I was on CM13 nightly 08/08 and I received a download to update to 08/09 and I downloaded it, rebooted to twrp and I dirty flashed the zip. Then I noticed that flashing the rom changed my f2fs system partition into a ext4 so I wiped the system partition and changed it to f2fs again. Then I reflashed my stuff: first the new cm13 build, radon kernel and finally supersu. I rebooted, did the android is upgrading thing, and when i entered the phone a bunch of my apps disappeared from the launcher and apps started crashing (hangouts has stopped working, setup wizard has stopped working) which then I realized that I forgot to flash the gapps along with the newly wiped system. I rebooted back to twrp again, flashed the gapps and rebooted to system. This time, my launcher wouldn't even show up and it was nearly impossible to use the phone because of a constant play services has stopped and setup wizard has stopped. I managed to stop the constant messages by force closing setup wizard and play services but the second I pressed the home button to go to launcher the messages would appear again. Strangely, when I switched to guest mode the messages disappeared and I could use apps launcher and play store normally. I then went back to TWRP, wiped the system again and this time flashed the gapps along with the rom, kernel and super su and the phone still displayed these annoying messages, which make it impossible to use the phone. Is it possible to recover my phone without wiping it?
Anyone can help?
you need to flash gapps before you initially boot your phone, otherwise it behaves like yours. i dont know why but thats what i encountered once

each time i restore from TWRP, after phone boots system ui keeps crashing... I've tried everything I've found on this site... used stock rom & no name rom... only way to get phone working again is to do fresh install... why does this keep happening?...

I rooted my phone back in August. I made a backup of the rooted device. I have reset it numerous times. This time it will not work. I started without gapps the first time. I re-did the backup and did gapps but my phone is stuck on android is upgrading after it optimizes apps. I have Philz touch Clock work. I also have liquid smooth but it doesn't appear when I reboot. I have the liquid smooth file on my sd so i can install ls zip and then gapps and the phone will boot up so my phone is on on. The setup wizard fails and I cant access anything. I've tried different gapps 5.1 4.4.2(orignal one), 4.4.3 not compatible. I'm assuming i didn't brick it because it does start and go to myregular phone display.I don't know if something was updated with samsung which made my backup or gapps not work correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have wiped rom, davlik, cache, installed backup...same process install liquid smooth first. Ive done my backup without gapps and it starts but all apps fail because no gapps.
So i had cm13 and gapps working fine for a month then the other day google play services has stopped kept popping up i tried everything to fix it. delete cache, force stop, disable and go back to factory version. restarted tab. reflashed gapps nothing worked so i wiped my tab clean re flashed cm13 which worked then i reflash gapps and google play services has stop keeps popping up but now i go startup wizard has stopped also so my tab is unusable. i tryed 2 different nightly builds of cm13. 2 diff opengapps packages and another gapp pack yet nothing works. the same 2 messages keep coming back . and i wipe dalvik cache:silly:
I'm asking this because I have some strange problems with these ROM's but I think it's my mistake.
First rom that i tried was Ressurection Remix. Before that i was on Stock 7.1.2 EU Rom.
I've done these steps on Linux Fedora using fastboot
1. Enabled USB Debugging and OEM Unlock in Developer Menu in the phone
2. Unlocked Bootloader
3. Flashed latest TWRP for Moto Z
4. Booted into TWRP Recovery and connected phone with linux fedora via usb
5. Drag and drop RR-Rom and Gapps and Wiped Cache, Dalvik
6. Flashed RR and then Gapps
7. Wipe Cache Dalvik
8. Reboot
9. On the first boot i choose restore everything from cloud
After that the rr was running very well for 4 day, but suddenly i got some triangle icon on the taskbar (like some error).
It says that I have been logged out from google and i must login again. I tried that but nothing happens.
So i tried that with other rom (exilium os)
That was worse. On the first startup just at the lockscreen, it restarted itself. And that was it, it just keeps restarting every time.
So i tried to flash again RR, because i really like this rom.
After that on the first setup, it restarted itself couple of times.
Suddenly some errors starting to appear "google framework closed" "google .... gmail closed" and everything from google crashed.
So i tried flashing the same for the third time.
But this time in TWRP I went to Advanced Wipe, and wiped everything Data, system, internal storage.... everything except usb-otg.
Now the ROM is running really nice. I hope for the long time )
Did i make the mistake restoring everything from google cloud?
Because i had on some roms, 2 Calculator apps, 3 sms apps. (Maybe the leftover from other ROM, stock maybe).
I assume that I wiped simply everything except bootloader and recovery. Now is working fine. (I think)
I need help, I may have messed up my device, I am from an oreo rom (RR) and I tried to flash a pie rom , tried MSM extended and AOSP Extended. They both have the same problem when my phone first boots up.
* Data transfer tool keeps closing, well i can disable the app, but when i press start/begin on the pixel setup, the one setup of google, it force closes, then it opens again, and when i press start again, same thing happens.
Also, every time after I first boot a freshly flashed pie rom, and i go to twrp to wipe clean my phone, the data partition gets a problem, it says (invalid arguments) or something like that, it cant be mounted, and it has 0 bytes everything, it can be easily fixed by doing this:
*change filesystem of data to anything besides ext4
*change fs back to ext4
I think that it may be causing the apps to force close or something? It happens on first boot of my phone, when the rom sets up the phone for use, i could reproduce the problem by booting up my phone again.
Anyone know the cause of this problem? Am i flashing wrong? I am using latest twrp.
My flashing method:
Wipe cache, dalvik, data, system.
install rom + gapps
I will try to recover using my backup on twrp, wish me luck that it will work. I only backed up system data and cache i think maybe that wont work and im doomed so please help me
Nevermind, its fixed now, just used the MICRO variant of opengapps, for some reason, flashin MINI variant breaks my phone :/
