Hello!
I am using SlimSaber - SlimLP which is a 5.1.1 ROM and I'm facing a single issue with it, I'm posting it here since the ROM's thread seems pretty dead, but it's still a great ROM.
I want to remove the 3-dot menu also called overflow buttons because I don't use the navigation bar. As you may know, we have physical buttons in our Galaxy S2s and those are more than enough for me.
Look at how much space it takes, it cuts almost everyone's names on my device when using the stock DPI (lcd density)

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The ROM looks like it has a built-in function to disable them but it doesn't work.
I have also tried adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the build.prop file but it didn't work.
You could say "well just make the LCD density lower by changing the DPI to 200 or something" Yeah but if you do that, games will lag because it thinks you have another screen size, I had that issue and it got solved by going back to the original DPI size. (in addition to all the problems changing DPI could entail).
And also, yeah, it's possible with nowadays' apps to remove them because if you install Samsung's official JB 4.1.2, you can use the actual whatsapp and everything without these 3 dots. Even with CM11 KitKat you can still use your device without those. What does lollipop need in order to get rid of them...
Any other ideas on how to remove that unnecessary button? Thanks in advance.

Hi, new member here.
After reading about the custom roms for quite a while I finally decided to move on from the official ICS 4.0.4 to try the latest. I successfully installed this one: [ROM] [JB 4.3.1] CM10.2/SGT7 for P4WIFI and P4 [20131116]
While it feels overall much more quick and better than ICS and has lots of more advanced settings that are pretty useful, there's one thing I was missing in the settings and I'm simply wondering if it's there and I just couldn't find it.
You see, I often use the tablet to view photos and videos/movies and all my other displays in my home are calibrated to the reference, and when using Samsung's version of ICS 4.0.4 there was a color setting in display settings looking like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
By default it was set to standard which gave the whole image an uncomfortable blue tint, but when set to movie it resembled my other displays enough for me to not go for some more advanced calibration method. In the custom rom the display is set to what would've been standard in the old settings.
So is this a feature only available in Samsung's UI or can I find it somewhere buried in the menus of the custom rom?
If it's not there, are there any advanced color settings apps that can't be found on google play that maybe works even better?
I'm off to try some of the settings apps until I get a reply. Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
I've tried lots of apps and stuff now and nothing can correct the picture like the old setting did.
If there's no way to implement this into the rom I guess I'm rolling back to ICS.
[Q] Help: Font size and UI issues
Hello everybody,
I own a Desay TS518 (a Chinese brand) phone which runs Android 2.3. I liked its physical keypad, so I bought it. However, the phone was designed especially for the old, so the fonts and UI elements were extremely big. This made me very uncomfortable and caused some applications to misbehave.

}
I have googled and tried two ways to change them to the right size, but (partly) failed.
Here is a datasheet of the phone:
Network mode: TD-SCDMA/GSM
Screen: 2.8 inch, 240x320
Camera: 0.3MP
OS: Android 2.3
CPU: 1.0GHz
RAM: 256MB
Battery: 1300mAh
Picture:
First, I tried the app ‘Spare Parts’.
It can adjust the font size, but the UI were still ugly. For example the BIG title bar……
And when the phone reboots, the fonts will become big again.
Then, I tried to modify the font file with a software called ‘Font Creator Program’, but the results were same. Only fonts became smaller.
I have also tried to increase the LCD density using some apps, but none of them works.
Additionally, I think maybe the manufacturer have modified things in /system/framework/ …… I know how to use tools such as baksmali and apktool, but don’t know what to modify……
Hope you'll help me. Sorry for my poor English…
Thank You.

It's too difficult for me to do that...
RTtP (Right to the point)
Download or start up your favorite build.prop editor. (ROM Toolbox is what I use)
After opening your build.prop editor, look for persist.splitwindow.support_all (located a little above the middle of the list)
It'll say False... So simply change it to True and then reboot.
Now test it out. You'll notice real quick why this setting isn't enabled... Not all apps have been scripted to support this feature yet. Feel free to post screen shots of apps that work nicely with this feature "unlocked".
Last thing: I am NOT responsible for any damages to your device. But if you have questions... Fire away.

That was the first mod that I did after rooting my Sprint LG G3 - I went to the Play store and download the pay version of "Multi Window Mod" for LG G3, and you can add only the apps that you want and organize them any way you want - more like my Galaxy S3 with "Multi Window Manager"
I have about 175 apps total so having them all in Multi Window Choice doing it via a Build Prop mod was to overwhelming for me. Yes, I do use that many apps (some more frequent than the others)
Check it out if if you have a lot of apps!
I'm very new to Android and my elderly mum has a N7105 unit. It used to run a very ancient 4.4.3 (I think), but after numerous days and sleepless nights (technology is not my forte) following XDA threads - many thanks to this site - and watching countless number of Youtube videos, I finally managed to successfully flash Lineage OS 14.1 onto it and root it and it runs without a problem.
My question is, can I change the notification pull down thingy (sorry, don't know what it's called) to have the exact same style as the stock Samsung one? She needs to change between WiFi and 4G, but is visually impaired, so the stock one, with the words "WiFi" and "Mobile Data" was very clear and self explanatory. She dislikes the new one as the icons are too "2D" and flat. Also needing to press another minute button on the top right hand corner just to enable 4G is too troublesome for her.
So is there an app or something that can restore the pull down notifications menu to be very close or exactly like the stock one used on N7105? I realize that may be too much to ask, so anything in the vicinity of the latter would be fine (ie. S4, S5, J series) as long as it's early to mid 2010s.
I've tried Material Noticebar and substratum but none restored it to the way it was. All she needs is for the notificaiton pull down to look and function like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Many thanks in advance.
Edit: I'm prepared to pay for any apps/themes if it comes that that. Just need the notification pull down to look and perform like the above.
So I recently acquired an LG K51s, because my old Sony broke due to water penetration.
One annoying thing I really dislike about the phone (apart from the rubbish skin LG uses), is the simple fact when I go into horizontal mode the phone cuts off part of the top screen to make it look seamless (because it has a hole-punch camera cutout).
Now I really don't mind the camera, provided I can use the 6.55" 20x9 720p screen. So I'd like to know, if there a way I can permanently disable it? I know Nova launcher and YouTube can somehow bypass it and use the whole screen.
Thanks in advance!

So this is kinda useless. But I'll keep trying nonetheless!
I suspect the problem is with com.android.systemui. I have managed to extract the APK and will be looking around to see if I can somehow disable a custom setting in System UI Tuner. If that doesn't work I may have to edit it manually and see if I can overwrite it, somehow...

Settings app giving me the stupid black bar (horizontal)
Same issue in Chrone as in the Settings app (horizontal)
But any app that plays videos (in my case it's YouTube) has the option to remove the black bars (horizontal)
Why is no one giving me ANY useful input?
I can even upload the 90mb systemui apk if, anyone has the knowledge and experience to go through it.
Mods, what the on earth is going on???
