No Marshmallow Update KIW - L21C900B120 - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

Hello,
can someone here tell what kind of Honor 5X I have .
My Honor 5X has the build number KIW - L21C900B120 .
What does the number?
I ask this because I no update will be offered to marshmallow.
Many thanks for your help.

Where do you live, and where have you bought it ?
KIW-L21 is Europe version
C900 is the code number of the cust (custom) partition
B120 is the build number of the ROM. KIW-L21 C432 is on B130 out of the box.
You can maybe flash it to make it a C432, then you can update easily to b330, but you have to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash TWRP.
edit: found it: https://mobilenet.cz/katalog/honor-5x/specifikace
It seems to be the Czech version.
Two choices:
- Wait for MM update
- Flash it with a C432 ROM/TWRP backup.

@clsA
But his phone will be a L24, isn't it ?
Maybe he should try this one (then flashing CM13 or the stock L21)) instead ?

Thanks first of all for your quick reply .
I 'm from Germany and I won it in a raffle .

I'm from Austria and I got the update to B330 (Marshmallow 6.0.1) via the "early adopter"-option in the HiCare-App. I don't know if it is possible to update from B120 directly to B330 because there was at least B130 in between for the KIW-L21.

MM update on Honor 5X
Hello,
I´ve got the same problem with my 5X. I won the phone and have the firmware version L21C900B120. Has anyone already updated this version successfully to Android 6?
I talked to the Honor support, but they´re trying to convince me, that this is a special version which won´t get any updates!? Basically it should be the same Hardware as the C432 - right?
Thanks,
Florian

Normally yes, but it has a special software.
But you can debrand it and flash a fw with updates in the future

Honor 5X - KIW-L23 Marshmallow and bugfix update

Im having Honor 5X KIW-L23 model. I didn get EMUI 4 update or any bug fix update.\
The firmware for KIW-L23 has also not released.
Is there anyway to overcome this by using another OS? Will other OS suits to L23 ?

There's a way, but it's too risky, I don't recommend it.
I also have this model and I am seeking the stock firmware for it. I installed a custom ROM and forgot to take a backup (stupid). Now I can't go back to stock because I can't find any stock firmware online. What options do I have to get back to stock? (I miss my fingerprint reader)
Is there a KII-L23_Android 6.0.1 update?
I need a stock ROM for this model too.

I'll ask someone to see if there's a roll back for ME version

Strange update please help

I need some help, I have a Mate 10 from China the Al00 version 6gb/128gb version. It came rebranded with AL29 115 (C636) flashed over it. Everything is working fine. When I check Firmware Finder app it shows there are updates available for C636 but these are not approved for installation. However when I check the (C185) update version of the L29 it is approved for my device. So I updated to this version which is L29 8.0.0.119(C185) everything worked fine and when my phone rebooted it was still on L29 8.0.0.115(C636) but the security patch was updated to the latest November one from October. I don't understand what has happened here? WHY HASN'T the build version changed? Why isn't any update version of the C636 not approved for my phone? I would appreciate any help thank you in advance
Interesting I thought about doing this myself, so you probably have the firmware files of .119 but still device details .115. Can you take a screen shot of your syatem/About Phone?
You would need to rebrand your phone I would have thought, currently only funky Huawei can do this from what I've read.
I'm in the same boat, all the C636 firmwares are not authorised currently for my device also. Update.app method doesn't work with out associated hw files and I'm not willing to fastboot the partitions to the device tho should work.

I have checked and I am positive that my phone is rebranded to C636, what I find strange is that others in this forum bought the same phone from the same vendor and it was rebranded by the vendor too. They are also in the UK and they have received an OTA to 119 from 115, I do not understand why this is the case.

Yeah I've the same device from Wandamobile.
I just received the .119 OTA update as of last night. You'll get it very shortly.
Seems to be in line with firmware finder when you check firmware access, as soon as my access was approved on the app I got the OTA.

Thank you very much my friend I appreciate that ?
i have the same problem.. my mate 10 rebrand by itself after i installed a full OTA via firmware finder. my mate 10 was 119(C636) then after i downloaded and installed a firmware 128(636) via firmware finder. it didnt change at all. my mate 10 was still on firmware 119 but the worst it became 119(185) when i try to download a firmware 128(C185) i cannot install it because it was not approved.. but when i try to download a 128(636) all is good but the problem is im still at 119(C185) after the installation..

Regional Code C55 Italia TIM for Funky Huawey

Hi, I've to rollback my mate 10 pro to branded TIM firmware with Funky Huawei.
When it ask for region code I don't know what to enter. The firmware should be C55 Tim Italia, but I've tried typing tim/it but without success.
What code I've to write as region?
Thanks!

Just C55 if that's the cust you have selected.
Hi, Funky Huawey wrote the region to use for C55 Tim Italia:
"Yes, the C55 is branded:
BLA-L09 for device
ti/it for branding."
This evening I'll try and I'll report you... :fingers-crossed:

Yes, the region code for TIM is C55, but first tell us which firmware version are you on?
If you are on a recent firmware that blocked the backdoor that FH was using, then most likely you are stuck with your current cust (c432 or whatever you rebranded to from C55).

Yes you're right, I got error on rebranding (losing 5 credits for nothing...) and I've tried also with erecovery method without success...maybe shoud I downgrade to a previous firmware allowing backdoor?
Anyway I've written to FW to get support...:fingers-crossed:

I've hw/eu on .150 (was .148 after rebranding).
Ok, I'ts impossible to use FW on firmware > .142, for the backdoor for the magic have been patched since .145 forward.
I've tried any knowleged for downgrade: FW, eRecovery, Project Menu (update.app in dload on external disk), but nope
So, I'll keep my BLA-L09 as BLA-L29, and it's good because I've also an Iliad sim with a lot of gigas per month
The phone It's also well working (using since Dec' 12, more than 6 months...), hoping for doesn't need support in future... :fingers-crossed:

Update to EMUI 9 Using Firmware Finder

Hi, I am using Huawei p20 lite with the build number ANE-LX2C636 and I have been stuck with EMUI 8 for years now and I want to update it to 9 using Firmware Finder, the question is which update should I choose from the list (I know how to check if the update is compatible with my device) since there is a lot and my Android version is very old, should I just install every compatible update starting from the bottom or what?
Thank you guys for your help.

Hi, have you tried upgrade via HiSuite (chinese version) , via HiCare or using eRecovery & Wi-Fi?

Over the course of one month I've tried everything you said two times each, I even contacted Huawei local costumer service and they replied and I quote: "Judging by your IMEI number it doesn't appear that you have a Huawei device at the first place, that is why you don't get updates", so yeah, the phone that I've purchased from an official vendor with a relatively higher price than the free market isn't even registered.
Note: yesterday I tried to download a FullOTA ANE-LX2 EMUI 9.0. update via Firmware Finder and the download unfortunately failed.

FF won't help you, you can try get bootloader unlock code for 4euros on hcu-client.com , then rebrand your phone to global version. Or, buy Service ROM on easy-firmware for 17euros and upgrade your phone to EMUI 9.1 using dload method (yes, crazy ). Sorry, I can't help you anymore
P.S.: try a google search to find the method "patched HiSuite" or "proxy HiSuite", it may help you. Good luck!
