I'm currently running cyanogenmod on my S4, and I want to try out the 4.4.2 version of touchwiz when that becomes available for our phone, but I probably will want to go back to cyanogenmod afterward. So is there a way to do this without my phone being completely locked down upon installing touchwiz. For instance will using a custom rom based on Touchwiz made by someone else still lock down my bootloader and such?
Thanks in advance.

If you flash a custom rom then it should not; but if you make a OTA Update with the stock Touchwiz, then you will lose
Hope this helps

don't do ota and just wait for some developers to update their touchwiz based custom roms that runs 4.4.2 and install.
if you update the ota, you will lose the ability to get a custom recovery that works with aosp or cm.

That's what I was planning to do, I just wanted to make sure using a custom touchwiz rom wouldn't have the same result on my recovery that the ota would

No it wouldn't because the devs remove all the stock OTA options. Not that they'd take an OTA anyways cuz you'd be so far from stock anyways. The only updates you'd be getting would be directly from that roms devs only

I was just wondering if now that there is a 4.4.2 ota out for the DNA that it will make the custom roms more stable? I updated to it and kept root and it doesn't seem to be any different and I hate the stock ui. Want to go back to a custom Rom but they all seem to have some issue or other that gets old over time so I end up crack flashing everything on here every few days haha.

Yea I saw that a couple days ago. Guess I worded it wrong. Now that the droid has a stock 4.4.2 will the developers be able to take whatever parts they need from it to fix the bugs etc on custom roms? Or will the DNA having the 4.4.2 radio and kernels etc will it make the custom roms such as the m7 and m8 ports and Google editions of 4.4.2 more stable?
HTC did in fact release the 442 kernel source, so new 442 Roms will be stable and I can fix z and my beast mode kernel

4.4.2 Sense based ROMs definitely should be much better. The CM based ones probably not a big difference.

Can someone point me to a thread that has the exact TW 4.4.2 rom or maybe a debloated stock rom for users who did not take an OTA update?

Is there any news on stock Lollipop for our VS985? I'd like to switch over, but not to AOSP, it seems most variants have a stock 5.XX ROM.

What are you looking for?. there is no stock lollipop for Verizon yet, verizon has not updated the G3 to lollipop yet. latest verizon stock build is 12B kitkat. if you want lollipop you need to flash an aosp rom.

I was just looking to see if someone got LG Lollipop working on the VS985. Cloudy was able to use the international version (I think) and port it to the VS985.

I see, well you posted in a verizon G3 section, "stock" would mean a release from verizon, which they have not given us yet....
I've been looking but can't seem to find a stock LG ROM with Lollipop 5.1.0 or 5.1.1. Is there one and I've missed it? All of the other custom ROMs seem to update to that.
