Hi everyone. I am new to the site and the forum. I can't express how grateful I am to all the contributors... I have been doing a fair amount of reading. Still haven't been able to find answers to some questions.
I have an S4 with OF1 ROM. I have been able to root it using KingRoot. I have recently moved to the UK.
My questions are:
1. My phone never picks up a 4G signal, even in areas where my wife's phone does. How can I get around this problem?
2. How do I get rid of the annoying "SIM is not from Verizon" message?
Apologies if these have already been answered.
If you rooted then you can flash Stang5litre's ROM to delete all the Verizon bloat with flashfire (my reccomendation is the Ultranote 5 edition)

Hey there, you have to keep in mind that VZW S4 only supports LTE band 4 so, make sure your carrier has LTE on that band

I just recently acquired from a trade an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 and I am using it for T-Mobile. Is it possible for this phone to receive any higher speed of data besides EDGE? I currently am on the 4G data plan and for some reason the data connection on this phone is slower compared to my previous phone. Thanks!
Dear baby Jesus,
Please grant these people with the ability to search and understand that Google exists.

No....the i777 is only a quad-band phone, it doesn't have the t-mo 4g capabilities. So far the Note is the only Sammy phone I know of that can be flashed to work on the t-mo 4g. The next batch of phones, like the One X and SGS3 are pentaband and should work fine....but for what you've got you're stuck on EDGE.

Nope. The only bands that the phone has compatibility for are the ones that TMo use for Edge. The i777 does not have the hardware to support the 3G bands for TMo.
This has been discussed several times and a search would yield that. As such, Im going to close this thread as the answer has been given and there is no need for any further discussion about this. It the OP needs more answers, he can either post in an existing thread of the same topic or PM me directly... Im also closing this to prevent the trolls from getting their flame on.
Thread closed.
If you get a T-Mobile version of Samsung Galaxy Note (original), and sim unlock it, can you use it on AT&T network? How would be data speed? Edge only?
Re: [Q] Is it possible to use T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&T, Voice and Data?
Its only possible for those who take the time to search and educate themselves.
You will probably not like my statement, but I mean it in the most professional manner.
Just a basic Google search of using tmobile note on att network gives lots of help.

Really? I just did "a basic Google search of using tmobile note on att network" and guess what? Instead of getting "lots of help" I got NOTHING of that sort. Lots of reviews and such, oh yeah, there's something about using att note on tmoble network, just the opoosite of what I want to do.
Mods, please close the thread.
Re: [Q] Is it possible to use T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&T, Voice and Data?
Yes, you can sim unlock and use an ATT sim....however, you will only get Edge.

Here, let me break it down for you.
All those pages you mentioned (35 pages) about using att note on tmobile all say the same thing:
Unlock phone.
Flash t-mobile radio
Input APN
You want the same thing, but opposite networks:
Unlock phone
Flash at&t radio
Input APN
My apologies. Since you were a member of a development forum I thought you could piece things together. Maybe in the future, let people know you're not very knowledgeable. Everyone here gives very explicit help for newbies.
Why not head over to the t-mobile note forum. I looked over there and probably 1 out of 5 posts in the Q and A was your Q.
Id trade you my att galaxy note for your tmobile one.
I hate having to have a data plan, with the tmobile version I could stick to talk and text. Also this way you wouldnt have the hassle of getting data working.
let me know,I can send pics and stuff.I would also be willing to send first since im kinda new here and cang be vouched for yet.

I wish there was an exchange so members could trade for the best phone. Good idea.
I read a few threads and am confused, so I thought I would just ask. I have a few 4G LTE devices for Verizon and am ready to switch to AT&T. Let's just say that Verizon and I had an argument and it is time to switch. Plus I would be saving over $50 to switch to AT&T with a month to month with a BYOP plan.
I visited the AT&T store today and had them insert a SIM into my S4. I get the error "This SIM card is from an unknown source" in the banner. I get a signal strength and a H for where the data symbol 4GLTE is. Then it drops the signal and refuses to have a data connection. At this time the APN settings were NOT adjusted. This was a straight out of the box S4 rooted on NC5 with Android version 4.4.2. After messing with the S4 for awhile he moved to the S3 and entered the proper APN settings. It pulled data, but only at EDGE speeds or 1X. Also, my last device, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, has no way of editing the APN settings. It is NOT rooted and is still on stock firmware.
My questions are these:
1. Can this be done?
2. What do I need to do to the phone(s)/tablet to make it work?
3. Will I be able to get 4G speeds?
I do not want to purchase phones with AT&T today because I just don't have the money. I already have these devices, I just want to swap them over. I am comfortable with flashing using ODIN and even so far as using safe-strap. I have flashed some custom roms, but my phone is a daily grind phone and I really want something that works 90% of the time.
Thanks in advance for any help!

None of the codes work either:

It was an answer to this same question asked by you. This thread is redundant.

That thread just asks if the SIM card would work and if they would need to flash a GSM ROM to their S4. That thread does not answer the questions I asked. I just gave my insight after a visit with the AT&T store. Store techs tend to not know as much as the XDA community. That is why I asked here. So no, it is not a redundant thread. I appreciate your answer, but it isn't what I am looking for. Not a straight up yes or no, this or that.
As for the GSM locks I discussed, it was from an experience I had with a Motorola Droid 2 and using it on a local GSM provider in the USA. So yes, that was pre LTE.

My point, which you apparently missed, is that there is no reason for starting up yet another thread to ask questions that have already been answered. That''s why I said that this is redundant.
OK, let me answer your questions.
1. Can this be done?
Yes, you can install an AT&T SIM, set up the APN, and it will work. What bands you get and what bandwidth you get depends on what bands AT&T are using in your area. You won't likely be able to get LTE speed; most likely just Edge. You can't fix that, as it's a limitation of the phone's radio hardware. Again, some people have made claims that you can flash the AT&T GS4 modem on a Verizon phone and change that, but that's pretty risky as it will likely brick your phone.
2. What do I need to do to the phone(s)/tablet to make it work?
It works, for some level of "work". If you're stock, some people have reported that the firmware requires CDMA for some functions, like SMS. I haven't verified that. I was able to send SMS with my phone and a UK SIM which uses the AT&T network.
3. Will I be able to get 4G speeds?
Not likely. For example, see here http://phandroid.com/2012/12/10/nexus-4-att-lte/ - the common band, LTE Band 4, has limited AT&T coverage.
I haven't gone over the specs of the two phones lately to match them up, so that may be worth looking at again.

Thank you for your answer. I decided to trade the phones into AT&T and get a credit towards a Samsung S4 and a Asus Padphone X. After I read a few more posts over the internet and a few more hours figuring out how LTE works I came across the answer. I did miss what you meant and I apologize. Again, thank you for your answer.
After 10 years with Verizon, I had enough (long story)... Switched over to T-Mobile recently with my Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone, however I have a few questions.
When I was on VZW I was able to root with towlroot, installed xPosed, and removed the Verizon bloatware. I then inserted the SIM from T-Mobile and made adjustments to the APN. It all seems to be working fine. I understand I will not get the full bandwidth, and I am OK because it was not worth $600 to purchase a new phone (Actually 3 new phones).
My questions are:
1) Should/Can I install SafeStrap and use one of the T-Mobile ROM, Kernals, etc... to be a "true" T-Mobile mobile phone?
2) Are there any T-Mobile specific APK's I should have?
3) I assume I can not get the wireless calling which T-Mobile uses?
4) Any other tips and trick from people that did the same thing?
So far happy with T-Mobile. Thanks in advance for the help.
..
Thank questions answered. I will search around.
Hello I recieved this phone from a friend which had told me the phone was carrier unlocked.
I am currently a AT&T customer.
I went to the AT&T Store locally and had the woman get me a new SIM card and activate it.
My internet did not work so I told the woman I can figure it out and left the store.
I then edited my APN settings to "phone" and all the proper settings that are posted for the Galaxy S6 Edge AT&T
I now have horrible service. Just like T-Mobile does in my entire area that is why no one bothers to use it unless you live in town even then it wont work inside your own house.
I feel like all the information is somewhere in this forum but I have spent quite a bit of time searching around to only find small pieces of answers.
Questions:
What Bands does the tmobile version run on?
Is this phone fully compatible with AT&T LTE? If not what speeds am I limited to?
Should I be running a different bootloader?
I'm currently on 6.0.1 Android stock tmobile. Can I flash to a debloated firmware without tripping knox? Which ones? Are there features I may loose?
Should I downgrade to stock 5.11 tmobile first then root then flash to debloat?
What is the safest and best way to root the phone?
Should I care about Knox if I have no warranty and dont plan on sending it in ever because of this?
Thank you in advance everyone I appreciate the help.
Please help

I believe I need to flash a EFS and security which I did not back mine up of course.
