Fingerprint Settings Menu Crash - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, New here, Had my G5 a good few months and absolutely love it!
I've not ran into any issues until yesterday evening 22/07/16. I did the software update, which was around 470mb, and since my fingerprints have not work, the phone then went into a Boot Loop, I restored it to factory settings and and then attempted to add some fingerprints, however each time I go into Settings > Fingerprints & Security > Fingerprints > Next, but as soon as I hit next the app immediately freezes and after a short period of time crashes with the usual message "Unfortunately com.android.settings isn't working" with the usual options to wait or exit, both result in exiting. I have tried reverting back to different stock roms but no luck, was hoping someone may have an idea of what is causing it. I have been through all of the app settings resetting data and cache on various things. I also commented on the facebook app crash post as this was also occurring but reverting to a previous version of facebook solved that one.
Current Software Details are as follows:
Android Version 6.0.1
Android Security Patch Level 2016-06-01
Baseband Version MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.4-00032-M8996FAAAANAZM-1
Kernel Version 3.18.20
Build Number MMB29M
Software Version V10d-EUR-XX
Thanks!

[Q] Stock Unlocked 4.1.2 GT-I9300[T] Freezing when WiFi is Connected

Hi All,
I've got an stock Unbranded 4.1.2 GT-I9300[T] on Three UK and over the last few days it has been repeatedly freezing. Out of frustration I've done a factory reset and left it with just the stock apps running. From there I've narrowed it down to WiFi, when it's enabled the phone will operate correctly for a few minutes and then it will freeze. When the freeze occurs some animations like the Update icon in the status bar or a Live Wallpaper will continue for a few seconds but the phone remains unresponsive. From there the only way to get it to respond is to do a hard reset by holding down the power button.
I've got a few extra details from the About menu but I'm not sure how much help it'll be:
Baseband Version
I9300XXELLA
Kernal Version
3.0.31-742798
Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated. I've had the phone for 6 months and gone through two OTA updates without significant issue but this bug is causing me more than a few problems.
Exact same issue here.
I flashed the latest I9300XXELLA to the phone using ODIN and then did a factory reset.
It now freezes every few minutes, usually after I've pulled down the notification menu.
Its also restarted itself several times.
Can anyone suggest any fixes?
Some more info, I've now had two more system freezes while using Speed Test and Downloading an app, both on mobile data. Seems to be something to do with the Wireless firmware?
I am facing the exact same problem in India on XXELLC which was up for download on 28th Jan 2013.
I have wiped the phone and the cache several times but the same issue of freezing.
Anyone have a solution pls help.....
Same problem.... with stock firmware

LG G4 Unfortunately com.android.settings stopped working

i have LG G4 h810 5.1 official then after i update it to marshmallow using auto updates and when i clicked on security option in settings then i get error "Unfortunately com.android.settings stopped working" i try factory reset many times but nothing happens i think that the latest update which i applied to my phone has an error inside it.
can someone help me ?
same issue here man, i had been browsing all over internet trying a lot of solutions, none of them worked i tried to root the phone, install a new firmware, i cant find the right firmware for it. is there somebody who can help us?
I'm stuck with the same issue... How to fix it...
Have you guys tried other firmware such as Lineage os or cyanogenmod?
I'm stuck with same issue... Can't install apps from unveriffied source.
I also have been on this issue of setting app crashing when I try enter "Apps" in settings and click on any app, for weeks trying to fix it, including factory reset 10 times, clearing cash and starting new account on my phone, after I noticed it on my seldom used LG G4. But now it looks like I finally fixed it a minute ago (my com.android.settings stopped crashing, at least for now.) I used free App Manager by AndroidDeveloperLB from Google Play Store. It has option... something like uninstalling updates (or rolling a selected app back to the original installation). I uninstalled the update, and app "Settings" stopped crashing. Now I am waiting to see if system will install this update again, and if it causes crashing again... then I will think what to do... If crashes again, then I guess I will have to do a research and block updates for this app somehow)
Am stuck with same problem too. Cant install apps or set a lock code for my LG G4 H810 from ATT running on Marshmallow

I just fixed this issue on mine, only thing I did was restore my system through twrp. I made backups of prettymuch everything while the phone was experiencing bootloop because I guess I stopped google play services with airfrozen. Seems to have that effect anyway... So before factory resetting, decided to do a backup of system and data and prettymuch all the essential things, then reset and got the problem popping up in a fresh reset phone. Strange that my original more hacked and unlocked rom seemed not to have it... I couldn't enable debugging so I had to resort to twrp to figure out what to do and took a gamble and restored the system. Wow, so shocked when it showed up normal again.
So only take away is that the problem is isolated in the system part not data. If it is something to do with google play store and maybe I rolled things back to a previous version, I have no clue. Wish I could say for sure. If you don't have twrp, get it and you'll be back up in no time in some form I'm sure..

[HELP] Random Reboots since a few months

Hi there,
I am very happy with my Moto Z, but since about 8 weeks the phone keeps randomly rebooting, even over night when I don't interact with the phone. I did already a factory reset, installed less applications as before, but after about one week the random reboots returned. Does someone else also have this issue, and has probably a solution?
Some system details:
- Moto Z, Andoird 7.0 (stock), reteu
- Build NPLS25.86-31-5
- Baseband M8996_1239.53.01.12R SRS
- Kernel [email protected] #1 from 30/03
I fear everything started with the first 7.0 update installed via OTA. I know that safe mode is often suggested, but then I can't install any application for about one or two weeks to check stability. That's actually a no-go for me.

Galaxy C5000 fingerprint problem

Hello. You may think the thread is revising some of those in this forum, but i browsed a lot couldnt find proper answer for my issue.
My galaxy C5000 running on Android 8.0 now. 2 years i have been using it upgrading periodically from android 6. i never had issues with finger print before. The phone never rooted.
few month ago upgraded to android 8.0 was working well then another update came by samsung saying some kind of security and other update patches so i did it. i guess after that my phone started indicating popups fingerprint sensor not responding if you see it repeatedly restart the phone. i did several times sometimes worked sometimes not. then i did firmware installation and reset via odin which downloaded samsung official site as i know. after it worked for some days but now not responding. now sometimes fingerprint starts working by itself and the stops again. i cannot identify whether its a phsyical damage or software problem. now the questions are:
1) is it a software or a hardware problem?
2) can it be related to last security update pach (with the volume of up to 200 mb) which was after android 8.0 installation?
3) can reverse back to android 7 from android 8?
Thank you for your patience and help.

Phone constantly rebooting

Hi all,
Last night my phone started to randomly reboot itself, even in Safe Mode! It's now to the point where I can't even login -- I enter my pin, the 'Phone is starting' overlay shows for a while, and then it suddenly reboots. I haven't installed a new app for at least 2 weeks at this point, and the reboot was happening before I updated my apps. After updating, things seemed to get worse maybe?
Is there any way I can salvage my phone or do I have to hard factory reset via hardware buttons?
Its called bootloop. you need to flash your phone to fix this problem and flashing can fix all the software issues of your device.
I was afraid of that... Just a bit worrying that it happened randomly when running stock.
Ok, thanks!
I had same issue when ran android 9 in 2019, however, I fix this issue by doing a clean flash. Yes, you will lose everything, so make sure you do a backup via google.

If you didn't add an app or update that caused it either the boot load got corrupted or it's a hardware issue. The flash memory should not spontaneously get corrupted unless it's defective ie a hardware issue. However anything is possible... quantum physics.
More than likely it was a poorly written app or update that caused it. 3rd party launchers and power management apps are prime suspects. It may take a week or more to manifest its self as a boot loop. Any signs of system lagging or instability should be taken seriously as they are the only warnings you may get before a boot loop*.
A virus or rootkit** is another prime candidate.
Do a factory reset now. Be wary of which apps you load and avoid any updates until the system is know to be stable. Then add apps and updates one at a time. Updates many times aren't really needed.
Over a year ago I had 2 back to back boot loops on my Note 10+... yes, and 2 factory resets and full reloads.
The prime suspects were as I mentioned above. Neither one was reloaded after the 3red factory reset. A year latter that 3rd reload is still running fast and stable. Fun times
**if your Android version is 9 or above a factory reset will purge any virus or rootkit as long as you don't inadvertently reintroduce it. Be careful what apps you load and what you download.
If the Android version is 8 or below, they are suspectable to a nasty rootkit that requires a firmware reflash to purge. Pie and above are not.
1. For me, it was also itself rebooting, only while phone were in pocket / case. So do not use any of them (searched on reddit forum, was exactly same topic)
2. Maybe sim ejection tool is not correct be inside, don't often open and close it
