Today i have found a serious Issue with Pin.
normaly i open my device with fingerprint and i dont use pin to unlock...
Today, my device wont open with fingerprint and after enter my set pin, i get wrong pin... after a reboot i can unlock with fingerprint again.
I have googled a long time and have found a solution... I had to delete /data/system both. key file. After a reboot, Pin has reset and i can set a new pin... My fingerprintsetting was untouched and not deleted. After this pin work normally
have any the same issue?
i use a H850 with Stock 10c, rooted, Twrp, Hybrid Theme and Xposed...

I had this!
There is a way to fix this. But I warn you, it will drive you nuts before you finally get it.
1. Log into android device manager in a browser.
2. Locate your phone and change the pin (There is an option for this, allows you to put a message on screen too)
3. Log into your phone with the new pin
Now this only allows you to pull this off once. So if you get locked out do this.
1. Put the pin in wrong a few times
2. Wait...
3. When it gives you a "forgot pin" option, hit it.
4. Log in with your google account.
And there you go! Took me 4 hours of flash and reflash and much swearing before I got this right. Hope this helps
i had no chance with Android Device Manager...
i just delete the 2 .key files in /data/system and after reboot i can set a new PIN, Pattern or Password. All other will untouched.
after this, all work fine. required is root for this

i want just know if any had the same issue in Stock
Gesendet von meinem LG-H850
today i had restore my TWRP Backup and now i had the same issue as in the startpost.... (had before wiped all and install a Custom rom) so i think the Backup dont restore the securityinformation...
after delete the *key files and setting the pin new after reboot, all is fine...
so when any test a custom Rom and restore your twrp backup... delete in data/system both *key files... reboot and set your pattern/pin/passwort new..
your fingerprints if you had set will untouched after deleting the both *key files

My new xiaomi redmi note 2 forces to sign in to an account on first start, skipping this dialog is not possible. On the display there is displayed:
Thank you!
Thank you for helping make MIUI better!
I can type an Username (number-keyboard) and a Password. There is one Button to validate. Does anybody know how to skip this or which account is required to login (and how a login works since my sim card is locked and wifi is not enabled)?
Thank you

Sorry, can anybody move it to MIUI discussion?

yes, I deleted the updater.apk.
I still can use Mipad 2 because of the setting menu and using my own launcher. haven't tested the system launcher.
Anyway, how do I get rid of this welcome/thanks page/windows when starting device?? I have root so I could butcher some moe system apk's if I have to do it... Do you know the answer?
Luckily I had backup and it is working now. Just fix permission also to wrx-rx-rx
I'm a new MIUI user, and I just encountered this screen after my first OTA update ever. I use a MIUI 8 Global Developer ROM on a Xiaomi Mi 5 (with Unlocked Bootloader).
One way I found to avoid this screen, is by removing the SIM card and rebooting. I re-insert the SIM after MIUI has booted properly.
I don't think that's very good for the phone (or the SIM). That's just a temporary solution, until I manage to figure out what's going on...
if have root n twrp then
from twrp recovery>mount>system..then advanced>file manager>system>priv-app>miuikeyguard.apk>delete.. it worked for me.
i also removed provision.apk from the same folder.. so no startup screens.. directly takes u to the launcher
HAD A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT ROM!?
BRICKED YOUR PHONE AND TRIED TO RESTORE.?
SOMEHOW WENT TO RECOVERY AND RESTORED EVERYTHING.!?
HOPED EVERYTHING TO BE FINE BUT BOOM. WHATthe**** CANT UNLOCK YOUR PHONE. SAYS WRONG PIN EVERY TIME. CANT USE FINGERPRINT ALSO. HARD LUCK.!?
Generally this problems occurs because you had done your backup after setting up the pin or fingerprint or pattern.
TWRP otherwise restores everything superfine with every app and data and settings restored but sometimes when rebooted users can't unlock there phone with pin or pattern and can't even use their fingerprints. Common bug of restoring pattern of TWRP.
THOUGH its recommended that do your backup whithout any screen lock. And while restoring uncheck 'cache' and recovery.
BUT THERE'S A 100% WORKING FIX FOR THIS ::
1. TRY 3 TO 4 TIMES THE PIN AND FINGERPRINT. IF DOESNT UNLOCKS REBOOT ONCE AND THEN TRY.
2. IF THAT FAILS. 'POWER OFF' YOUR PHONE.
BOOT TO TWRP RECOVERY. (Pressing power button and volume up button at once)
3. IF PROMPTED ALLOW MODIFICATIONS.
DONT DO ANYTHING. GO STRAIGHT TO ADVANCED.
4. NOW HEAD TO FILE MANAGER.
(normally opened in the main folder '/', if not select storage internal). HEAD TO '/data/system' folder. Scroll down.
5. FIND FILES WITH .key EXTENSIONS AND CLICK ON THEN (generally two files). AND 'DELETE' THEM.
6. NOW FIND AND DELETE ALL FILES WITH KEYWORD 'locksettings'
AFTER DELETING. JUST REBOOT TO SYSTEM.
NOW YOU COULD BE ABLE TO UNLOCK YOUR PHONE WITHOUT any PIN or PATTERN or FINGERPRINT.
just SWIPE UP. Phone got restored to original state.
NOW SET UP FINGERPRINT AND NEW PIN IN THE SETTINGS.
* for me while setting up new pin and FINGERPRINT. The settings apps stopped closed suddenly. I opened it again and i found fingerprint and lock already set up.
Locked the screen and unlocked with my old pin and fingerprint.
DO GIVE A THUMBS UP IF YOU FOUND THE POST HELPFUL...!!!!!!!
Thanks
Or flash AgniToolbox from Recovery and select the option to reset the lock.
or, flash mandatory firmware depends on rom you've restored (cm13 or cm14 firmware)
this tricks worked for me, whenever im restoring my full backup of RR MM and then i flash CM 13 firmware
locksettings.db is the only file you need to delete.
This happens to me with every backup, even i set up the pin a long time before backup.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks brother , you saved my day (Y)

@sarabeshsab i think your phone is encrypted (MIUI encrypt by defaul /DATA and /internalSD) . NitrogenOS not support encryption (maybe in lasted build yes), you need to format data button on TWRP, this erase all DATA and Internal SD and disable partition encryption, (make backup to PC first, pictures and docs, etc). Now you be able to install NOS 8.
thank you works 10000000000000%
I followed this guide 'cause when I've restored a twrp backup my fingerprints didn't work (PIN did).
Removed them, added again, but not working.
Following this guide, deleting all these files didn't work.
Removing instead locksettings.db only*worked!
Hi Everyone!
I am running latest version of Resurrection Remix (7.1.2) on my HTC One M8 and somehow, the Pattern unlock Sequence i have set during Boot (using it since Months!) has changed to a Password entry Box without any reasons.
I have never set any Password or PIN for the Device, so i have been locked out.
Just to make sure, i have also tried any PIN and Password that i could remember.
Disc Encryption is active , but i can access System and SD Partitions in TWRP without entering a Pattern/PIN.
I have read some Guides wich describe how to delete pass and pattern key-files to bypass the Boot Security, but without success yet. Any Ideas, what might have changed the Pattern Protection and how to revert it?
Thanks in advance!

Google Account is safe and definitely not hacked.
Secured by 2-step-authentication and i still have access to it. there is also nothing wrong in phone management there. already checked this.
And to get this straight, the device is not auto locked as you may from device management in your google account.
Disc has been encrypted and a pattern has been set for decryption. this pattern has changed to Password entry.
same password entry that you have when encrypting with a password.
i had this behaviour before on some older cm versions on my samsung i9305...
i have started creating a current backup and will restart everything from scratch.
seems more like an error in android, than <<s,h,i,t>>
all hail to titanium backup!
thanks anyways.

OK, this bug is reproducable.
i have tested it twice.
- clean install from scratch
- disc encryption
- creating a nandroid backup
- reboot afterwards
-> pattern set before is not available, but a password prompt asking for a password that i had never set.
System details:
Phone 1:
HTC One M8
resurrection remix ROM 5.8.5
TWRP Recovery Version 3.1.1-0
Phone 2:
Google Nexus 5
resurrection remix ROM 5.8.5

Anyone else? :/
EDIT:
This does ot happen, if i don't create a nandroid backup. seems linked somehow ...
Hey Guys.
I am using and modding my android devices since the legendary Dream device. Yesterday I wanted to change the current rom on my Xiaomi Mi6 but some roms didn't work. I got tired of trying around and to encrypt the phone every time i am in recovery menu, so I installed the rom i used before and which worked, went to security settings, disabled my pin protection and started flashing again. Then i noticed, that every rom hang up at the "configure your fingerprint" setting. It kept asking me to "re-enter your pin. Enter your device pin to continue". I have used the same screen pin for years but the device keeps saying, that I use the wrong pin.
How can I change my current pin? Is there a google pin which it keeps asking for? Am i mixing any pins up?
Do i have to "fastboot format userdata" to solve this issue?
solved - the only way was to wipe, install rom, then without starting the rom boot into fastboot and delete all personal data with "fastboot format userdata".

I have no words to express my huge thank you!
Boot To TWRP Recovery Then, head to Advanced > File Manager, and go to the /data/system folder. Scroll down and find the two files with the .key extension. Delete both of them (by tapping on the file and then tapping the “Delete” button). Then, delete all the files containing the word locksettings.
Ex. locksettings.db
And REBOOT .......
enjoy.
Hope your issue solved
If your getting a promt to re-enter your pin even before setting up one? Try this method, it may fix the problem. I was having the same issue after flashing an new ROM or restoring a TWRP backup.
How to fix
Using a root explorer go to root\data\system folder( if it asks for password during setup then do the same using TWRP file manager)
Then find "locksettings.db" and rename it to "locksettings.db.old" .
This should stop confilcs of you old ROM password which confuses it in thinking that there is a pin setup.
Android will automatically creat a new file "locksettings.db" after reboot and you should be good to go
This worked for me, if it helps you please thank the post!

You're a life saver! This has been plaguing me for weeks (and many wipes and restores)
I do have this 2nd weird problem though, after I set a new pin/pattern. If you leave the device locked too long, when you enter the pin/pattern it resets the screen and brings you back to lock screen. Not sure how to fix this one yet!
