final will solve this battery drain
Hey everyone,
After flashing via flashtool the global 2.3.4 i noticed that the battery was draining way faster than normal. I should mention that i didn't wipe user data before the flash.
From what it seemed, "Android System" took up around 65% of the battery overnight without letting the phone go to sleep mode, losing 90% percent of battery in 8 hours.
My original setup was the stock rom and the doomlord v9. kernel. While trying to fix the issue n make the phone be able to go back to sleep i wiped user data n flashed the stock rom n kernel again with/without root, the SE tweaked v.5 rom, etc n the issue didn't seem to get fixed.
If anyone has any ideas on fixing that, or if it's safe to downgrade to 2.3.3 please share.
~The only thing running was a messenger app which usually uses 2-4% n my battery drain was around 3-5% overall with no use on 2.3.3 with the same setup.
(I'd post screenshots but the forum isn't letting me post outside links yet)

yeah, i noticed the same thing last night too. wifi causes a wakelock for some reason which didn't ever happen on 2.3.3.
I even relocked the bootloader n upgraded to 2.3.4 via PCCompanion just to be sure i'm not doing anything wrong with the flashing and roms but doesn't seem to be fixed in any way..
Thanks for the info!

I just checked on pc companion and it's not available for me yet in the UK with 2.3.4 global.
It's not available for me here in Greece either.
I've done some reading around at forums n see what other people have been experiencing, n i somewhere read that in one case the issue was the SD Card (which is weird) and in another it was the automatic time setting via internet. I'm doing some tests right now trying different combinations, but from what i see the phone did go to sleep with Wifi on after i turned off the auto time setting.. Nothing's for sure yet though.
Interesting. I've make ftf file with LT15 loader and uploading now.
Tonight I'll try and share it.
Well, i'm confused. My phone seems to be back to normal for now. I put the SD back and enabled internet time, restored most of my apps to see if the wakelock would happen again but it's still working properly. Which means i don't have a conclusion of some sort.
~Update: Sim Card doesn't seem to be recognized now for some weird reason..
~Update 2: Backup & Restore was the issue here, after i deleted it n rebooted the phone SIM is working fine.

the only think i found is that it doesn't stay awake with all routers, it only happends if the router is WPA2 locked and it is "n" standard, the phone will do no problem if it is connected to a open b&g network.

You can either flash the doomkernel v9 that roots the phone by itself, or boot your phone into recovery mode and install the RootXperia if you prefer stock settings
Use Juice defender, you can allways gain some battery time.

Hello!
I've searched for help on some threads and got no answer yet.. so I'm creating a new one, to see if i can finally find someone to help me!
Here is my problem:
Since 2 days ago, after flash a new version of the rom I use (I know this may have been caused by the updated, thats why I downgraded to check, and still got the problem), I noticed a battery drain. My phone loss 10% charge overnight(10h +-), on 100% deep sleep time (according to BetterBatteryStats) with everything off, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Mobile Data, 2G network, no apps running, etc. I searched for what was draining it, and found out that Cell Standby was active 100% of the time also. Did a search on BBS, and found out that 2 things were active, again, all the night: "No or Unknown Signal" and "No data conexion". Then, changed and tried some different modems. thinking that it was the problem (matching RILs also). I was wrong.. after testing 6-7 different modems, in all of them my phone still got the drain. After that, my last alternative was to think it was a carrier fault! Well, it wasn't.. Just bought 3 different carrier Chips to test all of them.. and yet, "No or Unknown Signal" , "No data conextion" and Cell Standby were there, in top of consumption list.
I hope someone can help me.. this drain is freaking me out, because before this issue, I was losing only 1-2% over night with Android 4.2.1!
Some info:
-Model: Int SGS3(gt-i9300);
-ROM: Latest CM10.1(4.2.1) kang by Temasek;
-Kernel: Temasek's Custom Kernel;
-Modem/Ril: XXELKC (matching);
-Carrier: TIM - Brasil (gsm = 1800);
Thanks for reading

Problem solved.. Just reporting here, someone may need ^-^
Here's what I did (ofc I don't really know this whole process is necessary, but it worked):
1. Mega Wipe Script (Formats the whole internal sd card; BE CAREFUL);
2. Flash stock 4.0.4 rom;
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset;
4. Flash CM10.1;
5. Discharged the phone completely (untill it doesn't boot anymore);
6. Charged the phone to 100%;
7. Yet with the AC plugged in, deletted batterystats.bin;
8. Turn the phone off;
9. Unplug the cable;
10. Boot phone :good:
This thing about deleting the batterystats.bin is not to calibrate battery, because it only containts data about processes and their battery consumption.
Was just a way to fix a wrong value the phone was getting from the Cell Standby, idk if the fix is there ^-^
Peace.
Basically two days is not long enough to recalibrate or test a battery .

Hello, I have new LG P760. First thing, what I've done was update to Jelly Bean. But I experiences battery drain. The problem is still here. Can it be hardware problem? Is there someone with experience like that? Sorry for my english
Exactly same for me. It happened after JB update. I found that device stays active even screen is locked when mobile data are on (battery stats app).
Conditions: factory reset after update, no additional apps installed
I hope just a bug and will be fixed soon.
Hello guys,
According to my experience, I think this is happening with you coz both of you flashed JB rom which is not for your country, there is no any solution to this problem until you got jb update for your own country.
I also faced same problem and got solved after update for my country (india).

it seems like it is happening on all jellybean roms on all countries..
i also use official jb rom for my country (indonesia) and yes the cell standby and system idle totally drain my battery
well if this bothers you that much then maybe revert back to ICS is the best solution
Its exactly the same problem for me too!
I'm using official JB update (austria) and for me its the same too!
This isn't a nice experience!

Yeah I've noticed a increase in battery drain on my P769 running V20D.
On ICS my battery would last 2 to 4 days on average, but on JB I can barely get 2 days
Same here
I updated my phone via wi-fi with the official rom. And had the same problem. Battery drain. So i downgraded back to ics. I prefer battery life instead of project butter and google now.:good:
Now I'm just guessing, but it could be the google now app. Try shutting it off or don't allow the google location stuff.
Many were talking about the Google Now service which was a battery drainer. You should try and see the results. I also tried it,and the top 2 consumers were still Cell Standby and Phone Idle.
This thread might help with the battery drain. I think csrow found the problem

This is the same experience I'm having after the recent JB update on my P769. Battery life is now about half of what it was on ICS. Cell Standby at 35%, Phone idle 22%, Screen 20%, Wifi 11%..
Used to have plenty of juice mod/heavy use, was quite impressive. Now I have to carry a charger.
I too experienced crazy battery drains after upgrading to JellyBean (OTA update, P769 T-Mobile prepaid, pure stock, not rooted). I tried turning off Google Now after reading this thread, but it didn't seem like it helped much.
Last night we decided that my wife is going to use the phone instead, so I factory reset the phone before I gave it to her so she can start over fresh with her google accounts, etc. She left home this morning with the phone fully charged, and when I came home from work in the evening I checked and she had more than 85% left! Granted she didn't use it much throughout the day as she still carries her old phone, but she did use the phone to make some phone calls/chat and take some pictures. Just as a comparison, the last time I had the phone with me before the factory reset, the phone was draining battery maybe about 15%/hour just sitting on my desk.
So, for those of you experiencing battery drains, maybe you can try doing a factory reset if you haven't. I realize this is not something most people want to do unless it's guaranteed it will fix the problem, but if it's as annoying as my experience, maybe it's worth to try.

Hi!
my wife's Galaxy Alpha is on stock, bought a couple of days ago.
The phone looses battery even in Offline Mode apparently because of kernel wakelocks. Attached are the battery stats of a fully charged phone after around 7h in Offline Mode (over night). It seems there was a process waking it up all the time. Any idea what this is: lli_cp_wlock ??
Many thanks

I would try a factory reset and flash latest firmware via odin. Firmware can be found here and manual for flashing firmware here (both sites in german language as i assume you are german according to the screenshots).
There is also an option in Kies (PC software for samsung phones) that can recover firmware problems (in menu select tools).
I dunno what the software shows you, but this doesn't look like a wakelock. However while working on CM I tried to get NFC working. The NFC hardware drained the battery much faster so I removed it again. Without NFC the battery lasts for more than two days normally ...
---------- Post added at 09:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:04 PM ----------
lli_cp_wlock is a wakelock of the modem
problem remains still
I have tried resetting the phone, the problem still remains...
is it maybe a hardware problem?
