Hi,
I am planning to buy Vivo smartphone. Someone told me that its Funtouch OS has interface and funtionality same as iOS. Is it true? Should I buy Vivo or not?
Please help.

Hi Ketan,
I am using Vivo V3MAX and here is my honest review.
From finger print scanner to PDAF camera, the phone has tons of features. The most amazing feature to me is fast battery charging. If you are a gamer then its the best phone to have as it offers seamless gaming expereince. It hifi music playing capability is a bonus for a music addict. My only concern is its metallic body which others might enjoy. I am not a metallic body fan. Other than this there is nothing I dont like about this phone. Its an amazing phone to have.

i second the comment of @badalji the phone has a lot to offer from camera to battery . And about your question its not like iphone, actually FUNTOUCH OS is similar in a few things like for example it doesn`t offer an app drawer you have to put al aps on your homescreen pages and/or folders just google it for clarity (you can make any no. of pages) , no lags whatsoever i have tried playing asphalt to hitman sniper and all of the games worked smoothly also as i am amid musician i love to play my tunes and listen to my favt tunes .. and the sound system is just amusing with the phone , i.e because of the extra audio chip that VIVO has installed in the device , i`ll just say that visit your nearest vivo dealer and just taste the features and see for yourself then make a decision.
GOOD LUCK
Yes funtouch is copy of ios and also you should not buy a vivo phone because they don't worth our money.
Are custom Android OSes like FunTouch OS and OxygenOS just as good as stock Android for Android Development?

I am looking to change my iphone 4S and thinking of picking some Android mid range device. After sometime of Googling I found Huawei Honor 6 pretty impressive on papers. So I decided to go for it but then I had a chance to check this device as my friend already had one The device is pretty good with rich display and good look however sound is pretty low for me. I am kinda music buff and it really irritates me.
I searched internet and found that Viper 4 Android might do the magic .
Anybody advise if its a problem with the device or Android OS designed for Huawei ?
Anybody using Viper4Android in Honor6 ? If so how is the performance
Thanks in adavance buddies :good:
Please advice me what to buy. I want an android-without-google phone. With e.g. cyanogenmod, or any other. I am good with computers, and coding, but myself I have no clue yet about Android development.
The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) seems better supported in this forum - so perhaps a fully functional ROM will appear earlier? True?
But it has only 1.5 GB RAM. All specs here.
The Wiko ufeel is cheaper and looks like the more powerful hardware (e.g. 3 GB RAM), all specs here, and their marketing stuff.
But xda-developers.com does not even have a subforum for Wiko yet? Does that perhaps mean, it is unlikely there will be a ROM soon?
But both have non-removable batteries, which sounds really idiotic.
Which other phone would you suggest in that price range, with similar specs? For which there is already (or soon will be) a fully functional alternative ROM?
I am asking because I own a Sony xperia E1 (yes, I know, stupid me), and even after 21 months there is no ROM ready. This time, I want to be cleverer, and first check the forums, before I buy the hardware.
What do you suggest? Any hint much appreciated!
Thanks a lot for your time!
P.S.:
Another (much pricier, probably too much for me?) suggestion was the Sony Z5 compact, but after my E1 experience I am not a big Sony fan anymore... (?)
But yes, all 3 phones are "small" - I really don't want a semi-tablet sized telephone.
Hi,
Out of the three phones I would advice the Sony Z5 compact... it's an amazing and solid device .... By far the best out of the three. If you are reluctant because of the experience you had with the E1, relax ... it's totally different. On the very plus side, the development is quite alive for all Sony device and you will probably extend it's longer then the other ones.
If you find out that you can't get, because it cost double the price of the 2 others. I would recommend the Wiko ufeel.
One friend of mine have it and I played a bit with it. It's a solid device. Beautiful (yes it depends), smooth, fast. The screen is not that great (not to say poor). Main camera do a descent job, not outstanding. Battery life is average by my standards (better than my LG G3, worst then the OP2)
... But you will probably never have a custom ROM for it here on XDA. To get it rooted we spend more then 2 weeks ... finally got it rooted with some Russian forums (used G-translate to read).
I would never recommend a Samsung device ... never ever. BULL****.
Depending on you taste and budget, have a look to the OPPO A37 and Huawei P9 lite. I dont know which country you are in, but they should be available all over the world.
My rating:
1. Sony Z5 compact
2. Huawei P9 lite
3. OPPO A37
4. Wiko ufeel
5. A3 (2016)

Can you please be more specific? Do you own this device?
I am using this phone with the global dev rom, Xposed and more for 4 months now and am genuinely happy. Coming from an Xperia Z3 at 3-fold the price tag with constant overheating problems the RN4 simply works smoothly and constantly.
BTW, I would also appreciate a few more choices for alternative roms, but MIUI 8.2 is doing great for me.

Yes I own it and regret buying it, nothing wrong with the device itself, build quality and features are good, the only bad thing about it is the MTK chipset and it is the most important thing in a phone, it overheats and lags when gaming, and the development is already dead for this device thanks to them not sharing their sources. Will never see Nougat on this device for sure.

Okay, but isn't this the standard rant about MTK? You could have known before you decided to buy this device. Your overheating problems could be solved, but I guess you just want to complain for complaints sake.
I will also like a flyme rom for Nikel. Flyme OS looks nice.

Someone make it happen please. What about the developers who made aosp rom possible for us?
Flyme wake up once and collaborate with Google once and update. This I am going to tell you already knew for a long time and take Flyme 7 with Nougat ("new Meizu 15"). As of this same month of April all the mobiles that want to have Google applications officially must use Android 8.0 Oreo or a higher version.
This decision has already said that Google would implement it but we have not seen it yet, it will prevent the use of its apps on non-certified devices, something that many Chinese brands do. You have to have a ROM and register our Chinese phones or in the future, we will not be able to use Google Play applications.
Google :good:
Meizu why don't you use Android Pure or Android One on all your phones ?. I like your phones, but it kills me that they aren't updated and that you have blocked the bootloader, give us freedom!
meizu is going to have a tragic end, in the past they make good phones.,..
mx4, mx4 pro, pro 5 and even the newest pro 6 plus are very good
but the rest of the models are just crap
crap camera, crap flyme, crap bugs, crap slow updates, crap android 6.1 in 2018
lol
dont buy meizu again, they dont care

From the software point of view:
I'm always going with the stock experience, which you can find in the Oneplus 6 (I mean, almost stock).
I don't like the extra apps which come in the Samsung experience.
From the hardware point of view:
Both are great, of course, but the Galaxy S9 is definitely better when it comes to specs. It has the better chipset, better camera, and overall it is just a better device. It has also some nice to have features like water resistance and wireless charging
I would personally go with the Oneplus 6. The smoother experience in the stock version is way more important to me.
