Hey folks,
i have a fresh flashed fire hd7 with downgrade to 4.5.3, root and twrp.
but i dont understand whats the next step to upgrade it to a new version with root.
i think i its better to use the amazon rom, because the actual CM hase some not working components like bluetooth, right?
is there a zip to flash 5.x.x to my firehd?

Hello everyone, My friend recently gave me his G Tablet to "update" it. I've read most of the guides and have a good idea on what needs to be done. I am currently on stock rom 1.1. I was just wondering before i backup my rom with NVFlash and install CWM, do i need to Root my device first ? I went through that gtablet for dummies site and it does not mention anything about rooting the tablet. I intend to install vegan tab 7.1.0. Does the rom come pre-rooted or will i need root the device first before running nvflash and installing cwm ?
Also im looking for a stable rom. Is vegan-tab stable enough or should i be looking at another rom? remember i am on bootloader 1.1
No need to root before installing a new Rom. The new rom will give you root access. Vegan seems to be a favorite for stability. Not sure if the most recent update has a version for the 1.1 bootloader though. This site will walk you through everything you need to know http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/

The boot loader issue had been debated at some length in the past.
Some dev (roebeet) pushed for development into 1.2 - some stayed with 1.1
Either way, there are some roms for both.
You should learn NV flash and try out a few and see what works for you.
HC flashback 10.3 is slick and nice.
Beasty/clem ultimate is very fast and stable.
On a side note, ICS is in development pending kernel work. It will be on a 1.2 BL base...fwiw
Hi everybody,
just unpacked my kindle hdx 7" and it has fireware 13.3.1.0
i have been reading a lot of threads and posts but still have some questions..
as soon as cm11 is completely stable and everything works i want to use it because of android 4.4 but as it might take some time till then i was thinking of getting the nexus rom first and switch later.
till now i just rooted some of my divices so im new to roms and want to have as less hassle as possible
right now i would need safestrap for the nexus rom but ggow was talking about TWRP compatibility with the next version so i think it would be best to wait and then get twrp because it is also necessary for cm11..
first of all i would root after this instruction
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665683 yes? and does it work with .3.1.0?
then for the current nexus rom i would need safstrap and 13.3.2.4 but how would i get 3.2.4?
does maybe someone have a link i couldnt find anything about it..
but if i want nexus rom >2.0.2 or cm11 i would just need twrp which i could install with no problems with my firmware?
did i miss any step?
sorry for the long text just dont want to brick my kindle
thanks!

Hey guys
I've been running 4.4.2 for like a freaking year (yeah I have), and I see everyone upgrading to Lollipop on their Note 3. When I go and check for an update, it says I've already installed the latest version.
I am running stock 4.4.2 with 3.4.0-1955971 kernel.
I could always just wipe it and install a ROM, but I don't want to lose my files, apps, etc. I see plenty of people who got the update through OTA (like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ting-lollipop-ota-update-sprint-note-t3076813 ).
How do I get the OTA update on my Note 3, so I don't have to wipe everything?
Thanks!
Update: I installed a stock ROM going through this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/finally-official-5-0-firmware-galaxy-t3029557
I am now on 5.0 stock, and all my apps are intact
Hi guys I have an AT&T HTC ONE M8 and it was rooted and running 4.4.4 and TWRP and then something happened to it which caused me to go RUU and restore the device and unroot it and everything. Then I was on 6.0 and rooted it with the HTC ONE M8 rootkit and flashed SuperSU and TWRP on it and currently its still running rooted 6.0 with TWRP, I don't like marshmallow and I want to downgrade to kitkat or lollipop. My bootloader is unlocked and I am S-ON! Please someone explain very thoroughly how I can downgrade as I am not 100% tech-savy as we speak.
Thank You Guys So Much!
You can simply TWRP flash a 5.0 based M8 ROM, or restore a 5.0 backup and it will work. I believe the same is also true for 4.4.4. But not 4.4.3, as it is not compatible with newer firmware (hboot, radio, etc.). And you need s-off to downgrade that firmware.
Be aware, whatever you think you are gaining from downgrading; you are losing by not having years of Android security updates (patches to vulnerabilities, etc.).
Thanks Mate! Can you redirect me to a 5.0 Rom?

Not specifically, no. You can search the ATT Dev section for 5.0 ROM as easily as I can. Or if you don't need or want an ATT based ROM, you can also look in the "international" Dev section: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development
Also, ROMs which have been updated (Android 6, 7) may or may not still have links to 5.0 versions.
Alternately (and probably easier to find) just restore a stock TWRP backup of a 5.0 ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
You don't need (or want) to restore the data partition, so it is essentially the same as flashing a ROM (although getting the files to the right location is a bit trickier). Also, no need to install stock recovery (as getting an OTA update is not what you want). Then root if desired.
First, I had a rooted G3. Never updated it. Now, I have an H830 (T-Moble) variant. I've been rooted since I bought the phone and have never updated because I don't know how to do it without losing root. I'm still on software version H83010d (Android 6.0.1).
From what I've gathered, I just download the .zip in here and install via TWRP and then flash superSU afterwards?
I'm not completely sure what the talk of modifying boot.img or removing recovery-from-boot.p...
My reason for updating is because I want to try the Fulmics ROM or any optimized ROM for that matter. I had one on my G3 and it ran so much better.
But then as a follow up question, is the update process the same from a ROM? Do you just flash an update over the Rom and then re-flash the ROM?
Any links or answers are appreciated so I can finally figure out how to update while retaining root on my devices.
