I am looking for such Windows Application since a time, have you found any way to see the icon. .
i'm looking for...
i just tried a Droid Explorer but i can not found a way to explore on the Actual PC. then i have try an other Windows program called Icon viewer but than only works on a dll and exe files, i try changing the extension but didn't work...
the only way that i think it should other that writing a windows applications is to use the emulator with a Virtual Device, then run a File Explorer APK and look in to it. i did but i try to find where is the SD Content in to the PC and i think i found it in to the /User/.android/avd but no lucky putting the apk file on it, i will check it later but i think that one way to do it, i need to read more about the content storage when using the emulator..
Maybe someone could make an addon for Total Commander. Should be very possible to have it extract and use the icon inside the APK.
It already has addons for Blizzard MPQ files, C64 emulator files and Amiga emulator files. Seems very possible that it could get an addon to show this icon as well. I use it to browse APKs already.
i was checking File Expert and just notice you can share or see the SD card content from your PC, but also notice, the APK's you can see how the actual icon for the app looks like...
is there someone could make a modification to this that we will be able to see our Hard drive Apps also?? or could be also good to have a chrome or firefox extension that allow us so see the icon of the app, i'm not expert on this...
regards

other than that, searching myself and ran across your question
Rob
I unzipped the 2nd_Albert_APP_update.zip and found the structure
\system\app and list of *.apk files.
question 1:
can I remove an apk file from 2nd_Albert_APP_update.zip in \system\app like twitter.apk without breaking the install process?
question 2:
Can I just add my own demo.apk files by simply copying them and saving the same archive and location mentioned above?

First of all wrong section. Second off if verification signatures are off, then you might* be able to assuming he used the package command, you might be able too.

sorry for wrong section, I was stuck between sections where to post.
I figured a metafile edit or package signing tool might be needed I did not want a simple yes response. I guess I will hijack my own post and change it a more dev type question.
Any rough steps you can give me to do this myself that I can then do searches on?
figure I'll have to
download android sdk.
examine metafile xy.z
look for section [] and edit
place apks in structure
buildpacktool.exe to look for.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

um sure. So first of the great thing is you really shouldn't have to do much. The basic premiss of this is that it uses a update.zip to flash via CWM, which means you shouldnt have to sign the package. Basic premiss, is I would first try unziping deleting and putting packages into ./system/app/ rezipping and then trying to flash that. That should be good enough to make your own. Second off if you really want to, you can look at the meta-data/.../update-script. There are some good guides on how to script this file.

I received a Text message sent from an E-Mail and I was wondering if it was possible to find the individual file on the filesystem holding the metadata for the E-Mail.
If so, would I have to root the phone? And where would that file be located?
I'm a techie, so no need to warn me that I could hurt my phone or files - I'm only looking to READ, not WRITE, and I'd be making a copy of that file beforehand anyways and porting it to a PC in order to check it with whatever program is necessary to decrypt (Probably only need a hex editor, but if someone knows better, feel free to pass that information along, too )
Anyways, is it possible?
Thank you for your time.

You can get access to system files by using a file manager. To edit files, you need to root your phone.
If it is *.txt attachment that was attached in that mail, go to downloads and look for it.
Now, serious. Why so serious?
If you are looking to decompile that mail app, use APKTOOL to decompile. Search on xda for the links. :good:
The apk file can be found on the device in: /system/app/ here
If the apk file is odexed, then you have to first deodex it to make it as one apk file Search on xda for the tutorials. :good:
If you are asking to decrypt mails, ask NSA   :silly:
I am a newbie here. So I don't know where that file is located exactly.
Press thanks if I have helped you.

Just to reiterate, the person sent me a TEXT. I open my text app and I read their text. I want to find the file containing that exact text. (Extra info, info you don't really need to know and MAY have confused you: The text was sent via an E-Mail... Meaning they logged into their E-Mail, typed my phone number, and my phone received a TEXT from that E-Mail address straight to my SMS inbox). I'm not sure if I was clear enough on that. But I am trying to open an SMS sent straight to my phone AS IF from another phone.
What did you mean why so serious? I'm just trying to seem professional in my question. Hate to confuse people. Also: Decrypying a file should a) not be necessary, but MAY be (still highly doubt it), and B) Does not require NSA lol. I can do it myself, and if not, I've got a buddy who could do it for sure. But ALL I'M TRYING TO GET is the "metadata" from the SMS that'll HOPEFULLY give me the metadata for the E-Mail.
Thanks for your time.
Solution
I think I have found a solution to your problem.
This is the absolute path to SMS and MMS DB on most android devices:
/data/data/com.android.providers/telephony/databases/mmssms.db
It is the file where these messages are stored.
I don't own this device but still I have posted the screen shots
I think you get what I am trying to say.
Press thanks if I helped
Hi, I just wanted to ask if someone knows what is the file of the image attached. I've done some research on the internet, but I've found nothing related to my case.I don't know where this file comes from and I've never saw a ".mn" file before. If I try to open it with HTML viewer, it doesn't open. If I try with Chrome, Chrome warns me that it needs the permission of dowload (wich of course I don't give, 'cause I don't know what kind of file this is). Any other way to open it doesn't work. So I thought I can ask here to know if anyone of you guys have some idea about it. Thanks
PS: if this is the wrong section, I ask the admins to kindly move it where they believe it's right if possible
Did you ever get an answer?
