Here are some great alternatives to netflix for your touchpad.
Hulu , works great but you may need to patch your browser to make it work.
epctv.com , watch live online tv, I watch CNN live on here.
crackle.com , they have a big selection of movies. Its not netflix but hay its free.
zinc.tv , you really should check this out. Online media center for your touchpad. Watch all kinds of shows for free with a great interface.
Epixhd.com - Great alternative to Netflix.
some of these sites may not work with ad blocker installed.
if anyone can think of others, please share.
tv.blinkx.com
and
sidereel.com
they host LINKS to sites that host the episodes so as far as I know (I could easily be wrong) it's legal.
If you have a hbo subscription wwwhbogo.com.
EPIXHD.COM works great on the TP. Just watched The Captains on it in HD.
thanks for the links!

This is a GREAT list!
Any idea how someone would be able to watch/listen to NFL games on the touchpad, or even at all? We recently moved 2 states away and won't be able to follow our local team.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably using espn online since it's flash.
Also, al jazeera english has a live tv stream for news on youtube.com
"wwitv.com" EXACTLY like that. Its a crappy site but a great way to watch live broadcasts. I'm watching Fox's live broadcast from NY right now. Decent framerate, always live.
there is also orb streaming for the touchpad - (http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/294298-orb-media-streaming-awesome.html)
I've use orb in the past with dishnetwork, works great.
im looking forward to netflix finishing their switch from silverlight to html5 video. they already did for chrome os. when everything is sorted out on it, itll be open to linux and the others soon, and hopefully we can watch it in the touchpads browser soon.
Is there a patch on Preware for adding Hulu support to the browser?
I use p2p4u.net lot of sports and local tv stations for America

the app video flood hd is really nice it has all the links you have listed and a lot more all wrapped up in a easy UI, and there is a Hulu fix in preware, for who want that.
If you're trying to add Hulu support, make sure you add these testing feeds to Preware.
Target Device: ALL
Name: webos-testing-all

Netflix is not currently available for WebOS devices. The forum at slickdeals suggests to reply to @Netflixhelps on Twitter and request an official release of the Netflix streaming app for WebOS.
Hulu is also not currently available for WebOS devices. There is a workaround I found posted, but that I personally have not tried. I will edit this post after I try it to let you know how it goes. Google "prewarewebosbuzz Hulu". First result.
You can stream video content from your PC to Touchpad by using Tversity. From slickdeals:
1. Install Tversity media server on your laptop/desktop.
2. After installation, add the files you want to view on the library tab. To add an avi file, go to Library, File system, Files and click add item on top.
3. Open cmd prompt on your computer, and type "ipconfig" There you should find your IP address. Note this down.
4.On your touchpad, open a web browser, then type in :41952/flashlib after your IP address. For example, h t t p : // 192.168.1.0 :41952/flashlib
There you should be able to browse your folders to find the video you are looking for. One problem is that you can't rewind/forward etc.
Again Slickdeals:
Amazon Video On Demand/Prime Videos works runs rather well. Audio holds up well but you might need to use the pop out function on the player over full screen to get it to fill the screen. It might lag when first starting it up but pausing and allowing it to buffer will allow it to self correct.

Greetings, my home internet is a 3G wireless card from a Sprint reseller because for the time being that's the only "decent" internet I can get. While I have an excellent signal (-54 dBm) the speed is often slow as dial-up which makes watching Netflix on my desktop or PS3 next to impossible.
I can use the Netflix app on my phone and hook the phone up to my TV to watch just fine, clearly Verizon has a better network attached to the tower than Sprint. But I would rather use PdaNet to watch on my Desktop. The problem with this is that, because of the way PdaNet works the Netflix web page tells me that my "computer" is not supported.
Would anyone happen to know a work-around?

Don't use pdanet, use a wireless tether method for now, search the market for barnacle widow tether, it will work fine, have been using it to watch netflix
Sent from my DROID X2
Thanks for the replies but sadly my desktop does not have a wireless card or dongle. I was hoping to use a wired solution. Does Barnacle offer a bluetooth mode that would support Netflix?

Hi all
I have an Archos G9 running stock ICS 4.0.4 (Android 4.0.3). I have installed the BBC iplalyer app and can watch videos from the BBC iplayer website so there is no problem with Flash etc.
The problem I have is when I launch the app it doesn't run the app instead it takes me to the BBC iplayer website(I cannot post the url) . This is not whatI want as you can not stream live tv from this site.
I have done the obvious, reinstalled the app, cleared internet cahes etc, even contacted the BBC, and of course seached the net.
So two questions; the first is can anyone use the app on an Archos G9 and if so what do I need to do.
It is very annoying as my 7 inch resistive tablet running Andoid 2.3 works fine with the app
Thanks in advance
Nothing you can do.
New version of iPlayer app coming soon; hopefully it will allow us to stream.
BTW I can stream from the site : have you installed their new Media Player plugin?

Hi
Thanks for rapid response
Yes I have the Media Player app too and I can watch programmes from the website so if I go to say yesterday and select "The Paradise" that was broadcast at 9.00pm it will play fine
What I cannot find on the mobile iplayer website is where to stream live TV shows, if you can do so could you explain how
Also, if you have the iplayer app, does it also take you to the mobile iplayer website
Thanks
Yes the iplayer app just opens my browser to the iplayer website so I uninstalled it and use a shortcut instead.
Sorry I didn't pay enough attention to the OP so missed your request for live streaming.
For streaming live TV; search Google Play for "filmon"
Use either 'Filmon online TV' or 'FilmonX'; I can't tell the difference between them.

Hi
Thanks for this, at least I am pleased it is not just me !!
I have installed Filmon onlineTV and it does just just I want, in fact as it does so many channels it is even better
Thanks again:good:
And I just installed the long-awaited new version of the iPlayer app :
Features include:
- Watch live TV
- Listen to live radio
- Watch or listen over Wi-Fi and 3G networks
- Scroll through and find Featured and Most Popular programmes
- Add programmes to your favourites and have them ready and waiting when a new episode or series is available
- Browse through the schedule for upcoming programmes
And yet for me, the app still only serves as a shortcut to bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer
Sad.
Yep I was disappointed as well - just got a 23" touchscreen running with a small android box (Minix Neo X5) to go in the kitchen to do all sorts.
BBC site claims they have issues with screens bigger than 7" (or I guess higher resolutions) that they hope to fix. Not sure what problems they are but maybe someday!!
Anyone know of a side load us in north America can download this. I would love to have this for top gear. Do you Need a BBC account?
Sent from my ARCHOS 80G9 using xda app-developers app
There's no point Steve, all this 'app' does on the G9 and G10 Archos is opens your browser at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/

Hi All,
And my apologies if this is the incorrect forum for this.
I have a minix and one of the main things I wanted this for was to use the livestream.com app to watch the rugby league whilst I live overseas. Just to be clear this is a legal stream and official app available in the play store.
When I load the app onto my box it all loads fine and I can get to the channels, when I then click on a stream to watch, it just loads a still and the spinning loading icon just sits there. livestream have not offered any help for this or any reasons why. So I am kind of on my own trying to troubleshoot this desperately.
Interestingly if I view the streams through the android browser it works fine, but if I use Chrome I get the same issue as the stream tries to open in MX player and just spins.
Just wondering if any of you smart cookies can help me try to figure this out and get some kind of workaround?
Cheers
Dan
