Android Hacks - Android

Why is it that when downloading any apk from an unknown source (I do this for pro versions & apps not in Play Store) that those which are in Play Store I can't seem to update knowing that there is an update. In fact it won't show in the installed tab, you have to search the app and it won't say install (Open & Uninstall). I need to know how to make it possible to download pro apps for free but then update it and make it legit to the Play Store so that I can keep my apps up-to-date.

Really? If you want the pro version I've heard you can pay for it and they'll update the app for you.

I don't want to pay. That's the thing. Downloading off the net has free paid apps. But why can't I update those apps via play store

Try another android market like Aptoide

Because you didn't pay for it. Just because you have a paid app that you did not pay for on your phone, does not give you the right to download the legitimate copy from the play store. Either pay for the app or live with it.
It is against xda rules to discuss this. Read them!

Oh. But some crackers can do it I guess.

6. Do not post or request warez.

Google Play not detecing installed apps and not-updated apps

I was installing free apk's yesterday in CF-rooted Galaxy S3. Some I download directly from the Play Store in my device and some I get from the XDA forums (ike SuperSU), transfer it to the device and install the apk from there. With the first few programs, Google Play easily detects that it is INSTALLED but after I installed many programs it isn't able to detect them. Usually a status of "INSTALLED" is seen in Play Store or play.google.com (in the PC) for installed apps or games. But now there are some apps that aren't detected by it.
Also, the ones that are detected by google play but are non-updated (not latest version) have "INSTALLED" status instead of the usual "UPDATE".
What could be the issue here?

You can try using Market Doctor in Titanium Backup to see if it fixes it, otherwise they might not install with the right license for the Play Store in which case you generally have to keep getting them from where you get them, or buy from the market if you want it to update.
Market Doctor will only repair broken links, if it's not licensed to your account you can't do anything to update them with the store other than buying that way.

Ok. Well but why are the other apps detected properly even though I install them by their apk files?
BUMP!
Anyone? How can I use Market Doctor?
Try clear google play data in application manager 1st

You can use market doctor by using Titanium and looking throug it's operations (afaik you need the paid version)
Free apps can be linked to the market, paid apps cannot.

Well, for example Mobile Odin is a paid app in the Market but I can get it free here at XDA as others have mentioned. Before, when I installed it it was linked right away to the Market as "Installed".
Oh by the way, when I search ALL my apps at Google Play Store in the S3 (not in the PC) it detects them as "installed", no problem with that BUT when I go to "My Apps", some aren't listed there and there goes my problem?
Just tried using Market Doctor of Titanium Backup and it found 26 recoverable links. I then went to Google Play Store and downloaded a free app to "refresh" the my apps list but unfortunately this whole process didn't work. So what else can I do then?
Btw, even free apps that I sideloaded aren't showing in the my apps list but are shown as installed when I search them in the store.

[Q] Sharing free apps downloaded from play store

Hi!
I have a couple of devices (f.ex. Harmony Link from Logitech) which needs an Android app which is only available in the US play store.
I found a link however, which directed me directly to the app in Play Store, where I could download the app.
I've also downloaded it through the APK-extension in chrome with my user and ID.
If I now want to share this app (which is marked as "private" on the phone), will it contain any of my information?
I mean the APK which I got from play store after using the APK-extension.
Also - can I rename the APK-file without causing any installing issues?
The APK doesn't contain any personal information. Anything that the app stores is most likely in the relevant folder in /data.
You can call the APK whatever you like. The app information won't be changed if you do that, so it will still install with its correct name.
Thanks!
Will I be violating anything on this forum if I share a free app?
Better to ask an admin or heads of these website.
I think you can share as long as you keep the credits. But i am not sure about it.
Hope i helped .

Installing incompatible apps on rooted phone?

I want to play Real Racing 3 on my phone but I can't find a working .apk for 1.5.5 which has cloud save (some flashing that I do deletes my data and Titanium Backup doesn't work with it). I've been messing around with the build.prop but it won't allow me to download Real Racing 3. Even the XDA app thinks I'm on a Galaxy S3 but the play market is too smart for me! Has anyone been able to find a way around this issue?
And I'm running CM10.1 nightly. Haven't tried it on stock yet.

I truly apology . Will be careful in future . 100x thx for informing me
I understand how to use Google. Googling it is what led me to the app in the first place. I wanted to download the official app so I can update it without any hassle.

Problem with Freedom and Google Play

Hello Xda forums,
I have a problem, I want to buy free in app purchases with using freedom but I have learned that it wont work with Play store with 4.x.x versions.. Now I have recently updated my firmware and my "factory resetted" google play is already the version 4.0.27, so I cant use Freedom. I need a way to install Google Play 3.x.x to my device. I have tried downloading and simply installing 3.10.14 apk, but as you can guess, it didnt work since I already have an updated version. Installing an older firmware is not a choice.. Please help me?!!

Freedom.apk is a form of fraud and warez. It uses a faked credit card (the so called freedom card) to fake purchases from the playstore. Because it is a form of warez, it is agains xda rules: 6. (Q) What the hell is happening to the Play Store?

Why is Google allowing these applications into the play store?
On the Top New Apps section I've already found:
R**tube (Pornography)
Grooveshark (Removed from the play store already a long time ago as far as I know?)
Blackmart (Free paid apps)
Aptoide (Alternative market/free paid apps)
Facebook Hacker
YouTube Downloader (against YT TOS)

Not to mention this crap: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shinms0315.byp
Why would they ever allow something like that to be posted?

I imagine they'll get removed eventually, but would get removed sooner if people reported them. Shame you can't report apps from your browser - you have to use the app. I did report the bricking app though. That's just plain dumb, and unfortunately some people need protecting from themselves!
I see no point why we can't report apps like that from our browser. It's obviously malicious.

Obviously to destroy someone else's phone.
Well we can't do much and neither can Google as there are tons of new apps coming every day and many such malicious apps are bound to get past restrictions and be available for download.
