I charged my phone as usual as I slept and I noticed that the tip of the usb cable had gotten extremely hot , I removed it and allowed it to cool but it wasn't charging anymore. The phone was on 40% so I decided to pull the battery and reboot although it won't turn on anymore. I'm pretty sure the charging port did not fry as the cable looks pretty fine and I can not boot into recovery or anything.. What do I do?
Just bought a new usb-c cable and the G5 is still not turning on.

They said I should bring it to the shop if it was a fault and not actual damage to the device (Which I presume would be dropping my phone or something) for a replacement and it'd be sorted

Does anyone have problems with the touchscreen when the phone is charging? Mine goes crazy when I hit the screen sometimes, it simply opens up different icons than I click, I can't even slide the answer button when someone calls, I need to unplug it first... Should I send it to Samsung?
yes you should
Or at least RTFM.

Also is your charger a cheap ebay one or is it the one that came with the phone? Also does it work when you charge off usb?

I experienced this behaviour after using the cheap charger... So there is nothing wrong with phone ... Just use any branded charger..
On jellybean stock rooted. Not charging, phone randomly reads dozens of fake touches. Nearly unusable. Checked show touches in dev options, shows 5+ touches when it happens. Any help?

Quit using a cheap charger.
If you are using the included charger, try running it off of a powerstrip, or with a different USB cable.
I'm not sure why, but this phone seems more sensitive to bad/unsteady electricity than others I've used in the past.

For some reason I took that to mean that his phone wasn't getting charged when plugged in.
You may have a bad phone, OP.

Good point... Perhaps it is I who is misinterpreting. It was my assumption that OP mentioned that to eliminate the most common cause of funky touch response, which you mentioned.

Then I'd agree with Matrix. Stock firmware and not plugged in pretty much leaves hardware as your issue...

I've personally had touch misreads on this phone when using cheap chargers, so that's why I assumed what I did.
I also had this happen to my old Inspire when using a cheap DealExtreme charger, but only then.
Basically, the touches misreading seems to indicate that the current being supplied to the digitizer is inconsistent. Obviously, there are multiple things that could cause this.
chrisphoenix7, have you been using the supplied charger?

Sounds like a bad charger, either this or a bad batter/USB port but I would first attempt a different charger or USB cord, preferably a high quality one

You think sir it's USB port?
Sent from my Razor using xda app-developers app
well if you need to plug it in 5 times and then when it does charge its real slow, and you have tried multiple cables to the same effect, this would be my guess.
if it were me i test to see if its software related first, if your rooted try a few roms
also check to see if adb works over usb
also there are apps to test usb, i use zdevice test for a lot of hardware testing, cant remember off hand how good their usb test is though (kinda remember there are better ones but cant think off hand)
if you paid by credit card often you can get a copy of recipt by calling cc company
I already tried Rom but it doesn't change anything sir.. and my phone is local brand

I bought a S3 charger (in samsung) it charges for a week, but recently it charges slow. I downloaded an app called "galaxy charging current" and it seems like I get unstable charging sometimes 800, 600 or even 100. I unplug the charger then plug it back to work, sometimes it charges faster sometimes no luck. (I have tried charging other phones using my charger and it seems to work). Thanks in advance

Known problem that samsung charging cable sucks, get another cable and iy should be fixed

Try using a USB cable to charge your your phone instead. They are more reliable.
Thank you, I'll try using another cable. Tell you the results after.
I'm still getting 100s from the app. Is it possible my phone is the one that has problems?

Take to service centre are your choices
Hello,
Recently I was trying to make my own charging cord. I found some old charger and stripped it. On the charger there were 3 wires. a green, black, and white one. I then plugged my phone in and tried it out. I believe I used the green and white wire but Im not completely sure. After connecting the wires a spark flew from it. After that I checked my phone and now it won't turn on. I am wondering if there is anything that could fix this.
You probably either fried the battery or shorted out the logic board. You could try another battery first(which requires partial disassembly). Otherwise, if its the logic board, you may as well buy another DNA.
Sounds like you borked the hardware. Does it charge when you plug an official charger in. If there is no sign of life at all probably bricked it.

No I've tried charging it with its original charger. I may just buy a new phone or try replacing the battery. It depends how easy it is to replace. Any other ideas?
Thanks

There are 2 possibilities. Either the battery fried or the entire board fried. Hopefully it's the battery because to get a new board put in is about 270$. I would try replacing the battery first and see how it goes.

How difficult exactly is it to replace the battery?

I would think it would be difficult since it's under everything else on the phone. The battery also has strong adhesive holding it to the housing. I've seen people bend it trying to get it out so it's in there pretty good. I can't imagine it would be easy.
