[HOW TO] Install Xposed Framework on SM-G530AZ - Galaxy Grand Prime General

Okay so I have not seen anything new in regards to us unfortunate enough to have the Cricket variant of the grand prime, so I decided to put together a little step by step to get xposed installed and running on this device, I think it may work on others as well, but since I have not attempted it then do not just assume it will. This guide is as stated in the sub line of the post for the SM-G530AZ running 5.1.1 Lollipop. I am not responsible if you brick or bootloop etc etc your device. So long as you can follow directions you should be fine.
1. First of all you must already have root access on your device, mine is using SUPERSU to handle root requests. If you do not have root yet then check forums for way to do so it is there already, however you must root with kingroot or manually with the same exploit that kingroot is leveraging in order to obtain it before attempting the install of xposed, otherwise it will fail.
2. You need to download the zip file attached to this post to your desktop or device and unzip it into your device sdcard.
3. Once you have extracted the apk and zip files into the sdcard you need to install the xposed installer apk so make sure you have enabled Unknown Sources from your settings/Security menu and you may get a warning from the device as well that is okay just tap okay and finish the install.
4. Now you need to download flashfire from the play store and install it as well. Open flashfire and flash the xposed-v80.0-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160211.zip that you will have extracted Choose flash zip in flashfire and make sure you leave automount unchecked. You can open the xposed installer app to make sure it recognized it, which it should if you flashed it properly.
5. Now you can enjoy the Xposed Framework on your device.
I am currently attempting to learn as much as I can about the trust zone and smc as I can tell you that is the only way we are going to get custom recovery and roms on this thing sadly. I am also following someone who claims to be able to rollback android from 5.0+ to 4.0-4.4.4 via jtag which is something I too have pondered on if it was possible and honestly I think it would be, I would like to explore the possibility that their may have been more vulnerabilities within the device prior to the 5.1.1 update I currently have 5.1.1 installed which is what the device had at time of purchase for me, however some may still be running 4.4.4 if you happen to be using 4.4.4 still then I cannot say whether this guide will work or not for you I think it would but you would probably need to use a little older version of the xposed installer but I am not certain, I would probably just update to lollipop if you really want to be safe about it and the firmware has been posted on these forums as well. Please hit the thanks if this helped you out at all, and if you are confused or have an issue you can pm me and I will try my best to get back to you whenever possible. But this is how I got xposed working on my device by simply rooting with kingroot, then using the mrw script to remove kingroot and replace with supersu and enabling unknown sources. The root guide that exists for this device however stated to flash some other boot.img and I actually had issues when I did that step, so after i went back to stock again I did the root guide with kingroot and did not ever flash that other boot image and all worked fine for me.

Awesome thanks. I assume install King root then flashfire then SuperSU binary then uninstall king root. For SuperSU?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Thank you so much!!!!!! I have been trying to do this for 3 days now!!! I have soft bricked my device, restored it, got it going again, soft bricked again. Over and over. Until finally, today on my first day off all week I took the time to read your posts over again. I found this one and it finally got me there! I have the same exact phone, Cricket Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Model SM-G530AZ. I have been struggling to find a TWRP or CWP recovery and I am pretty sure there isn't one available currently. So then I found this method and FINALLY SUCCESS!!!!! Anywhere I can donate to you?

Need Help Desperately:-? Do I have TRUE Root?

Hey Guy n Gals need some help, to make a long story short Im on Sony Z Ultra C6806 on KitKat 4.4.4. .108
So I rooted via:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
During the process I was having some trouble getting the program to work, finally it went trough the steps and said it failed, however root checker showed root, and so I figured I would go ahead and instal Super Su, it attempted to update Su Binary and failed, rebooted and it seemed to be working, BUT I cant install Busy Box or Xposed, someone please help me on how to solve this.....thanks guys
Pics
well you need to flash a recovery for locked bootloader then reboot to system.
Now execute the superuser app again. When it prompts that you need to update superSU, choose CWM/TW...whatever its named that weird alien recovery thing. It will now if successfully granted, reboot to recovery and install the right files.
Or and if the above method did not work you can flash the latest from here http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
I did use this method on my dads Z1 and it worked great cause he is unwilling to unlock bootloader! However you can also try this tool below if you have no luck with the first rooting tool
link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
edit: You need to enable adb root. I do not know where to find this in stock rom. But it has a huge point to stopping other apps for gaining superuser rights if this is disabled.
You can find this on aosp roms in the developer settings around the setting for usb debugging. It might be around the same area on sony stock rom?
In the SuperSU app there is an option in settings you can disable that is named something like "respect kitkat api". This can also help.
Thanks man for taking time out of your day to give me such a detailed response, it is users like yourself that truly make XDA work

[Q] Custom ROMs for the LG Transpyre (VS810PP)

Hi Everyone,
I've seen this question posted randomly in threads for other topics but didn't see a thread for the question itself so thought Id put it out there because
1. I'm curious to the answer myself.
2. Having this thread might back the search for others with the same question slightly less time consuming and a whole lot easier.
That being said, does anyone out there know of any custom roms for, or ones that will work on, the LG VS810PP (Transpyre)?? Also, since (as far as I can tell) the Transpyre and the LG Tribute are essentially the same phone, could one use a custom rom for the Tribute on the Transpyre? Surely, I wont be stuck with staying on stock! I MUST MOD!!! :cyclops: :fingers-crossed:
Any and all help IS GREATLY and WHOLEHEARTEDLY appreciated! Thanks soooo much in advance.
Calling all Modders! Calling all Modders!
I have this device as well and would love to get off the stock Rom an instal CM or other, hate the bloatware an Rom over all seems sluggish. I am sure there is someone with the knowledge out there that has this device an can help!!!!! Calling all Transpyre Modders! Its time to Rom Out!
Root, but no rom
Im a Transpyre user and was able to succesfully root but have yet to find any custom roms. in the meantime i have removed lots of bloatware and things are running a lil better and my battery is lasting a bit longer.
I was able to root, de-bloat and install TWRP. I also made a backup and was able to restore. I know that's not much info but every little bit helps.

A backup of the stock recovery? If so I'd love one of those right now, can't install 5.1.1 OTA without it (and I don't think I can install 5.1.1 with TWRP without someone making a custom flashable ROM?).
Does anyone have a list of the bloatware I can safely disable or uninstall? A short description of it would also be nice if possible to see if it's something I need or not. I am rooted and also have the transpyre. Not a bad phone for the price.
Same here I've been scouring the net looking for a custom Rom for the transpyre but cannot seem to find anything for it, makes me wonder why this phone is not so cared for as If it were a contract phone
I know what you mean, I understand wasn't a very popular phone but I know you and I ain't the only ones that have it. Just have to be patient I guess and wait for someone that has worked on it to help is.

I used the kinguser app to get root on it. I doubted it would work but It did The trick. make sure you update the King user app to prevent most apps from saying you don't have root, also, A strange thing happened though I used the jrummy root checker and now it says my phone is an Lg F60. Not sure if that's a bad thing. Also keep in mind you will lose your custom recovery I've been looking for ways to flash the twrp/cwm recoveries but it seems to be locked to the stock recovery. I've been putting it off but I'm going to test pushing the files through adb and see if that does anything. I'll let you know whether It bricks or not

I unboxed by Transpyre yesterday, it was running 5.1.1
I also used kingroot straight from kingroot.net to root mine, then SuperSU Me Pro to remove the Kingroot Apps. Reliable root now, been debloating today.
Kingroot method works
I also used Kingroot to root my phone then replaced the kingroot app with SuperSU

Do you have a backup of your rom? and could you post a link to it?
I was able to root using Kingroot 4.5 and replace it with SuperSU using the "Super-Sume Pro 9.2.1 apk" All newer versions of the Super-Sume Pro .apk hung up during the first phase of its operation and all of the free versions of Super-Sume I had tried (the most recent) caused my phone to hang at the Verizon screen during reboot.
I found a YouTube video:
"How to Install CyanogenMOD 12 on the LG F60 and LG Tribute"
Which claimed the procedure was the same for the Transpyre (vs810pp) and included links to another video:
"How To Install TWRP Recovery on the LG F60, LG Tribute and LG Transpyre"
As well as a download link for "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" which is supposed to be correct for the Transpyre (vs810pp) phone.
However after I installed "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" I received an error during reboot: "Secure booting Error! Error Code : 1003" Afterword my phone would not do a factory reset, and only displayed that error message on every attempt..
I had since installed:
csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW07S65232BYAJX41F92ORK/VS810PU4_08_ARB01.kdz
(The factory 5.1.1 ROM which I found here in another thread) restoring the factory recovery ROM using the guide: "How to flash firmware to LG smart phone with LG Flash Tool 2014" I was able to repair the boot error.
How are you guys getting TWRP to work well? Would one of you be kind enough to point me in the direction of the the TWRP file that is successfully being used?
Would any of you guys currently running TWRP be able to provide your bootloader and dependency files?
If so would you kindly make them available over at :
xda-developers - Android Development and Hacking - Miscellaneous Android Development - [RECOVERY][e2nam] TWRP 2.8.5.0 touch recovery LG MS395
It appears that there may be another, far more advanced enthusiast (I believe the author of the "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" I mentioned earlier) posting over there who could potentially be able to put together something useful for those of us running the Lollipop 5.1.1 factory ROM.
does anyone have a stock rom? Im seriously screwed here without one

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 SM-G750A AT&T Root. Plus Hotspot unlocked for Cricket or other

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 SM-G750A AT&T Root. Plus Hotspot unlocked for Cricket or other
First step is to root your phone using King Root. This is the only known root to this day for the Mega 2 AT&T version that has the locked bootloader. It also wasn't known until a few days ago. It does not require a computer. Go to your security section in your phone settings and check unknown sources. Download King Root, run it and even without rebooting you will have root within a few minutes.
Here is the link where I found King Root right here on XDA. So I feel good posting the link.
In the first post at the end is the attachment. Be sure you use 4.0.0.233 because that's the one that worked for me. I attached the Root King 4.0.0.233 file at the bottom of this post.
It goes on to mention how to replace king root with supersu. I haven't tried to replace king root because it works fine like it is. If someone wants to try it let me know.
Also during my testing I tried to install a zip from my stock bootloader and it wiped my whole phone back to stock. I assume any changes we make to this rom can not be done flashing a zip because of the locked bootloader. After it wiped everything I still had root though. The root application was the only application left on my phone besides the stock bloatware. If you want to remove Root King you need the app so I guess it's good that the app stays unless you uninstall using its own app.
Now we can install Titanium Backup. Run it close it then go back and (pay for if you haven't done it before) get Titanium Backup Pro key that will allow you to freeze apps. So you can freeze all the apps that will try to update your phone.
You can also remove all the bloatware.
After days of trying different apps to get hotspot to work I found this on another forum. Rather then posting a link (to another site) I have made this shortened version from the original and have given credit to Max Lee. If you want the original thread that includes photos of each step then Google search the title I copied below.
This was not originally written for the Mega 2 but it works perfectly on our Mega.
How to Get Free Wifi Tether on Rooted Android! [AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon]
BY MAX LEE · JULY 2, 2014
Step 1. Download Xposed Installer and Xposed XTether APK files.
Download:
Download Xposed Installer APK
*http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
Download Xposed XTether APK
*http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.dym.motoxtether
*Step 2. Install both APK files.* You may have to check “Unknown Sources” ON under Settings->Security.
*Step 3. Once both apps installed, open Xposed Installer app then press “Framework”.
*Step 4. Hit “Install/Update”.* This will install Xposed Framework.* You can also uninstall it later down the road when you don’t need it anymore if you want.
*Step 5. Make sure you hit “Grant” or “Allow” when Superuser request window pops up!
*Step 6. Hit “Cancel” when installation is done.* Do not reboot yet!
*Step 7. Go to “Modules” in Xposed Installer app.
*Step 8. Make sure Moto Tether is checked ON.* This is actually the XTether app.
*Step 9. Once rebooted, try turning on your Wifi Tether Mobile Hotspot.* It should now be working without annoying messages from your carrier!* Congratulations!
My added steps.
* Step 10. To turn on hotspot you need to go to settings and press Tethering and Wifi Hotspot then press Mobil hotspot, finally slide the switch to on.
Go to Play Store and get HotSpot Toggle by Mehdy Bohlool.
This will make a widget you can put on you home screen to make it easy to turn on and off the hotspot without going through all those other steps each time you want to turn it on and off.
Install it then go to your widgets, find the HotSpot Toggle, grab it and drop it onto your home screen.
I am going to reserve this space incase later I need to add something.
what is ur firmware?I have a G750a on baseband G750AUCU3A0FA did not work...............neither any root method
thank you for the post anyway
I'm in the same page as you. I have the same baseband, and it appears that may have "fixed" whatever exploits others have found. I went so far as to fill up my phone with apps so it doesn't have enough room to download the AT&T updates anymore. I cannot stop these automatic updates without root. I've tried several Kingroot versions, including the one from this post. I've tried Towelroot with several different options. I sure wish I could get this thing rooted. The sandboxed SD card kills my emulation.
mine is updated as well and no root option is working at the moment which totally sux
Any1's able to share an ADB dump or the whole 5.1.1 firmware? :highfive:
I updated mine to 5.1.1 in hopes that one of the root methods would start working. Still no go with either Kingroot or Towelroot. I'd give the dump a try, but I don't think we can get an ADB dumb without root can we? If so, I would mind giving it a shot.
No root before modification of kernel itself (my opinion)
I still don't understand why you posted the chinese version of Kingroot...it just doesn't make sense...

The gs4 that used to be unrootable if it was updated to lollipop, has now been able to root using a newer version of kingroot. Try again to root your att mega 2 on lollipop using one of the latest kingroot. A new bonus now is if you do get root from kingroot you can buy Supersume from the playstore and it will remove kingroot and replace it with supersu automatically. There is a free method to manually replace kingroot with supersu also.

Oh man, I did almost the exact same thing. Only difference is that I used a script instead of Supersu-me. I am too stuck in a boot loop, and cannot get Odin, Kies 2.6, Kies 3 or Samsung Smart Switch to work. Every time I get this error on my phone in download mode: "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3. This is the script I used to turn my phone into a boot loop:

"It's Not Free So Get The Wallet Out" Good Luck To You.........
Ok for those having issues of bootloop, there are easy ways to fix this.
If you are able to flash via Odin, just flash any firmware version on top of the one you have.
The device will probably boot normally, but will have issues inside OS. This issues should be fixed once you boot in recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache. BACKUP your suff in windows before you do the factory reset, just ignore the bugs in case they happen and backup your sutff viaSamsung Kies3/Smartswitch or normal windows browsing.
After your phone is back to normal, you can update to latest firmware again OTA WIFI, Odin, Kies/Smartswitch, SamFirm etc.

Can I even root my phone? Or at least install a rooted rom? (I545VRUGOC1 Build)

Ok.. so.. I keep seeing people saying there is a way to root still if you are on GOC1.. but I can't find anything that says what that way is. I also see 5.1 roms for this phone, but nothing that says how to install the bootloader it requires to install them. On my old phone, a Droid X2 you had to root before you could install a bootloader before you could install a rom. I am not seeing any straight up guides on here for working with this S4.
What I really want is just a basic root, so I can uninstall all the hardcoded crapware on this phone (NFL Mobile, Trip Advisor, etc..)
Short of that I want to install CM 12.1, which is probably a better route anyway, but the page for that says you must be on so and so bootloader without telling you how to INSTALL said bootloader. I'm totally lost here, things were a bit more straight forward on that old phone.
Edit: Yeah, I think what I really want to do is install CM 12.1, but I don't even know where to start.
you can't install cm12.1 or any version of cyanogenmod. the bootloader on this device is locked, meaning no custom recovery and ROMs. there is one bootloader that is the target of an exploit called Loki (basically, boot images and recoveries have to be patched in order to work, most popular ones are) but it only works with VRUAMDK, a bootloader that shipped with the device in like July 2013 when the s4 first released.
for oc1, you can root using the kingroot desktop version. Google it

Kingroot doesn't work. I don't know what its saying in the orange text after I run it since its not in english, but it doesn't work.
I did some rough translations of kingroot statements here from someone's pictures using google trans. Maybe they'll help.
also, people have said that if kingroot fails the first time, uninstall, restart comp and reinstall before trying again, as the system tends to stay on even after closing the program.
p.s. probably not worth mentioning, but, remember to have USB debugging turned on.
As far as ROMs if and when you get root, you need flashfire and Stangs ROM. It's modded and debloated OC1
Try getting KingRoot desktop version 3.0 I just used it on Version I545VRUGOC1 that I did the OTA update with and got it rooted I can use Titanium Backup to remove all samsung Knox and other bloat wear.

Does this version of Kingroot work for Thor 4.5.5.2?

Someone on another forum posted that this version of Kingroot, apparently updated 1/22/17 (v 5.0.3), works for the last update of Fire OS on Thor (4.5.5.2). Has anyone tried this out? I want it to be true, because I lost root on the last update, but I don't want to brick my device or open myself up to any other issues if it's some sort of trojan. At some point I was going to try a rollback and then root, but I would much prefer to use a one and done apk if possible. Can anyone confirm that this works?

All KingRoot builds use the same cloud database to scan for vunerabalities and match up with known exploits. The various KingRoot clients may sequence tests differently and clutter your device with varying 'gifts'... especially the v5 series. I would go the rollback and root path. It's safe, easy and fast. Only caveat is the device must maintain network isolation (WiFi off; airplane mode engaged) while the device is on FireOS 3.2.8. If the device takes an OTA update while on 3.2.8 it will brick with no possible recovery.

If the device takes an OTA update while on 3.2.8 it will brick with no possible recovery.

KingRoot is basically how I was planning on rooting my device anyway. Is there any real advantage, in terms of "safety" with applying KingRoot after I've done the rollback as opposed to before doing one? And can KingRoot even be don on 4.5.5.2? I've been told ad naseum that this version of Fire OS cannot be rooted, but it looks as though it can now. If I'm going to be taking a risk with KingRoot anyway, wouldn't it be better to do so without the rollback and possible bricking of my device? Has there been any confirmation that KingRoot can in fact root 4.5.5.2 now?
eta: And just to be clear, this is KingRoot that we're talking about, right, not KingORoot?
Yes, I used Kingroot 4.8.1 to root 4.5.5.2. It took a couple of retries, but eventually it was successful.

KingRoot is borderline malware but gets the job done (eventually; often takes multiple attempts) and carries no additional liabilities if the device is going to be immediately unlocked and wiped. 4.5.X -> 3.2.8 rollback is not unduly risky if network isolation is maintained on 3.2.8. TowelRoot is the tool of choice on FireOS v3; fast and reliable. Ultimately the choice is yours. Good luck.

Another quick newbie question. Does KingRoot have to stay on your device in order to maintain root access? Can I use it to root and then uninstall it and still maintain root access? Is that what you mean by "unlocked and wiped?"

Uninstalling KingRoot (KingUser) via conventional means also removes root. There are methods for transitioning a different root manager (eg: SuperSU) if you plan to stay on FireOS. SuperSume is one such tool. Does not seem to be effective against more recent KingRoot builds which actively resist removal.
Unlocking refers to the bootloader; wiping is a recommended prerequisite for cleanly replacing FireOS with a custom ROM. Wiping also removes KimgRoot detritus.

Have you tried installing SuperSu or another root manager as a replacement since rooting with KingRoot?
I unlocked the bootloader and installed LineageOS. Using the default root included with the latest unofficial build.

I see. So you replaced KingRoot with the default root manager that came with the LineageOS build?
Update: I did install KingRoot. And I installed the Google Play Store after that. I was unable to replace KingRoot with SuperSu. So, I uninstalled KingRoot, and of course, it took root access with it. But I got what I wanted, for the most part, which was to be able to install the Google Play Store on my HDX. It appears to be working fine even without root access. I would have preferred to keep root access, but I don't really trust KingRoot enough to keep it on my device. Now, I just need to block updates so Amazon doesn't mess with GPS.
Can anyone tell me if it's okay that I moved the DeviceSystemOTA.apk to another folder? It wouldn't allow me to rename it, so I cut and paste it into another folder to rename it with the intention of moving it back to the system folder. I realized after it wouldn't allow me to put the file back that I can't do anything with the system folder (can't rename things, can't add files) now that I don't have root. It only let me remove the file. Is it okay that the file is just not in the system folder? I was essentially going to make it inoperable by renaming it and removing "apk" from it anyway. @Davey126?

Should not be a problem provided you remember where it resides should you wish to enable OTA updates at a later time. Note there are other system files containing the characters "OTA" that should not be moved or renamed.

Good to know. Yeah, it was just the one file. Thanks so much for your help.
Took delivery of a couple of HDX tablets today. I got a chance to try a "Replace Kingroot with SuperSU script" I modded for the HDX. The script was taken from supertools which also used chainfires root.sh script.
Anyway it seems to have worked perfect, I've two HDX on 4.5.5.2 with SuperSU on them instead of Kingroot 4.8.2 which was used in the script. That kingroot version rooted on the 2nd attempt on both tablets, both factory reset and unregistered.
Files attached feel free to modify as required.
