Enable MTP on MIUI 8 - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So somehow my MTP mode got disabled on MIUI 8 Global, and the app I used before to lead me to USB options no longer works. Solutions?

If the menu with MTP and PTP options doesn't appear, try installing MIUI USB Settings.
I don't know if it's the same, but on 7 if you disable both MTP and PTP the menu doesn't show anymore.

When i turned off MTP on miui, that app won't help me anymore. I had to reboot into recovery and enable MTP.

[Q] Problem with ICS alfa 0.6 and WIN7

after installing 0.6 alpha ok.And then I installed some programs from market and add some games. But when I wanted to connect tab with win7, pc sees it as a MTP USB device and then in Device manager the yellow triangle on the MTP USB device. When I try to install the drivers again, said they installed well. Please help
Turn off USB debug see if that helps. I had to do it with win XP pro. It's in Developer settings.

what worked for me was switching between PTP and MTP. Not sure how it worked. But it worked for me.
How to switch between PTP and MTP?

Click to collapse
Go to Settings > Storage > Click the Menu button in the right top corner > Choose USB Computer Connection and there you have it.
If Media Device (MTP) is not checked, check it and then try, that worked for me. If not, try what other people in this thread suggested.
Media Device (MTP) is not checked,i check it and it work. Thank you so much my friend.
Enabling MTP under storage settings worked for me on Windows 7 x64. I had the same situation as you before, not sure why MTP is off by default.

[Q] enabling MSC mode

I just installed ICS on my SGSII, and am not sure how to enable MSC mode.
Connect your mobile with pc and there will be a option on the notification bar and it will ask you about the connection mode
It says "connected as a media device. touch for other usb options." i click on it, and there are two options: media device (mtp) - checked, and camera (ptp) not checked

Unable to enable debug mode.

Im running CM9 beta 10 by Maclaw studios and I'm unable to activate the debug mode.
On connecting the device to the computer, I get the usual notification saying USB connected. i then go to the settings and enable the debug mode. As soon as I mark that option, my SD card gets unmounted. Then I get a notification saying debug enabled, but this lasts only for a second after which the debug notification has disappeared. However, in the settings menu, the debug option is still enabled.
Now, If I de-select the debug option in the settings menu, I get the notification saying that the USB is now connected
I would appreciate any suggestions regarding this. Anything short of re-flashing would be awesome.
Thanks.

How to default to MTP

Tried a few searches already and couldn't find anything. Is there a way to default to MTP when connecting to USB instead of usb installer. I've deleted the iso so nothing actually pops up, but i have to check MTP 2-3 times before it will actually change.

It should show up as a notification (when you connect the phone to your computer) or go to Developer options and search for "Select USB Configurations"
if you can't find Developer Options, first go to About phone and tap "Build number" until it appears
check your cable
try a different USB port in your computer
if it seems to be a software error tell us about your OS (distribution, version, etc.)
