How to hide an app behind another app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi fellas, I'd like to hide my Twitter app behind another app so let's say there's a calendar app but when you enter pass code it'll open Twitter. There's one called smart hide calculator but it freezes the app so can't see it at all. Any suggestions on that? I also don't want to see the Twitter results when I search from app drawer.
Cheers

Any help on this? Cheers

Me too. Would also like to see battery percentage on it too.
widgetlocker and executive assistant are 2 options for lockscreen. With widgetlocker you have to use widgets to show sms, emails etc and executive assistant has options to display such.
I reallly like executive assistant as it allows me to display all of this info in the lock screen, plus facebook feeds, twiter updates, RSS feeds, ect. Its very useful. I am using the free version and thinking about getting the paid as this is a great app. You can also use thir standard widget to get simular info on say your main screen as well.
Widgetlocker is a paid app (I think only $2) and you can customize your lockscreen with different widgets and whatnot. It cannot change how many colums or rows are on it, like LPP can on your homescreen. But it works to get basic info on your lockscreen. If you use something like SMS Unread widget, you can display missed calls or missed texts on your lockscreen.
The only challenge with Widgetlocker is that it doesn't work so well if you have your email set up through a corporate exchange server that requires a lock-screen PIN.
I haven't tried "executive assistant" but I think I will.
executive assistant works. Thanks all.
Battery level, email, SMS and more. I've only put the free one on my phone so far.
Doesn't appear to have a portrait mode, however. That is, if you care about a portrait mode.

[Q] A way to hide apps

Can someone please tell me a way of how to hide apps on a non-rooted Evo 3d and other phones? I have only seen apps that require root for this feature to be effective.
Thanks
You mean just from the app drawer? Or punch in a secret code in the dialer or something?

"Go launcher ex" allows you to hide apps from your app drawer, if that is what you are asking.
ADW does that too, open up the app drawer, hit menu and set up group.
App Locker II - Fake Crash is what I use. Instead of hiding the app it just mimics a stubborn app force closing all the time. Don't really have any apps that need securing more than that. That's the free version, the same developer makes more secure paid versions.
Audio manager. looks like an audio app but you can actually have the fake crash report show or also hid apps/pics/vids completely with root. That along with private sms box should secure your phone quite well from wandering eyes. Not that I know from experience or anything...
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

I like that a lot better than the one I've been using. For a free app, it has a ton of features. Thanks!
A way to hide apps
I am looking for something to use on a non-rooted phone. Something that can hide the app from the main menu listing.
Thanks
Another vote for GO Launcher Ex. I've tried the major launcher apps, and GO seems to work the best for me on my EVO 3D.

You don't need root to run Go Launcher, it does replace sense though. Just search the market for "Go Launcher" then open app drawer, press menu, then hide app. Long time user of Launcher Plus and am happy I made the switch.
Is there any way I can do this using Sense, without changing to another launcher?
Maybe you can try downloading Z4root and temporarily root your phone to use the other apps. Not sure if on reboot the apps will stay hidden or not though, but it might be worth a try because I think every other solution out there is going to require root.
There's an app by the same developer as App Lock II called Invisible Protector that looks like it may be what you're looking for. Doesn't say it needs root in the description, and has a free 3 day trial.
With 'Go Launcher' how do you unhide the app?

Looking for contact widget.

I would like to have a quick access shortcut from my homescreen to certain gmail group contacts. Clicking on the shortcut should bring up all my work contacts for example. It sounds simple enough but I can't for the life of me find an app our widget for this. Anyone have any suggestions.

I am using Photo Contacts Widget from the Market (free). I actually have this set up twice on my Photon, one for personal contacts and one for business contacts.

[Q] UCCW Issue: Apps listed for hotspot

Hey folks,
Just dropping by to see if anyone had a solution to this irritating problem I have encountered with UCCW. Basically, the list of apps that I can use for a hotspot is truncated, and missing critical apps like the phone app and the camera app. I haven't the faintest idea whether this is a problem inherent in UCCW, or if there is some kind of solution I could use to fix it... hoping someone here has some idea!!
Additionally: I am using Nova Prime as my launcher... any idea how to make the "launch app drawer" into a hotspot? (It also doesn't show up on the hotspot list.)
Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

Yeah, same issue here.
I found that you can use something like Desktop Visualizer to make a "ghost/invisible" widget to sit on top of UCCW as long as you have enabled widgets to overlap via your launcher (Nova/Apex/etc).
But yeah, no camera for me in UCCW lists, so I'll just use invisible widgets on top until UCCW fixes this.

Bump for visibility. I've got the same problem - can't remember having it before though, so maybe it's broken by a recent update?

Hey, Regarding the missing apps i never encountered this problem. But for the app drawer u just hv to choose shortcut. Then nova launcher from the list. A new list will open with all the shortcuts that nova launcher can offer appdrawer, recent apps and more. I will look for the missing app issue n get to u.
Hello,
I'm using Buzz Launcher and I'm having the same issue, I don't have the app drawer shortcut listed in the hotspot list. Anyone knows if it is possible? Thank you.
Why is it when I add a uccw widget to my home screen and then press on the widget the uccw app loads up..?

Turn ON "hotspod mode", then it wont launch the app. It will launch hotspots and/or make widget uneditable true click on homescreen. To turn it off, u have to go to app 1st then

1x1 Custom Widget

Hi, Im looking for a certain type of widget. It's simple enough but i cant find it.
It must be 1 x 1. I want to be able to add my own jpg image for the icon and i want to be able to open a app when i click it.
E.g. Have a picture of a camera, and open the camera app when i click it.
Anyone know if this exists?
Thanks

Ultimate custom widget (UCCW)?
you can just use a custom launcher that allows you to assign icons to apps and shortcuts
that is not a widget you want!
Most launchers allow you to add shortcuts to their home screens and then change the icon for it. Shortcuts can be apps, activities within apps, and so on.
Go LauncherEX is one such launcher that lets you change the image for home screen shortcuts.
