I am running CM of Lollipop without Gapps. I have been able to find substitutes for most google services. But location based apps wont work. I figured this is because they use google play services' location api instead of the AOSP's location service. Is there a way to change them to use the default location service or is there a perfect swap for google's services that can emulate google's location service for the apps to run.
Thanks

Hi
I do have a problem with Google play's Location.Since I'm in Us ,regardless of changes in location with my Gmail account it still works in Turkish...I changed the gmail account it works fine....Unfortunately all my stuff is on the previous Gmail account.
How do I have to change the location for Google play ?How do I have to change it into U.S?
Allow Google access to location services
Did you allow Google access to location services?
Whenever I travel overseas my homepage which is Google.co.xx
changes to the local country, and the play market get localized as well.
For example I don't have play books in my country but I do get it in the market in certain countries overseas.
It is all done automatically by Google without any specific action on my part, not on gmail or in play store.
I believe its all due to Google access to location services?
So I followed a guide to disable services/events, location in Google Play Services and Google Services Framework for the purpose pf improving battery life. However, it disabled my check in ability to Swarm, foursquare, and Facebook, but I can navigate in GMaps. Is there any way tp fix this?
Thanks!
How do I make apps like wechat use baidu maps instead of google maps, which don't work in China? Extremely frustrating and there seems to be no way to change which maps provider is used in Wechat and I can't get rid of google location services or uninstall google apps. Any ideas?
Try installing HomeSmack. It allows you to manage your default apps.
Try seeing on Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy > Location

Hi guys,
i try to keep my phone free from google apps but due to requirements of some apps this is not 100% possible. some apps require at least google maps framework. one does not need to install gapps for that. instead you can just copy 2 files to your system (https://sdgsystems.com/blog/installing-google-maps-framework-aosp-android).
i was wondering, if there is a similar possibility to install google location services. again, this is a requirement of some apps like geohash droid. if there is none, i am willing to install google play services, but can anyone explain to me what this software/app does? does it connect to google / phone home / whatever? do i have to register an gmail account in order to activate it?
Thnx
aeryn
Location Services Question. I have not flashed any gapps, however I have turned on location services high accuracy mode on my phone, with the latest crDroid. I just installed Uber app, and it says it cannot access my location, however I checked the app permissions and It does have permissions for location. Does this have anything to do with not having google services installed or is this related to something else entirely.
