Rooting a s3 galaxy smartphone stuck on logo screen? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I would be really considerate if any one of you can help me with this, there have been some problems with my phone. I noticed that after using it for long hours and once the battery goes down to 20%, the screen would suddenly freeze and it would be impossible to try to turn it off or click on anything, so what i would do is leave it for some few seconds until it shuts by itself or try to take out the battery and then plug it into a charger and then it would work fine. So I didn't think that it was a serious problem but lately, the same thing happened and I took out the battery, then i tried to turn it on but it just stuck on the logo screen and it wouldn't turn on at all. Also, if i try to charge it, it would show a grey battery icon with a loading picture on it and it doesn't show the usual green battery loading, I tried taking off the battery for some time and put it back on but it's always the same problem. I also erased the cache on the recovery mode but it's always showing no sign of working. I've been wondering if I rooted my phone, would the data be erased? and is there any chance of it working afterwards or maybe I should try something else? and what is the best solution to try: rooting the phone or doing the factory reset? I don't want to loose data...
I'll be honestly so grateful if anyone can recommend me something because I tried looking everywhere for this problem but with no results.
By the way, my phone is samsung s3 gt i9300.
Thank you a lot in advance.
Best regards,

[Q] My phone kills batteries, What to do?

Hi guys,
My battery life was getting shorter and shorter. So, I decided to buy me a new battery. I tried the battery and my phone turned on with the green charging battery.
As I turned my phone on when it was filled 100%, my phone gets stuck at the beginning (black screen Samsung galaxy blabla with the yellow triangle)
I thought this was weird so I started it in recovery/download and this does work.
After choosing for reboot I got the omega rom loading GIF, and suddenly I got KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE.
I decided to try a battery from a friend (also Gt-i9100). This battery just worked in his phone so why shouldn't it work with mine.
As I tried it, I first got the message battery too low. But the battery was full in my friends phone. So I tried again, also stuck at the beginning screen.
To make it even more stupid: My friends phone wont boot either after I used his battery.
As I was really tired of this sh*, I decided to put my old stupid battery back in my phone so I could use it for +- 6 hours a charge.
Now my phone is stuck at the beginning with all the 3 batteries.
I tried to re-flash my omega rom, but it's still the same issue.
Is there something going on with my kernel? I thought I could erase the battery stats, but thats not a option in this CWM.
I'm really stressed, because like all of you, I need my phone every day.
Do you guys have any advice, tips or sollutions for my/our problem?
Searching and reading the topics that already discuss the points you made would be a start. :good:
Kill the phone, it's evil.
Regards.

Maybe there is something faulty with the battery inferace of the phone or maybe you're just unlucky. I don't understand why your friends phone wouldn't boot after you used the battery - that doesn't make any sense - but either way, I'd order a new battery from a reputable retailer, if it stops working again in a similar way then get the phone fixed/replaced.
My suspicion is that it's either a fault with the phone or that there is something you're not telling us. I can't see how the battery (hardware) could cause your ROM (software) not to work unless the link between the battery and phone is damaged, in which case you need to replace the phone.

shuts down, and showing no signal

Hello!
I have this problem with my s2.. I was browsing for my joy when suddenly the screen flashed couple times and my phone suddenly shut down (when battery was about 70%).
I already had this kind of problem but last time it was the battery (it swelled) but i replaced the battery and for a month or so everything was fine.
now with no warning it happened again!
I checked the battery its fine...
now when I boot my phone up it stays up for a minute or so and freeze or shutting down..
and also the signal icon shows that there's no signal!!
when its off and plugged to the charger its all fine looks like charging...
sometimes when it shows the samsung logo on boot I can see the the lights on the back button and menu button flickering and then shutting down.
I didnt download anything new in the past week..
did anyone here had this kind of problem? how can I fix it?
PLEASE help me I was at a job interview and they should call me today !! T_______T

ROM?Kernel?Did you try Factory reset or flashing stock ROM?
Are you using a genuine s2 battery or it's just a generic one?
It's a generic, isn't it?

I did hard reset, now running Samsung's original ROM and stock kernel..
the battery is original..
somehow everything is now fine.. but I don't think that this is a normal problem.. it really freaked me out today.. I wanna know if any one knows what its all about and how to prevent it from happening.. thank you very much

S3 4G wont start up

Hi guys im not sure where to post this so im just going to post it here. My s3 got stuck on the boot up samsung galaxy s3 screen so i pulled the battery out and restarted the phone and now it doesnt start up at all its stuck on this static screen i cant get to recover mode but i can get to download mode i was just wondering what the problem might be and if there is a way to fix the phone? I have attached a photo to show you what it looks like.
That's extremely odd. I've personally have had an issue with my old phone with the startup with it giving me a "Fail error", but I can suggest that when it does that, keep the battery out for 10-20 minutes to make sure it stays off. Then put it back in and turn on the phone and see what it does. If that doesn't work I suggest you just either send it in for a new phone or have someone look at it.
ive tried leaving the battery out overnight and still nothing could it be a corupt firmware issue because the phone was playing up before hand for a couple days where it would just freeze and would need to be turned off and on, so i did a full reset cleared everything through recovery mode.

[Q] Is my Galaxy S2 completely dead?

Hi, charging my Samsung Galaxy S2 in the car one day when I notice it had frozen on the lock screen. Tried turning it off but it just kept showing a frozen lock screen so I took the battery out, waited 5 minutes until I put it back in and tried to turn the device on.
Device wouldn't turn back on or display anything on the screen. I took the battery back out and left it for half an hour before putting the battery back into the device and leaving it on charge for an hour. Still no sign of any life in the device but it was heating up while on charge.
After searching hard for solutions I can't seem to understand what happened the phone..
Anyone have any ideas what happened the phone, how I could fix it or even if I could just get the photos from the internal phone storage? Would greatly appreciate any help!
Thanks, Dylan.
P.S. phone wasn't 'rooted' nor was there ever custom ROMs installed on it.
P.S.S. During my search for solutions I cam across people talking about changing/fixing the 'IC circuit' or something, anybody know anything about this?

This kind of failure is completely unpredictable and not related to any kind of rooting/unlocking/software tinkering.
The general rule of thumb is that if the phone freezed and refuses to boot up after one pulls the battery, and heats up while charging, it's likely that it's fried.
Given this, you could try to find the problem, but this would involve desoldering SMD components (like the charging circuitry, which could well be the culprit in this case), and other delicate stuff you don't really wanna mess around with.
I'd suggest trying to see if the battery is the problem, maybe using a friend''s one for a test, or if it fails, to leave the battery out of the phone for a night and see if it boots. If everything else fails, you have to go for a motherboard replacement.

dead mobile! need help please

I have s2 i9100 (international) working on dorimanX kernel and 4.4 AOSP NeatRom
yesterday i was using my device normaly, and it rebooted suddenly and stuck at samsung logo. i removed the battery and try to turn it on again many times but no change. i try to access recovery mode but i couldnt. I remove the battery and try again but now the screen is totally black. I removed the battery for a long time. and try to turn it on later but nothing the screen is still black and there is no sound or light at all. I noticed after pressing the power button the mobile is hot like it's working
Charge the phone for a bit.
If you can boot into Download mode, there's still a chance to save your phone.
there was no possibility since the screen was black
the motherboard was down. and i replace it with a new one. it's a bad thing that i lost my data :/
Yeah.....that's a classic symptom of a fried motherboard......no life on the screen and the device heating up when on charge......the chances of recovering data in cases like this are pretty much non existent.......
