Turning the volume all the way down doesn't enable silent mode. It stops at vibrate. Is there any way or widget to quickly toggle the silent / do not disturb mode without digging into the settings?
I believe there a toggle it in the pulldown menu. Keep pressing it until silent.

I use the Automatic Profile a lot but occasionally have to manually switch to silent or vibrate using the various toggles found on most roms. The problem is that when I toggle on vibrate etc from the automatic profile and then toggle off again, it returns you to the normal profile rather than to automatic. Does anyone know of a switch that can turn automatic profile on/off in the same way as the many vibrate amd silent switches? I know I can do it through the settings menu but a toggle switch or shortcut would be nice.
has anyone worked out how to edit the pulldown menu on the Sg2?
I would love to know how to remove the Sound Vibration and Auto Rotation buttons from it as i never use them. Would also prefer to have Airplane mode on there instead.
You can have Airplane mode if you press Power button for a second.
Besides I don't think there is a mod out yet which will allow you to modify the Notification menu items, if you want it badly then only option is to go for a Custom ROM.
Regards.
One unfortunate limitation of the CM11 lockscreen is that you can't toggle silent mode or flashlight using slider shortcuts. (Yes, you can use the notification drawer or quick settings menu, but those are more cumbersome.)
I've been experimenting with Tasker App Factory, and I've just created two very simple apps: one to toggle the flashlight (torch) and one to toggle silent mode. You can set these apps as slider shortcuts on the lockscreen. I'm not a developer, so don't expect much, but I decided to share these in case they're useful to someone.
great, i had such a habit from old samsungs where holding volume key would turn flash on by default. thanks!
i use this menu: lock screen -> action buttons. there is an option to turn on toggle sound and torch, but it is not visualized.
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

If I'm not mistaken, the default DND mode is set to Alarm Only. Once you change to a different mode, the next time you enable DND it will default to the last selected mode.
On Xperias, you can enable DND by VOL DOWN or quick settings. The system will give you a choice of modes and duration time.
There's also an option to set DND automatically via rules, which can be found in sound settings.
This is all I know regarding DND.
I want to use a widget on the home screen to quickly toggle sound modes: Normal, Vibrate, Silent. There are many apps on the Play store which can do so.
However, after Lollipop, Silent mode is actually Priority Mode, and in Marshmallow it's Do Not Disturb.
The problem is, toggling to DND via the widget seemingly always defaults to Alarm Only regardless of the last selected mode described above.
My question: Is there any way to change the default mode for DND so that the widget can toggle to DND Priority Only mode instead of Alarm Only mode?
My phone is rooted, so I'm open to root methods of achieving the desired result if necessary.
If it requires an app to control, are there any that exists which can do what I want?
Thanks!
After getting my op3t I was quite disappointed when I saw that you couldn't have silent-vibration-normal modes on the slider. Neither you can hold the down volume button to get to vibration mode.
I tried many apps that tried to modify the slider setting but none of them really worked. But finally I came across this.
This app won't substitute dnd for vibration mode but it will give you fast and easy access to vibration mode. Just download it and set the quick setting tile within the first 5.
In the screenshot you will be able to see there is the vibration mode symbol. That is the tile I'm talking about. You only need to press it once to get into vibration mode. And to get volume again you only need to press the volume up button.
But it gets better. Even if you can get to silent mode from the tile. When the slider is on the silent position this title will change to silent and won't change even if you press it.
