Greenify + fingerprint not working? - Greenify

Hello,
I updated my Note 5 last night to the latest update from sprint and now unlocking the phone with fingerprint does not work if i use greenify to lock the screen. Prior to the update, also on android 6.0.1, i was able to lock the phone using greenify and unlock with my fingerprint. How can i fix this?
Thank you

Try removing and re-adding finger to the security setting

Unfortunately that did not help. This is the July 1st update that broke fp scanner

I had the same problem and solved it by enabling the 'Alternative screen off mode' in the Greenify settings. And I also made Greenify a device administrator. Now the fingerprint scanner unlocks the lock screen on my device (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge) again. It may not work on some devices it says in the setting.

Solved!

Thanks a lot for the tip, it solves the issue in mine Redmi Note 4x (Mido), with the [ROM][OFFICIAL][8.1.0][MIDO] Pixel Experience [AOSP][r1].

+2 years later with Greenify 4.7.1 this tip is still helpful thanks!

Was using Greenify for years (with and without root).
Last Phone was the galaxy S7. used the option 'Alternative screen off mode' when using fingerprint.
New phone is the Galaxy S10 and this option is missing now in greenify???
Cant get screen off and fingerprint to work. Why there is no more option for the alternative mode?
Anyone can help on this?

Fingerprint Scanner Problem in 6.0 MM

Hi guys!
I really love this phone, but I have a really, really, really annoying bug. I have only 2 days with this phone (MM updated since the first day). When I try to unlock with my finger it works most of the time, but in some occasions it ask me for the knock code or the pin directly, giving me no chance to use my fingerprint to unlock the phone. This is really annoying because I want to use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone and it does not let me. Does anyone have the same problem with the V10? Any ideas for a possible solution? Thanks a lot!

We have this problem too and assume you are using a third party launcher (Nova, Google, etc). Switch back to LG stock launcher and it fixes the problem. Think it has something to do with the lockscreen permission changes from Lollipop to Marshmallow.

I'm actually using Nova. I will switch back to LG Stock Launcher (uggly, by the way), and I'll tell you if it worked or not for me. I'm thinking on the same about te permissions in MM. There is no way to upgrade permissions from the settings or something like that to keep using a third party launcher?
Thanks a lot for the help!

I ran with LG's launcher for the past couple of weeks and since the recent beta updates to Nova shows no sign of a solution, I've reverted back to Nova and just switched to pattern unlock for the time being.
You know, even using nova, you can double tap the notification bar to turn off, and still use the fingerprint to unlock.

^ Incase anyone of you missed it, the finger print scanner works if you double tap the notification on Nova Launcher to lock the screen.
hi guys... i too have issue with finger print... my problem on MM is that i cannot even set up a finger print.. its like hard ware issue.. but i do hope its a software issue...

Try to factory reset, or change the unlock method to a different one, and then go back to fingerprint.
already did.factory reset by lg bridge..hmmmm
. i do hope its only a s/w issue. huhuhu
may due to mainboard problem
i also met this problem.
after restart, restore or refresh kdz, nothing changed...

Speak for yourself.
I'm on MM on my H960A AND I'm using Nova Launcher since the first day. Never had this issue. I only had a problem once after unlocking the bootloader. You have to enable "OEM unlock" in the developer settings prior to unlocking the bootloader and I did not disable that option again afterwards. The fingerprint sensor did not work at all with this setting enabled. You can register new fingerprints but unlock does not work.
Since I disabled this option I have no issues with Nova and fingerprint. Should you have unlocked your bootloader as well make sure you disable "OEM unlock" again.
I'm on MM and using Nova prime but I don't have any problems with the Fingerscanner!

Hi!
I have this phone for 4 days and i had the same problem like you,
I use to lock my screen with third party applications like:
Greenify or Screen Off and Lock
And for this i have the same problem like you,
If you had the third party application for locking your phone, you can uninstall them or lock your screen by double top or power button.
Good Lock!

Try this...
I've had this problem also. It seems to have started after a security update from T-Mobile.
Try this fix and let me know how it works for you:
Follow these steps:
1)Goto settings -> fingerprint & security -> fingerprints -> then delete all fingerprints
2)Then goto apps -> switch to show system apps(im using 6.0) -> find com.lge.fingerprints then remove data and cache memory.
3)Goto storage & usb -> clear cached data
4) Then restart your V10
5) After that, add fingerprints in fingerprint lock then it detects your finger.
If it doesn’t detect your finger, repeat the steps.

Fingerprint Scanner and 053116 update. (Scanning and sleep)

Hello all,
First of all, let me say that I have not used the previous ROM versions, just the latest one (053116)
I'm currently using the Aerom V3
At first, the finger print scanner seems to work perfectly (once you find the knack on how to properly add your fingerprint).
Then I start fiddling with the OS (Root, LSpeed, and Rom Toolbox) to change the processor settings (I prefer full clock + Userspace, less UI jitter) the scanner gets worse and worse with every day.
After a few days, it barely recognises the fingers (unless you deliberately place it on the scanner, while looking at it) and even worse - the phone thinks I'm scanning the finger when I'm not even touching it and locks me out. Other times it fails to register my finger at all (no vibrate, screen off), then, when I press the lock button it suddenly unlocks.
The main question is - is it a deep sleep problem? Is it an oversensitive scanner? Is it my finger residue? (I try to clean the scanner once in a while)
I also tried installing Xposed, which means I have to set the SELinux to Permissive (removing the sleep 60/70/80 line).
Anyway, I can't seem to find where the problems come from. It seems, when the phone is bone stock, the fingerprint scanner works OK most of the time.
Any help is apreciated! Thanks
I've also made a short video to display the problem.
Sorry about the mumbly voice - big room, crappy mic.

I've this error too, mainly the part of "the phone thinks I'm scanning the finger when I'm not even touching it and locks me out."
This is so annoying that i disable the FP, and this was one of the motives that i bought this phone :/
As you, this start after I root my phone with TWRP 3.0.2.1, but I just add the multiple window in the build.prop, I'm thinking on remove the root and see if this error stops.

I've recently dirty-flashed Aerom on top. Didn't lose any settings, but the fingerprint scanner has improved greatly.
Also, Lux Lite was definitely interfering with the scanner and wake-scan. So I got rid of that.

I dirty-flash the Eragon v2.8, and the FP already increased, and it's rooted. So I think the problem is related with the stock ROM

I have Aerom V5 on my phone, I am not rooted and I have the same problem. For now I have disabled the FP sensor and my battery life increased by 5 hours! I will try Eragon Mod as I prefer my phone rooted and xposed installed. I hope the new ROM won't have this FP issue.
I had several ROMs tested and conclusion is: Activated FP sensor takes about 1,5-2,5% battery per h (normally 0,2-0,5% in a good ROM without FP) in newer ROMs (Kernel > 31.05). For older Kernels it is even worse.
Unfortunately this takes us to the point that using the FP sensor will drain about 20-25% battery over night and nearly 60% in 24h :/ (to be fair: this seems to be a common problem with other devices having an always-on FP too, or to compare: even a Samsung S7 Edge needs two steps to unlock via FP) as i am a fan of using the FP sensor this really is sth. i struggle with. Best way would be to have option to disable "always-on" feature for FP-sensor, so it can be used "old" way: hit button to wake and then unlock via FP. At least it would be also sth. that i would appreciate to have quick widget to enable / disable FP or have it disabled with airplane mode to avoid the battery drain overnight.
Let me know your thoughts...

Everything would be better than disabling the FP completely. The FP scanner was one of the reasons i purchased this phone in first place....
I hope that the newly released kernel can be modified by ROM developers so that the FP scanner is usable.

I totally agree to that and same for me... if this sensor is there, i would really like to use it. In special as it is really good working (besides battery drain). I now ordered another (cheap) always-on FP sensor phone from redmi to compare the behaviour. For me a phone that is completely not used should not have battery drain >0,5% per hour.
I am also looking forward if the kernel source release will help for that issue... but if its hardware related i see no chance at all

Please share your experiences as soon as compared the two phones. I'm curious about it.
So I have flashed my phone with Eragon V3 a few days ago and I have to say I am really happy
Fingerprint reader works very good now (no scans if no finger is on the sensor and very good scan-unlock ratio)
Batterylife is even better as in Aerom V5 (10 hours over night just 4% battery needed with wifi enabled)
with regular use I get one and a half days (music, web browsing, streaming, fp enabled)
Overall performance is very smooth
Xposed and root work very well

Greenify causing recent apps and home button to drop working.

I'm using greenify on my Galaxy tab s2 and also on my note 4. No problems at all on my s2 but when I push the sleep button to hibernate my apps it puts the apps to sleep but after that my home and recent apps do nothing. They'll beep to acknowledge being touched but they no longer show the fan of open apps or return me to the home screen.
I cannot get the buttons to work unless I go to accessibility and turn off hibernate automation and then reboot.
Very frustrating. Can anyone help me with this? Any thoughts?

Similar issue just happened with my Note 4. Moved to Marshmallow last September. Battery would run down much faster then Lollipop, so installed Greenify. Everything was fine until installation of AT&T update to kernal version dated 1/2/17. Home and recent apps keys would stop working shortly after restarting the phone. Updating again to latest kernal version dated 2/15/17 and clearing cache data on all apps didn’t help. Rebooting in safe mode made the issue go away, so it pointed to an app I downloaded. It was only then I remembered that I had turned on setting Aggressive Doze (experimental) when setting up Greenify. Disabling Agressive Doze fixed my issues.

Yep - this is a potential side effect of Aggressive Doze which is why it's labeled "experimental". Gains associated with AG are minimal; I simply avoid it. Rogue app wakeups can be handled via advanced tracking and cutoff options if using the donate version w/Xposed.
Aggressive Doze is off. Home and recent keys (and slide key panel) still don't work on my android 6.0.1 Galaxy Note 4.
Interesting that this problem is affecting just Samsung Note 4s based on the posts so far. I'm not seeing it in my 6.0.1 phones.

[APP][7.0+]Fingertouch - turn your fingerprint sensor into capacitive HOME button

Hi guys, originally I developed this app for Samsung Galaxy S7, however it may work also on A5 and A7 (Android 7.0+ is required) as both have the home button with integrated fingerprint sensor. I can't guarantee it will work, but if anyone is interested, give it a try and post your results
It turns the fingerprint sensor on Galaxy phones into a capacitive Home button - so you don't need to press the button physically, just touch it like a sensoric button.
Original topic is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/fingertouch-apk-fingerprint-sensor-t3596588
And you can download the app on PLAY STORE or in the above topic.
So it works perfectly on the A5 2016 with the Nougat update.
But is it possible that you can add that you can turn the phone on? So when the screen is off it goes to the lockscreen.
Unfortunately that's not possible with app because fingerprint sensor is deactivated when screen is off, it's a system limitation.
Hello @ranwej. Loved the app, been using it ever since I got my S7 but now that I've updated my OS to Oreo, there seems to be a problem when unlocking the phone with fingerprint. Instead of just touching the home button, you have to swipe up to unlock the phone now. I have tried turning off the Fingertouch app and unlocking it has no issues. Please fix, I would like to always keep this app on.

Power off screen with fingerprint sensor without triggering pin-unlock to wake?

I set up Fingerprint Quick Actions app on my old Axon 7 so that when I pressed the fingerprint reader, it shut off the screen. Now, when I try to set up the same system on the S9+, I can set the screen to turn off, but when using the fingerprint reader to wake the phone up afterwards, I am forced to do a pin-unlock instead of biometric.
Does anyone know a fix or is this not something that can be done anymore in Oreo?
Same problem here...all third party lock screen app is not supported in this sense.

it wont work as said by OP, both widget type and double tap screen lock/off will make fingerprint unusable since it will ask for a pin. really wanted this too, hope we can find a solution.

Actually, Nova DOES work, because it doesn't actually lock the screen. It resets the screen timeout to a very short value, turns the screen off, and then resets both after the device locks on it's own (or you take some action). I use it all the time, but it only works from a Nova home screen, not from anywhere else.

For a similar outcome I am using the 'screenoff' app and it's working for me (Snapdragon SM-G965U1 running Pie)
Because I haven't done enough posts I can't post the link but search for github and jsalatas and ScreenOff and you'll find it
Powers off screen with app button instead of fingerprint sensor and then allows fingerprint opening.
