I'm having issues attempting to unlock the bootloader on my g5. I can boot into fastboot mode from the os. Once I'm in fastboot however the driver won't install in windows to allow me access to run the fastboot oem unlock command.
I've installed the correct LG G5 Driver set (LG United Mobile Driver) as far as I can tell. I've tried manually selecting the driver in windows. Everything works perfectly in debug mode in the os but once I've used the adb reboot bootloader command and it reboots, it goes off the radar and I can't do anything else.
I'm using the LG G5 T-Mobile edition H830 v10d.
Try running adb kill-server after doing adb reboot bootloader. Then do you get anything when you run fastboot devices?
Keep in mind, you'll need to have "Enable OEM Unlock" flipped in USB Debugging.
Also, if you're using the h830, you should post this in the tmobile specific forums.
Well got same problem here. Once in bootloader, i have the welcome to Fastboot Mode phone screen but i can't do anything using command prompt. Fastboot devices returns nothing attached.
Even pushing 10s power button does nothing. Have to pull out battery.
Don't understand.
Any help ?
Thanks.

For anyone having the issue, I solved it as follows (on Windows 7):
You've used adb to reboot into fastboot, but fastboot isn't responding. "fastboot devices" in adb shows no devices.
1. Go to device manager
2. Look for a device called Other Device, or something similar. Expand that, you should see a device called Android with yellow exclamation a mark.
3. Right click the device, select Update Driver Software.
4. Select Browse my computer for driver sofware
5. Select Let me pick from a list....
6. In the column on the right, find something a driver that says Fastboot driver or something similar (I can't see it now that I've installed it).
7. Install that, go back to your command line interface, type fastboot devices to confirm you now have access.
I have the same problem with h850

When I go to fastboot mode, I can't use it. I type fastboot devices but I get blank screen.q I install drivers and I can use adb from WinXP and Linux.
What to do?
Thank's in advince
Use the latest fastboot binary from the android sdk (linux). On windows you might need some driver hack that is floating around here somewhere.
€: For windows: If adb is working you should also be fine eith a recent fastboot binary.
I installed drivers and downloaded lastest sdk(you have it in first post).

I was messing about with the same thing. When you type fastboot devices it can give strange answers. Mine came up with: ? fastboot. When i typed fastboot devices. So i kept looking and uninstalling and installing and always the same answer. So i tryed to send some commands to the folio and Viola! it was connected. But if it dont answer you just have to follow this guide on setting up ADB and Fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915894 Good luck
If I understood,I must install drivers when I'm in fastboot mode?

It is the same driver/udev rule that adb uses, so if adb works, fastboot should also.
Hello everyone, I'm using Redmi Note 3 and I have tried rooting it several times.
I have unlocked the bootloader. I have also installed the adb drivers.
When I connect phone in fastboot mode and write 'fastboot devices' in cmd it doesn't return anything. But when I connect when its on, adb devices returns the device code.
Please help.
Same, happens to mine too. Used to work with a previous install of windows, but now, nope.
Had this issue too.
Try going to Device Manager and check to see if Kedacom USB Device shows up. Under which, Android Bootloader Interface should be present. Install minimalist ADB and fastboot and right click Android Bootloader Interface. Click Update Driver Software, browse computer, and then click the option to list driver files already present on your drive. It should pull up a fastboot driver that's an older version than the one you currently have. Install that and fastboot will work again.
Doesn't work
Can you please link the files for download when we're updating the driver software.
I had installed Kali Nethunter 3 on my Nexus 9 with TWRP, then it started to bug out, so I 'factory reset' it to stock Marshmallow, but when I look in the 'About Tablet' it is still showing [email protected] #2 in the kernal version. I would like to flash stock Nougat, but I cant get my ADB to authorize. I cant get the RSA key authorization dialogue to come up on my device. I do have USB debugging enabled.
If I plug it in while the adb server is started, it does generate adbkey files inside the .Android folder on the Windows machine. I was thinking that I could put these adbkey files into whatever folder they are supposed to be in, on the nexus 9 (data/something...? my data folder looks empty).
Alternatively, could I just put the nougat image onto my nexus 9 and flash it back to stock using TWRP? Ideally making my kali root kernal go away forever? I am not concerned about losing any data.
Not really sure what I am doing here, I just want stock unrooted Nougat and I want my ADB to work again (so I can use it to debug my Android Studio apps)! Thanks.
Can you get a fastboot connection?

and when i type 'fastboot start-server' it says: "< waiting for any device >".
ADB at least can see the device - just says its unauthorized.
I'm not familiar with either of the commands you mentioned as I've never used them. If 'fastboot devices' doesn't return your device, try updating all PC device drivers related to android while connected to fastboot. You don't need adb to install google images, but you need your PC to recognize device (as you know).
EDIT: Is your tab rooted? If so, you can use FlashFire to run the installation without a computer.
If no joy so far, disconnect tab, remove all drivers and let PC redo them when you reconnect. You should get the authorization prompt again.

so actually it was unrooted during my last factory reset. i finally figured out how to use fastboot to update to nougat, and all the remnants of kali in the kernal is gone. my ADB is working fine now, and i can test on my nex9 from android studio. i used this guide: http://wccftech.com/flash-nbd91k-android-7/
life is good. thanks guys.
My PC doesn't detect my phone when I use Fastboot Devices when my phone is on Fastboot mode. I get a blank space in return. Can anyone help me with this? ADB works fine, it's only Fastboot. Is there a Fastboot driver that I might be missing?
Thank you.
Edit: I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my phone.
Me too !
Drivers are here: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
These are the ones I use for ADB/Fastboot.
May I ask if anybody solved this already?
Having the same issue, tried various drivers, but fastboot won't find my phone
Help is highly apperciated!
Clock
If you using windows 10 have you disable the drivers signature verification.. And search on here (XDA) for Min ADB & Fastboot tools, easier than using SDK tools unless you modding apks ect..
Okay, I got this working.
When in fastboot mode, you have to go to the device manager, update driver, and manually choose the google fastboot driver. Then the ! is gone and it works.

I am on an older macbook pro running High Sierra. the phone I'm using is a Blu G5 running android 9. I have the developer options unlocked and oem unlocked and usb debugging checked. When i open my terminal i type cd and drag and drop the platform tools folder into the terminal window changing the directory to the folder containing the adb and fastboot files. I can use adb commands such as adb devices and get the serial number and it says devices. So far so good. Then i reboot the phone into the bootloader manually or using command adb reboot bootloader and the phone goes into fastboot mode. I know because it says it on top of the screen in white letters. Then i run into the problem fastboot commands don't work. If I type in fastboot devices nothing but a new command line shows up. When i type in any other command like fastboot device or fastboot oem unlock it says "waiting for any devices." I wait and wait but nothing happens. I have looked on the internet for a solution but all i find is that the driver may not deinstalled properly. I have tried manually installing fastboot driver and used sdk manager to install the fastboot driver and I have tried it using the terminal in android studio but no matter what when i try useing fastboot commands i get the "waiting for any device" message. Does any have a solution or could anyone recommend and forum for android development on MacOSX?
@DimDreams
Seems the Fastboot driver is invalid.

I have literally tried like 10 different sdk tool downloads just platform tool download basically every thing i can find. By chance would you or anyone out there have a working driver for MacOSX 10.13.6? or link a guide that can help me figure this out. I have made a little progress with a forum on xda about fastboot on macs but i still just keep getting the waiting for any device message.
@DimDreams
May also be that the Fastboot Android mode is not available on the phone in question.
I've had similar issues before and noticed that fastboot mode works better via USB 2.0 than USB 3.0. Maybe check which port you're using and switch. ADB seems to work well either way, however. Hope that helped.
I just had this problem as well and I found this, what worked for me is first boot your phone into bootloader mode with
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
. While in the bootloader fastboot worked for me. Hope this helps someone!
