Hi all,
It's been a few years since I did this. My first device I rooted and did stuff on was a HTC Wildfire S. However Android has changed a lot since then.
With that, I was able to select how much to partition through the recovery and it would work.
Is that still possible with Lollipop (and using TWRP as I used CWM then)?
Device In question is a Moto E Condor 2014

So you flashed a rom for a completely different device and expected it not to brick your phone?
Your best bet is to find the stock rom for you device and pray that it works. Don't hold out to hope though.
Also before flashing your device take a week and do your research. Flashing a device is not something done because it is cool. There are very real risks to it.

Hello guys, I have a Moto E 1st generation. Today, Android 5.1 update came out for my phone and I have a question. I have a 32Gb Micro SD and 6Gb secondary partition for apps (linking etc).
I have rooted my phone and I am using Apps2SD to transfer some of my apps (that doesn't need big speed for loading etc) to sd-ext.
My questions is:
1) If I upgrade, will I have any problems with my rooting?
2) If I upgrade, will linking fail? If it will, will I be able to relink by reinstalling the Apps2SD?
If anyone has done anything of these, please answer to me.
Thank you!
I use link2sd and it works flawlessly with lollipop. No rooting problems or linking problems.

Hi all,
I stuck with thinking and perhaps somebody knows if this is possible at all and how to:
I have an Onyx and I am on new bootloader, TWRP by BlueSpark and ROM is Crdroid Nougat 7.1
This works perfect as daily driver.
Usually I do nandroids out of TWRP for proper backup before trying other things and I use the OTG connection with a 128GB drive, also worked perfectly so far.
Lately I added a microsd instead of the 2nd SIM, and I migrated it to become available as internal memory, because I ran out of memory.
Also this is working well and as exepted.
Now I would like to go into TWRP and make a Nandroid. At this point I am not able to backup internal memery including the migrated SD card. I can only backup the "real" internal part, so I do not have a real snapshot of the whole phone to be on hand if needed to be restored.
How can I achieve that, I can't find the clue? There is no relevant partionion I can add, whatever? Is it possible at all? Perhaps it is related to the TWRP version?
Thanks for your thoughts,
D.
I don't have a link for it but I'll at least tell you what happened. When you choose to use the SD card as "adopted storage" Android encrypts the SD card so that it can store sensitive app data on it securely. Since it's encrypted TWRP cannot read the SD card now at all. I think there's a version of TWRP on here (maybe by the developer of Blu_spark?) that is for devices that are encrypted but since I myself don't use encryption I don't know where that is on here.
hi guys I'm using moto g3 android 5.1.1
it automatically got formatted and all my data in internal storage was gone but no apps got errors or uninstalled..it works as before.. only my stuffs are gone
this is second time facing same prob.. .1st time before rooting
what is the reason? how to make sure it will not happen again?
I bought a cheap phone to use when I travel to "dangerous" places. The phone is:
BLU Grand Energy
Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)
Mediatek MT6580
Mali-400MP2
The issue is that it only has 8GB internal storage, which is almost full with System + apps that can't be moved to SD Card. So I inserted a SD Card to get more storage. It was all great and fun, until I noticed that after every update the apps on the SD Card goes back to internal storage and I lose all my sessions/credentials, having to transfer them back to SD Card one by one and re-login in all of the apps. This is ridiculous and I can't continue with that. So I decided to root the device, but I couldn't find any tutorial specific for this phone.
Basically, I just want to root the device to properly install the apps on the SD Card and avoid this ridiculous "back and forth", I won't be tweaking with anything else as this isn't even my main phone. Is there a ELI5 (Explain Like I'm Five) tutorial for that? I've read that I first need to flash a Custom Recovery, so I can do a dump of the boot image, then I alter this image with Magisk and flash it back in.
Right now, I'm stuck on "flash a Custom Recovery" following this XDA tutorial, it was all good until step 3 said that "Now you have all the basics to get started, so you’ll want to find the specific instructions for how to flash the recovery on your phone. Check your device’s XDA forum for more info.", the problem is that no one mentions my phone anywhere, it seems I'm the only one who bought this thing. Also, the tutorial said that I need a Rooted Android Device to install a custom recovery, but I need a custom recovery to root, this is a loophole, a nightmare
Can anyone help me with CLEAR instructions?
