I usually have wifi and data permanently enabled, with my apps using my home wifi to connect to the internet most of the time. I've found that a number of apps (e.g. Android Market) don't always manage to obtain an internet connection, despite a number of retries, but if I close them and open Opera Mini it establishes a connection immediately and thereafter the other apps can also access the net again.
I've frequently needed to use Opera Mini in this way to "kick start" the internet for other apps which are unable to connect by themselves.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Never had this issue, are you trying to connect after waking the phone up? Check to see if wifi sleep is turned onto never, if that fails try another kernel as newer ones have fixed previous wifi issues.

Yes it's after waking the phone that I get this issue. I have wifi sleep set to "never". I'm running stock kernel XWKI4 (updated via Kies), unlocked.
Does this sound like a "known" problem?

I had that problem for months even after flashing new firmware. To temp fix, I would just turn data off them back on, on the phone. It has stopped with the firmware KK5 though.
yes i to have the same problem and i switch off tether and get error then turn off turn on and it works for a while some times hours other times minutes
Hi i went from stock ics on my ray to cm9 by followingnexact step by step guide provided by cm9. Used their kernel as well. Have never modded my phone before. Having a small problem with wifi though. After my phone has been asleep for a while, if i wake it up the wifi icon in status bar is no longer blue its a dark grey and i can no longer browse anything or use the internet. Ive tried rebooting. I did the whole wipe cache etc when installing cm9. In wifi settings in advanced ive also left the setting to "leave wifi on when sleep" checked. If i turn off and on the wifi connection the phone ofcourse is able to reconnect again the icon is blue and i can connect. It not jsut a one off thing its been happening since i isntalled the rom.
If i wakek from sleep a few minutes later i have no issue with wifi. Its only when its been sleep for a while do i have this issue.
Any solutions?
I have the exact same problem but for me it's even bigger, whenever i turn on wifi on my modem, i can connect to internet on my phone, but after awhile i lose my connection completely, on my phone and on my pc also, the only way to get it back is to reset my router and wait for like 5-10minutes...

If its also an issue with your. Pc then your issue might be also the router.
My other devices actually work fine in my case its oky this phone that has issues. Macbook iphone ipad nexus s no problems with those.
Same issue here. I can see available networks but unable to connect. There should be no problem with the wifi router as all my other devices work well and I have tried another router. Now I have to flash back to stock firmware.

Your issue seems more severe than mine. Mine actually connects and works, just that when it wakes from long sleep it wont work until i turn off and on wifi.
I get this problem too, but my problem even worse than yours. My wifi lose it's connection after a while, but the icon on status bar shows it's connected, running ping test, browse, even play store can't be accessed. I pinged the router and got unreachable.
And yeah, this problem occurs when I'm using all ICS based rom..
Anybody has any idea if this is a known problem, or if its just us few having thisissue?

I have same problem. I have SE xperia mini with CM9. WiFi worked fine until yesterday. Now phone can't connect to AP (full signal - try connect -> signal drops down), but sharing 3G internet over WiFi works fine. I cleared dalvik cache, but that didn't help.
Hi all,
I have a problem while connecting to WiFi hotspot feature. I have Feravolt v3 JB rom, Ferakernel.
I am able to activate the Wifi hotspot feature in the phone and its broadcasting fine until I try to connect from my laptop's wireless adapter. The SSID is detected in the wireless networks and when i try to connect, it acquires the ip address and as soon as I get the message 'wireless connected', the phone LED color changes and the phone reboots. I tried both pdanet+ and also the hotspot feature in the rom. both times the phone restarts. I did factory reset and tested hotspot feature before installing any other apps. still the same result. I also tried keeping the phone charged while connecting to hotspot. No luck. I am able to do usb tethering, reverse tethering without any problem. I did not overclock. Just using default settings that came with the rom. disabled sleep policy, kept the screen always on......
My only guess is that might be battery problem and if so any idea how to overcome this problem without buying a new battery.
Anyone had similar problem before or its a first?
Appreciate if someone can guide me if I need to enable or disable any feature.

My phone is on the fritz with random restarts and occasional bootloops but I still need to use it somehow. Now it won't connect to a wifi network. When i switch wifi on, it either does nothing or the antenna icon in the quick settings blinks but doesnt connect.
Im on stock LG android 4.4.2, but rooted.
Ideas?
