[Q] Redmi 3 pro, prerooted? - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, i'm new to xiaomi
i've just received my redmi 3 pro from amazon, it has italian language and it's prerooted with installed supersu. The rom is 100% stock.
Is it normal that it's prerooted? Can this cause any problem with OTA?
EDIT: just checked i've "MIUI 7.4 by ManhIT" v. 6.5.12, anyone else with this rom?

You should install MIUI 8 v6.8.4, unlock bootloader and then root it by SuperSU package. Anyway I think after OTA update you will not have root.

But it's MIUI 8 v6.8.4 stable or still in development?
'cause i don't want to install a system with few bugs

It's not officially stable, but for me it's working very good.

How to root Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon?

Hi, I just unlocked my bootloader. I am on MIUI 7.3.6.0 on Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon. Bootloader was unlocked officially.
I am completely new to Android scene (my first Android), so I have no idea what works how.
Where can I find an updating rooting guide to my phone with latest MIUI? Each step by step.
Also would be much more awesome if someone here who is experienced could guide me through the whole rooting process on Skype chat.
Please, thank you!

Backup you data by miui inbuild. Flashed a miui 7 cn dev rom. Goto security > root permision then you it will offer you to root the phone. Once rooted, used flashify to flash alka twrp: http://en.miui.com/thread-282773-1-1.html?mobile=2. By using alka twrp you can flashed any official rom and flashed superSU.zip once completed you new rom will be rooted by superSU. Else you can referred to flasher toolkit: http://en.miui.com/thread-296053-1-1.html. I personally used official cn dev rom, alka twrp, rooted by superSU and xposed v85(xposed-v85-sdk22-arm64-MIUI-edition-by-SolarWarez-20160609.zip). If you preferred multi languages the used alka twrp to flash latest global dev rom and superSU in on go. Done and enjoying.

looks like your rom are distributor version. It should be easier to flash TWRP via fastboot by press vol down + power button.

When i bought the phone the seller put a global rom on which automatically unlocked the phone.

what i did:
1. request official bootloader unlock (just in case its needed)
2. flash global dev rom with the official miui updater app on the phone (load the file from xiaomi)
3. unlock the bootloader with the official xiaomi unlocker tool
4. flash twrp image via fastboot commands
5. within twrp i flashed the twrp alka via flash -> image -> flash recovery partition
6. reboot into recovery to get to twrp alka
7. backup all the partition (in my case with official MM 6.0.1 MIUI relase i had to wipe all user data in twrp to get rid of phone encryption)
8. flash Supersu.zip in twrp alka
9. reboot, be patient and enjoy
I just received the Redmi Note 3 pro running the same Miui Global stable 8.0.1.0.0 and bootloader already unlocked. How do I know if it has been unlocked via official / non official way?
Do I have to install the official TWRP or not?
Is it possible to lock the bootloader again and the unlock it via official way?
I obviously don't want to brick my device!
Thank you.
8.0.1.0.0 is a vendor rom. Check the linked wiki on how to flash official rom (by EDL mode). If the seller unlocked the bootloader they more than likely did it unofficially.

hi guys got mi 8 pro but i didn't find any official source stating that there is a working TWRP for Mi 8 Pro, i can find threads only on standard Mi 8.
I'd like to try global beta roms on xiaomi.eu but need to unlock the bootloader tomorrow and install twrp....
what's the latest working updated twrp for mi 8 pro?
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...ible-global-rom-compatible.48432/#post-465148
tnx mate, he made two versions, stated to be one for custom roms and the other one with global roms support.
does the twrp version for global roms also work to instal developers custom xiaomi.eu roms? or for those one i'm forced to use the other version?
Twrep relatore After backup doesn t work, must reinstall rom ti get It run (without wiping) and screen block and fingerprint doesnt work After restore.
Did this happen with pther twrp version? Is this solveble with this twrp?
