Well, I just got my 5x, upgrading from a moto g2, so the thing is that when I was going to text in the moto, once I hold press the space bar it gave me the option to change to the other language, Spanish in my case, I've tried to look around everywhere but unlucky to be able to add 2 languages.
Thank you people

I am relatively new to Android so my first exposure is via this Motorola Photon 4G. I've had an iPhone for years and I have become so accustom to typing on it. It seems a lot more fluid and responsive. I can type paragraphs of text relatively error free. But with Android (or maybe its this Photon), I barely can get through two sentences.
I don't know if it is the stock dictionary installed or what, but the suggestions are always off, and it frequently puts periods in the middle of my sentences. That could be just a layout thing, but I don't know? Granted, I know you can download different text apps (like Chomp) to get iPhone type themes, but I'm talking about just basic typing more so than a theme. Like if I'm in an email, typing a note, editing a Word doc, anything.
Is there something I can install that would help? Forgive me for the noob-ness of that question.

Yeah, I get the random periods as well, but I've never used an iOS soft keyboard. Stock and SwiftKey do that. Google Swype, sign up for the beta (it's free). It's a whole different kind of typing. It's got its own faults, but it's far more efficient than any tapping solution I've seen. Though the ICS keyboard is a little better in knowing where you want your fingers to go than in GB, but you don't need ICS just to type.
I tried Swype and just couldn't get into it. Didn't seem natural.

I have a Nexus 4 running stock 4.2.1 (rooted) and here is my issue with the gesture typing and predictive text. Anytime I try to use a word that google apparently believes is not appropriate like "****" I have to stop and and type it out. Mind you that spell check does not think it's a misspelled word so there is no option to add it to the User Dictionary. It just will not show up as an option for either predictive text or gesture typing. Obviously these words have somehow been identified in google's stock dictionary so that they are not part of the pool of suggested words - probably along the lines of how the auto-complete of google searches are now censored.
Does anybody have a workaround for this? It's incredibly annoying and I don't like the fact that google is dictating what standard English words can and cannot be part of gesture typing.
One thought I had was that the stock dictionary probably has those words marked with a simple boolean flag, so if somebody knew how to access the dictionary and reset that flag, the problem would be solved. I don't know much about android development but this can't be too hard. If I had the time I'd undertake the project myself.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hey yeah I had the same problem... It's stupid that they blocked swear words... The only thing I figured out to get past it is that if you type in any word that isn't in the dictionary and select to add it you can type in anything you want, before confirming adding the word, including swear words and then you can type them with gesture typing. At least it works on my rooted Verizon galaxy nexus running jb 4.2.1 sorcery v4... Peace...

How do you add words to the dictionary? I'm very Android literate, and have been using Swype for a long time. The problem I have is that sometimes when I press on a word that it suggests, but doesn't recognize, it will give me the option to add it to the dictionary. Other times it will bring a box up above the word with several suggestions. It seems erratic and not very consistent.

Settings >> language and input >> Personal dictionary and then add in whatever swears/words you want and it'll work when using the gesture typing. At least it works for me.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else having problems since it became a paid app with it lagging a decent amount of time upon opening?

Hello,
i googled for quite some time now, but I couldn't find ANY answer. So I guess this is not possible but I thought I can ask here. Maybe someone knows something.
Is it possible, while typing with the stock android keyboard (Jelly Bean) to switch to the Numpad? I've uploaded two pictures to make things clear.
In the first pic you see the normal android keyboard. In the second one you see the numpad, but which only occurs if the text field only allows numerical input. What I want is to switch from the normal keyboard to the numerical one.
Example:
I am writing a note (in my fav. note app) or a sms. In this note/sms I type some longer Numbers (wlan-key, phone number, birthday... you name it). This is when I want to switch to the numpad, because I cannot describe how much I hate to input numbers when they are not in a 3x3 grid (like a numpad).
In the stock Android Keyboard, when I press the number button (bottom left) the numbers appear in a ROW on the top. I honestly don't get how people can type numbers with this.... It would drive me crazy. I could talk hours about how much i hate it. But I want to keep this kind of short
Swype has this feature: either hold the numbers key next to the swype button. Or swype from the swype-key to the t and the numpad appears. Really nice!
I was just wondering if something like this is possible for the Android keyboard.
greetings
PS: I tried a lot of different keyboards and only swype had both: swype input and numpad. Why? I think a numpad for numerical input is the best way to go. I really don't get why you want it any other way.
I dont know about the stock key board but swiftkey keyboard can also put the numbers in a 3x3 grid...although partially . I am attaching a screen shot
Hope this helped

Thank you for your reply. I forgot about SwiftKey. Last time I've tried it, something bothered me, but I cannot remember what it was. Maybe I give it another try.
But still I am curious about the stock keyboard. Because I refuse to believe they did not implement this feature, since I think it is quite essential. And when it comes to choosing a keyboard, it's a deal breaker for me.
Hello Guys,
So I ordered now LG G2 32GB (950USD in Israel, I know its expensive but well... thats what it is and I wanted a device with large screen, powerfull multi tasking and something that I wont have to replace in 1 year but at least in 2 years, super power little computer for all my internet, emails, mult tasking, office things...), I could choose Z Ultra, S4, Optimus G Pro but took G2 as most people online voted for this one and I heard them plus I liked the way this device looks from all photos I watched and I liked it's longer life per each charge versus others (from reviews i was reading).
Now something I feel bothered with, I see on youtube that this soft menu buttons stays even in games, pretty much anywhere...
Removing the on-screen menu buttons possibly also not the brightest idea, how I will navigate then?
So here is a question. Any tweak would allow me to use Android in same way I use Iphone, by turn the "power" button that short click works as "home button" and remove the soft on screen menu?
I will get the delivery by Sunday and hopefully find a solution ready to use by then
UPDATE: I found this http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/23/lmt-launcher-brings-pie-goodness-without-the-custom-rom/
can i totally hide the soft buttons from screen so they NEVER appear and use only the LMT pie buttons?
Seems as this is the answer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj5QJcTWf5o
As for rooting I want to use this:

So following my study, how to make the LG G2 perfect in terms of screen space utilization and avoid loosing so much space due to the soft buttons (your own risk):
1) Root your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45692679#post45692679
2) Hide soft keys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys&hl=en
3) Use the auto hide function of the soft keys and enjoy from the footer menu when you need it without it always be there OR dont use the footer menu at all and enjoy from Pie Menu style using LMT launcher: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/23/lmt-launcher-brings-pie-goodness-without-the-custom-rom
Thoughts ?
Good morning,
First of, I did use GOOGLE and the search button on here but couldn't get my answer. So, here I am.
Ok, I like both Samsung and Google keyboards, but on Samsung keyboard, I installed my national language so I can talk to my dad and it is perfectly working for me. However, when I type English, I prefer Google keyboard because it does not predict with the mix of my language like the Samsung and screw up my typing.
On the Google keyboard, I can simply hold the space bar and the keyboard switching window pops up and let me choose other keyboard.
My question is, can I setup the Samsung keyboard to have the same effect so I can switch back and forth between the keyboards without going through the setup menus ?
Thanks!
