Strange issue - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, first thing, I dropped my Droid Turbo in the water....I dried it succesfully and got it to come back on.
Almost everything works. Except
I cannot get the lock screen to come up after locking it. Basically, if I lock the phone, with the power button or what ever I decide to do, I can't get the unlock screen to come up. I've tried shaking the phone to get the camera to open, nothing, I have tried installing a shake to unlock app, nothing, I have tried installing a wave to unlock, nothing, I've tried using Moto apps like prox sensor and such to unlock...nothing...If I hold the power button down and restart it, I can do whatever I like, for as long as I like, but if it ever goes to sleep, it won't come back on. I can hit the volume button while its locked and I hear the volume beep at me. So I know it's doing something...it's like the phone doesn't recognize that I'm in sleep mode so it can bring it out of sleep. I've factory reset a million times, and I've cleaned and reseated all ribbon cables. Even moto voice will not let me train my voice....it's weird..I can use the google launcher to recognize and train my voice, but when I use moto (yes I have updated it) to try and train an unlock command, it's like the mic doesn't work. It's almost like the water damaged the code somehow...
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance.

Touch Pro abruptly stopped working; won't boot.

So here's a peculiar incident:
I have a CDMA TP with a stock ROM and a few basic apps I gathered from these forums and others. I've had it for less than a week.
Tonite, I went to check my text messages. Suddenly, the screen went black and the phone stopped responding. After pressing the power button and fiddling with the keys, I pulled out the stylus and did a soft reset. No response. Confused by this, I tried again, but still nothing. I removed the battery, and turned the phone back on. It froze at the "Touch Pro" screen with the rom/radio/etc info at the bottom. After repeating this a few times I decided to do a hard reset. So, I turn the device on and perform the hard reset. By this point the TP is only turning on SOME TIMES, and I have to take the battery out and put it back in often just to get it to start successfully. So, I finally get the device to boot up and it starts to configure WinMo. Suddenly, while configuring, it freezes. Now I try to turn it back on, and nothing happens.
Basically the device is stuck like this, shifting between not turning on at all and turning on but freezing at the "Touch Pro" screen.
So, my question is, what the heck is going on here? Has anyone else had this problem, or does this sound familiar to anyone? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
p.s. Yes, the battery is fully charged.

Same problem here phone started b not coming out of lock mode. Backlight is on but no display on screen (if i tilt the screen left and right i can see light coming from behind) did about 6 hard resets and still same problem. also power button works whenever it wants to. this phone sucks @ss, i want my mogul back. on a second note my replacement will be here on wednesday.
Touch Pro stock rom purchased back in nov when it came out
yeah, i've had the same problem, i found if i hit my phone on the back or side and then batter pull and hit the soft reset while off, not the power button to turn it back on, it comes back on with color on the screen not just blank black screen with backlight, this works mostly every time, but when it doesn't, i just hold the power button down and do battery pull and hit the power button and it works, its like its got a combo of things you have to do before it works.. weird
Boot Up
I have also had similar problems. I for some reason sometimes have to remove my SD card and boot up without it for some reason. Not all the time, but every once in a blue moon. Not too sure how that affects anything, but you may try that too.
well i started a thread here ***help*** because i kinda have the same problem.
i downloaded some cabs, nothing fancy but i had some problems with a theme i downloaded. when i went to deleted i couldnt..... to make a story short, i took it to the sprint store where they tried to do a master reset/ hard reset and it wont take it. it wont do a thing... they say some important files are missing...
the phone works but not the way it should... the time on the home screen wont show up. and some other small things...

Reboot Brick HTC process
****DOn't take battery out after hard boot***
1.just watch videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk56olMkCtU and do what they do but dont take battery out. LEAVE phone STUCK on BOOT screen. Nothign else will move or work but you want phone just like that.
2. connect usb cable to active sync. (this may not link up but leave usb connected anyhow) Do not delete phone profile.
3.use rom like Download MightyROM6_Herman.exe avail at: http://www.lilrico.com/Mighty/mightyromblog/?p=454
4 although active sync is still attatched but may not be connecting. It will connect thru usb anyway when you run the rom software. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV2I2WAFkg4&NR=1
This worked and kept phone from cutting on and off. and restored ROM. don't know about original htc boot. but your phone will work under this rom for now and you can go from there.
hey thanks plain ole dumb, it works now.
man I thought it was over.
thanks again

[Q] End key stopped working after hard reset

So by accident I launched a CHT file from my SD Card which essentially crashed sense. No biggie, did a hard reset and thought I would be okay.
Wrong.
When I hold down the end key (to either load johcos' end key or even if i uninstall it) my screen is dead. The hard keys work, but not the screen.
Anyone have a suggestion? I have been using tmo-us stock rom without problems until yesterday when this started. I realize I could flash a new rom and maybe it is time...but tis very annoying this is happening after a hard reset.
Thanks.
still not working after flashing energy rom
argh.
flashed energy.
same problem.
now have to work...but any suggestions? my long hard key is dead and freezes my phone. hard reset/ new rom did nothing.
thanks.
same with android
so now anytime my phone goes to lock screen the screen stops functioning though the hardkeys work just fine.
thought i would try android and be savvy...but wrong.
same problem.
any ideas? i am ready to take a hammer to this damn thing...
This recently happened to my GF's phone, She said she was just playing a game one day, it froze so she popped the battery out and rebooted. Now every time she uses the End/Power ( red ) hard button to shutoff or wake up the device, the screen stays locked and won't respond.
I have tried soft reset, hard reset, different lock screens and what not. The only solution I found, besides sending it in, is to let the screen shut off by itself, and then wake it up with the Call/Send ( green ) hard button.
You can also try using the End/Power hard button to lock it, but then as long as you wake it with the Call/Send hard button it should be fine.
It has worked every time now. Try it and see if it helps! It's a little annoying but it saves money and insurance!
Going to repost this in all those previous listed threads to see if it helps anyone else.
Good Luck!

Is the sticky lockscreen location based?

I didn´t really document it yet, but I have a strong feeling that the "sticky lockscreen" issue never appears when I am at home.
Today I was walking home from work and couldn´t unlock my phone, I let the screen go on and off for about 10 times, pressed every button multiple times, nothing helped, so I put it back in my pocket to reset it when i get home. At home it unlocked without a hitch. Tried it about 10 times again, not sticky at all.
And it is not a problem with the touchscreen, even if the locksreen doesn´t respond at all, like the device was completely frozen, you can still long press the power button and the menu that pops up reacts perfectly fine. Every time. I never had to take the battery out to reset when I couldn´t unlock it.
I used to think that it would have something to do with me forgetting to switch of WiFi, but that wasn´t the case.
Right now I am thinking that maybe it has something to do with location based services. But I turned off the cell tower based location service (GPS is always off) today and I still had the sticky lock, but only once so far and it worked on the second unlock attempt without shutting the screen on and off.
Right now I am on Froyo V1 and didn´t edit the build.prop yet. Which helped in 2.1 but didn´t make the problem completely dissappear.
I know there is a thread about this topic, but it is more about alternative lockscreens, this thread should be about finding out the cause of the problem.
I think it´s kind of funny but what helps on my streak when I can´t unlock is to turn off the dispay, shake the phone for a second, turning on the screen and it unlocks...when I´m not shaking it it sometimes wasn´t unlocking but it always unlocks after shaking it with screen turned off!
Servus! I´m gonna try that. Can´t do it now though, cause I am at home and it´s never sticky here
I work like 5 minutes walking distance from my home and I just tried it while walking to work and walking back home again.
At work, sometimes sticky, I guess about 20% of the times I try to unlock. At home 0%, between work and home 90%.
Just tried it out: Took it out of the pocket, tried to unlock, turned screen of, put it back in my pocket, walked 10 about meters, repeat...
Near work it wasn´t very sticky, but after 20 meters or so I only got it to unlock immediatly once. At home again, tried it 10 times, never got stuck even a bit.
Location service was already turned off, so was WiFi. 3G is always on.

[Q] Device Freezing / Dying?

Has anyone experienced their phone freezing/locking up? I'm not talking about lagging/freezing applications, but the whole phone actually locking up.
My phone seems to be freezing up about twice a week and has been for the last 3 weeks. Each time it has been when the device was in my pocket or on charge at night (and subsequently the alarm does not go off).
When the device is frozen like this, it has no indications of even having power. The power button will not turn the phone off, on, or wake the device. Plugging the phone into power doesn't even turn the orange/green charging lights on, nor play the tone for when power is connected.
I physically have to remove the battery for a few seconds from the phone and re-insert before the phone will start up. I have even performed a hard reset on this device.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm thinking that it might be a hardware fault, or at a really wild guess maybe the HTC Attentive App.
I'm having no problems with crashing or freezing!
I have actually found the device to be very stable, a lot nicer cleaner and stable than my previous device (Sony Ericsson Xperia X10).
Had exactly that problem a couple of times already. The only solution is to pull the battery out.
Still - better than an iPhone crash which requires you to plug it back into the PC before it will work again.
I had a similar situation:
I was making an international call (card service), when finished i heared the card IVR prompt if i need to make another call. I wanted to hang up but the screen was black adn dead. power button did not bring into life and i was keep on hearing the active call. had to take the battery out to kill this situation.
typically windows behaviour
Thought I had narrowed this down to the HTC attentive app, but alas the phone froze again this morning after hitting snooze 3 or 4 times. Oddly enough, the power button would turn the screen on and off, but the lock screen wouldn't show, nor could anything be moved or controlled on the screen (live tiles were still animated though). Battery pull again.
Yeah, typical windows behavior. No where near as bad as Windows Mobile which I came from though
I have the same issue. Can be in the middle of a call or anything. Had it reboot once while on charge too. Did you just remove the attentive app? Would it be worth trying a Hard Reset if that wipes the device. If so how easy is it to put your old Apps back on. Or do I need to write a list and search manually.
I did a hard reset and just didn't install the app again.
"When you buy or download apps from the Zune PC client, those apps are automatically redownloaded to the phone when you reset the device and login with your Windows Live ID again. When you download apps from the phone itself, you have to go to the Marketplace again to manually find and redownload the apps you want."

[Q] Unlocked Neo V, worked, now it wont go on

Not sure If this should be here or not. I've tried my best to search for anything similar.
I have a Sony Ericsson Neo V MT11I and I unlocked it using a program, with my USB Cable.
The unlock cost me £13 and it worked fine. I checked the phone, and It was making calls and working fine.
A few hours later, it was off, so I put in the charger and nothing. No screen or activity. The green light next to the power button comes on and If I connect it to my computer, the computer detects it, then doesn't. (I hear the new device done every minute or so). When it detects then detects its unconnected the green light flashes once.)
It was working fine after I unlocked it, but this seems to of happened hours after I unlocked it.
Thanks for any help!
Hm, sounds to me like your phone entered some sort of bootloop, it can't even go to that image which you see when you charge phone(turned off).
Maybe that's why it founds it, then it disappear, and then it founds it again, and so on.
Can you please try 2 things.
1)hold back key and connect cable to phone (of course, other side is in PC)
2)hold menu key(that's the right one, some people confuse it with home key ) and connect cable(of course, other side is in PC)
Report what happens then. To be more safe, can you please re-insert battery between 1 and 2 (and also before 1) )
Hi Buddy,
While pressing the Menu key, and connecting it, the light remains off, until I release the button. Now I've done this, there is no sound on the computer. Even If I connect it normally without pressing any key.
Thanks,
You didn't answered on my entire question.
Plus, how did you unlocked it? And by unlock, you mean SIM unlock(able to use any SIM card)?
I did that and until I let go of the menu key the light didn't come on, now it lights up upon plugin, but I hear no activity on my computer.
I used wotanserver . com/en/sony-ericsson to sim unlock it, and sorry If I was not clear!
Thanks again.
back key, back key, you didn't answer me on that part
anw, try flashing it with wotan.
Sorry for the late reply. I flashed it, and it's now working fine. I would like to thank you for your help, I'd buy you a pint If I could.
