I just bought an Android Radio from Pumpkin (Model RQ0264). So, I'm quite satisified with the device itself from technical point of view. The original radio app is also usable, but the user interface is a color mix and not really nice to see in my opinion. So I decided to change the skin because the radio app is used 95% of my time in the car and this is also the app which is visible at the start of the device.
Following improvements:
- The main information is now centered on the screen: Station name or frequence, Radio text and PTY information.
- Presets at the bottom
- Radio frequence search and selection at the top
This version is intented to be clean and not overloaded with useless features. So the modded version doesn't include the following features of the original app:
- No extra list for all stored programs (available in the original app right to the 6 round station buttons)
- No PTY list (Who is using this?)
- No circular frequence indicator, only the linear one. I don't see a reason to have double information.
This radio app should work on RK3188 models. To install this, you have to replace the original app. This is only possible on a rooted device or on a device with a modified custom ROM (e.g. Malaysk ROM).
For MTCB/MTCC devices there is a Bluetooth app from me in similar design available: MTCFlatBluetooth
Changes:
v1.00 (22.Aug 2016, stable, only MTCB/MTCC devices)
- works on both resolutions
v1.01 (20.Sep2016, MTCD, for test purposes)
- improved frequence bar
- seems to be working well so far, please report bugs because I don't own this kind of device
v1.02 (21.Sep2016, MTCB/MTCC, for test purposes)
- improved frequence bar
- stereo indicator added
- TP indicator (traffic program) added
- numberic input of frequences added (see screenshots)
- tested on 1024x600 device, needs to be tested on 800x480. I created one layout file for both resolutions to simplify further updates for all device types. You could see some differences in comparison to v1.00 - please check.
Hi.
First, sorry for my bad english
Thanks for your apk. It works on my new MTCC (not installed yet) head unit.
It's the only one i found on XDA that works well. Others do crash the launcher
My model :
S07
MTCC-KLD6-V2.91
1024x600
I have only one issu, which is not really a problem, it's about the freqency bar : i show only the fm 65-90Mhz instead 875-107 regardless the setting of the headunit.
Best regards.

Thanks for your feedback. I found the issue in my apk file and uploaded it now. Could you please test the updated version "2016-08-17 MTCFlatRadio.apk", if the problem with the frequence bar is solved now?
Hi,
Good job. the frequency bar issu is solved as you can see in the video.
https://youtu.be/hQVzHPDVpmE
But maybe you could take a look at the scrolling text : for the long line of text, the restart of the scrolling is not natural and "it stings a bit the eyes" (sorry, that's a french expression = that's a bit annoying).
But apart this little issu, your app is very nice as it is.
Best regards.

Thanks for the video. It seems that the radio text is updated several times and if it is so, the text is starting from the beginning and break the smooth scrolling. The only solution I have is to remove the scrolling. If the radio text is too long, the text will be wrapped to an additional line now.
Hi @pathfinder78
Really like the look of it but I don't have a head unit with that resolution
Any chance you could make this for 800x600 resolution?

Hi pathfinder78,
Thanks for your job on the mod.
Now, all works good for me.
Best regards.
Installed it last night. looks good, but all I get is static on all stations. I tried changing the frequency in the settings to both America 1 and 2 and nothing has changed.

What does it mean 'static on all stations'? Could you explain the problem more in detail, please? Is the frequency search not working (arrow button left and right) or can't you switch between different frequency bands?

no radio stations come in at all. just noise. as if there was no antenna attached to the radio. I can scan or manually select stations. I loaded the original radio app back and the stations are working again.

What kind of RK3188 device do you have? MTCB, MTCC or MTCD? If you have the last one, maybe the app is not working. Could you provide me your originally apk file or a link to a working ROM file of your device? I will have a look on it.

thanks
Can you guys post some links or pictures of your units and maybe links to any firmware you may have ? - It turns out that the MTCC units are actually MTCB headunits with renamed and updated MCUs meaning that the software is interchangeable.
Can a mod move this post to the MTCB/MTCC forums ?
Installed it in Malaysk Ver. 3 MTCB 5.11. Looks really nice. Sounds good. Thank you.

I extracted the Radio app from your ROM file and yepp, the radio app for MTCD models is not compatible with MTCB/MTCC models. I added this information to my description, but I can't update the layout of the radio app for MTCD models without to much time. Sorry to say this, but many thanks for your test and information that this is not working for your model.

You have 2 options:
- The easy one: Install Malaysk ROM for MTCB units http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcb-software-development/rom-malaysk-roms-lollipop-5-1-1-mtcb-t3394209
- The other one: Modify the Original ROM from Pumkin and remove the original radio app inside the ROM. After that you can install your own radio app and also the original again, if needed. This way I have done because the Malaysk ROM was running slow on my device. If I have time, I will provide a instruction for this - but there are out there many descriptions how to modify a ROM and specially a RK3188 ROM.

ROM Topaz Gold 5.5 - Please see post #289 for Change Log & download link.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's my ROM based on Mondilv's NATALY.
This is my final release as I dont think there will be any further updates on COM2 (21916).
Release 4.3.1 is to rectify the WMP skin and Facebook Online Album.
Why Special Edition? I released it to coincide with 10 October 2010; so it's 101010. But why am I releasing this before 10/10? Well, I cant wait to let you play with it over the week end
Features:
- RSS Hub on homescreen If you install CHT, the RSS Hub will be disabled from the homescreen. Landscape view not supported in most views due to the RSS Hub. You can still set your shortcut key for landscape view.
- Quick links on homescreen (4x4)
- Programs Tab 3x10 I would advise not to move around the Programs tab as it will freeze the device.
- People Tab with link to Facebook "Updates and Events"
- Messaging with "Secure box"
- Internet Tab tips: (Opera is not installed) If you want to have the quick links with their respective pages displayed graphically, ensure you add the links BEFORE installing Opera (mobile or Mini).
- The Agenda in Calendar tab will show multi-days appointments
- Stock tab I have included exchange rates instead.
- In Photos & Videos Tab you can view Facebook albums of your contacts
- Marketplace
- Facebook Tab (removed since its development is on-going still)
- Twitter Tab
- Swype - 2 versions released; 1 with and the other without Swype
- Footprints Tab. Footprints is hard-coded for the Leo camera. For Topaz you have to get gps photo and then save to Footprints tab separately.
- PP & fsreplxfilt.dll disabled
There are some glitches on the Settings screen which I cant remove. It's the last item "AGPS..." which leads to nowhere when clicked. Sorry for this. Also, the Operator name is not displayed on the home screen but on the Phone dialer screen instead. I use Dynamic Operator Name to display the charges.
CAUTION: ENSURE YOU HAVE UNLIMITED DATA PLAN FOR RSS HUB AND FACEBOOK
Thanks to Mondilv, Barin, Dark Forces Team, members of MobileUnderground.info, XDA-Developers forum, sh4d0w86, meltwater and many others.
CHANGE LOG - 09Dec10
- PP = 18mb as multi-tasking works better instead of PP0 - reduced from 22mb
- Two versions; one with and the other without Swype
- WMP & Facebook Online Album issues rectified.
- Added RSS Tab & Facebook Tab by meltwater (Thanks very much meltwater) (removed since its development is on-going still)
- MS Facebook NOT installed on purpose; I use XDAFacebook
- Dictionaries & Pocket RAR in separate cabs
Enjoy!
[25Apr11]: Download & Enjoy!
More screen capture!
Another reserved for later use

My today clock has white background, but I like the black one as shown on the first screen capture on the first post (#1).
How can I do to get the black?
Landscape view not supported in most views due to the RSS Hub. You can still set your shortcut key for landscape view.

camera has 3 MPX ( can you do something about it? or give me a cab that resolves this problem
Only issue found so far is 3MP res. for the camera, where has 5MP gone.
That said otherwise its fast and very stable, battery life is the best I've had bar none, on a full charge this morning, its currently showing 80% !!!, all ROMs to date are down to 40% or less.

Wooppsss! Let me investigate and revert. Anyway, I am reluctant to downgrade the camera package to previous version as this version supports Facebook friends album view.
I too noticed the battery lasts longer than usual.
Sorry for the camera issue. Please bear with me and thank you for reporting.
EDIT: Tested BSBTweaks, but didnt work.
Camera 5mp & Carrier Name on Homescreen
The camera now supports 5mp and Carrier Name is on the home screen.

It wasn't a bug but my mistake Changing build profile to the "ARM" solved the issue. So if anybody wanna try, just download xap from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kbf9734ih8hthp9/Quake_Debug_ARM.xap
(I can't test now 'cause Q&A took my WP8 developer's handset)
P.S. I can't find original pak's from Quake (also, they still protected by copyright) so I've added open source, non-original paks. May be, app will not work with these paks but you may replace 'em by original in the xap.
Nice!
I deployed it to my lumia and it looks like the original pak might be needed. Did you specify the map to be loaded? That could be it as well.
I attached a screenshot.
EDIT: I took a look at the autoexec.cfg in the xap and its blank. I'm trying to find a map name to enter now..
I replaced pak0 and pak1 and get to the main screen with a demo playing. Assume I just need to get a map name now.
Standard Quake 1 map names are: E1M1, E1M2 etc.
Try to add line: map e1m1 to autoexec.cfg

It seems to be the same. The only button I can find is what appears to be the left arrow. Added two screenshots if it helps.

When you press where the controls are, they don't do anything. I would expect them to work. The only spot on the screen where I can find something that works is on the Right arrow > But when I press the Right arrow, it acts like I press the Left arrow <
This leads me to believe the actual areas of the controls do not match up with the onscreen buttons.
OK, now I understand, thanks for explanation! Will try to find and fix that code...
Could you try now (re-download and re-deploy)?
P.S. I've already added "map e1m1" to autoexec.cfg
None of them work now. The previous spot that worked is no longer there either.
OK, will try another code later (I still not able to debug by myself ).
Please, try now.

Hi!
This is a very simple module: it forces all apps to use the 3 dots menu. I've created this because on CyanogenMod, for some reason, when i remap my menu button not all apps use the 3 dots menu. Some apps, like Titanium Backup, don't show any button at all, so i can't use the menu.
This module force that apps to show always the 3 dots menu, or a button to access it (Titanium shows an entire 'MENU' button).
No interface, just install and activate it.
Download link: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.robertogl.yesmenubutton
Source: https://github.com/robertoglxda/Force-3-dots-menu
Tested on Cyanogen 5.1.1.
Changelog:
18/08/2015
V1.0
- Initial release
P.S. This is not a problem of all devices, so use this only if you need it.
P.S.2 I've looked inside MenuBeGone for this code (another Xposed module). Thanks to @adi1133 for that!
Just a quick suggestion for future development: you could work on adding a simple interface and let users toggle between force 3 dots and hide it
Either way keep up your good work with Xposed modules :highfive:

Well, thanks
I don't know if that is possible: I mean, if you want to disable the 3 dots you can disable the module, but the hook I've done is performed during the boot (at least, I think) of the phone, so an option like that won't work with a system turned on. A possibility is to create a list of app for which the users want the 3 dots menu, but I don't have time to look at it at the moment...

What I meant was to let users choose if they want 3 dots always on (like it's now) or always off, both on a system wide basis
It could be a fair module improvement for its future if you'll have time, just my two cents
(I'm just speculating, no clue about what's possible, not really into Xposed development [emoji14] :angel

This would be easy, but the same result can be achieved disabling the module from Xposed Installer. I really appreciate the suggestions, but for now i think i'll keep the module as it is. Less code, less problems
Also, it is not useful to enable a module that does nothing. It would not be a problem, but it would not be nice
Update first post with github's link with source.
Not working
Unfortunately it doesn't work an a Sony Xperia Z3 dual (D6633) running Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons

Back moved to the right side, recent apps the other way.
No idea why.

This module is interesting to me because I'm a Nexus Player user. As discussed in other threads such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/help/3-dots-menu-t3067105 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...sed-supports-android-5-0-x86-devices-t3146150, Google removed the 3-dots menu from Android TV devices as of Android v5.1 and higher. It is a very frustrating change that adversely affects multiple apps and your kind of module is what I was hoping to see as a possible solution. I just installed and enabled your module, then rebooted the device but I'm disappointed to report that this module does not yet restore the 3-dots menu on apps that are installed on the Nexus Player. Some examples of affected apps are AdAway, Xposed Installed and ZArchiver. The Xposed log does not indicate any errors with your module but I'd be happy to do any testing that may be needed to get this module working on the Nexus Player. I cannot overstate how helpful it would be if you could restore this critical feature to many apps that are limited in functionality by Android v5.1 and higher on Android TV devices.
Nope, because that isn't an option anyway.
I mean, I prefer NavBar over this. So probably it's a NavBar failure.

Nope, because that isn't an option anyway.
I mean, I prefer NavBar over this. So probably it's a NavBar failure.

It's not an option, but the method this module hooks is here from android 4.x (maybe also 2.3), and it is the same on 5.x, so it should work. I don't know what NavBar does, so I can't say that there isn't an incompatibility. Or maybe Sony has changed a lot that...

Hello, Roberto, and thanks for the reply. I did inquire about this matter with the developer of GravityBox, @C3C076, not too long ago. What he suggested was for me to try the "force overflow menu button" option found in his app's miscellaneous tweaks menu. It did not work, unfortunately, but he did state that the feature was carried over from Android 4.x and was not tested on Lollipop. I don't know if you happen to live in a country where the Nexus Player is sold but if you require the hardware in order to develop for it, this STB can be purchased for less than $100 USD at a retailer such as Walmart.

Yes, that options doesn't work for me too on lollipop. I'll search something in next days.

I can see from your XDA profile that you live in Italy. Nexus Player should also be available in that country according to http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...nd-italy-norway-spain-sweden-and-switzerland/. I wish you the best of luck in solving this problem and am ready to help with any testing which you may require.
Just tried (uninstall NavBar). Than your app works.
Unfortunately I prefer NavBar over this handy add-on, so I will deinstall it.
But if definitely works an a Z3!
Sorry,didn't mean to be rude!

Well, this modules work on similar things, so an incompatibility is expected. I don't think I can't make it compatible, sorry...
Maybe you can play with NavBar options and see if something change.

Could you people post here the Xposed log with my module active?
Inviato dal mio GT-I9505 utilizzando Tapatalk
Here's a screenshot which contains a recent Xposed log from my Nexus Player. The reason why I cannot copy-and-paste the text is because the 3 dot menu which provides the "Save to SD card" option is missing.

Could you please try the apk attached? Also, post the Xposed log after installing this.
Okay, I installed the test1 version and rebooted my Nexus Player. The 3 dot menu is still not restored but there's a lengthy Xposed log this time. There's currently no way of saving the log file as a document or copying-and-pasting the text inside of it so I had to take screenshots of the entire log (page by page) which required 49 screenshots in total. If you extract the contents of the two zip files in to one directory, you'll see that the PNG files are named in sequence with their date and time stamps. I hope this helps.

Hi guys. Im sorry for the very slow development - very hard working on current projects.
Version 2.17
So, i've added a pull request from sr01 to add Spotify control, thanks a lot for him. And for now, google play music app works correctly with service.
Can anybody test the Spotify?
It does not work in my country and it is difficult for me to test it completely. Please, add to the public beta test https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.petrows.mtcservice and test it. Thank you!
Or you can get the apk version directly from https://petro.ws/s/mtc-service/
Just wanted to say I use your RK3066 app and I'm very pleased. Keep up the good work.
I kinda wish Google Voice would work in calling. 5.1.1 does a good job, just 4.4.4 has issues.
I will try what you have posted and make sure I have your greatest efforts. Will post results.
Dear @Petrows, is it possible to turn off visibility of the app in the status bar at the top of the screen, the bar that occurs when you swipe down from the top of the screen?
It is useful only once - a very long time to configure it and it shows all the time and takes the precious space that is needed for urgent notifications.
Is there a configuration file in which it can be changed?
Thanks in advance!
The notifyclean xposed module can help to clean up your notification area.

It is required by Android OS - application working in background must show notification - otherwise it can be killed by the memory cleanup. In modern android versions there are more ways to do this, but in 4.4 version there is the only one possible solution.
Thank you for the explanation, @Petrows!
@Petrows - first of all, thank you very much for the excellent work you do!
It seems like in 2.17 the volume control method changed, with every increase or decrease now, the native volume indicator pops-up - that's extremely annoying, especially when you need to look at the navigation, or when a video runs on the screen. It's true that the old method was not perfect, but at least it was less annoying - maybe you can look into that a bit?

Yes, this is a problem, seems to be added by patch https://github.com/petrows/RK3066-Headunit-service/commit/9abbfd1eb05a9eecba497b0f110aae28be205522
I will try to fix this soon.

Problem solved, good job sir!
Now, I've discovered another little bug, if you don't mind: If somebody enters a non-integer value in the speed steps field (I've tried 0.5), the app crashes. Continuously. The only way to make it work back is to clear all app data. I don't think you are going to have too many users trying to modify the volume steps in such way (ie: I don't think it's worth a separate release just to fix this), but you might note it for a future fix.
Thanks for the update! The volume bar thing I thought was a problem with my ROM rather than your app. A clean ROM with Google Play ripped out of it, Spotify, iGo and this service makes for a perfect car headunit ROM. Well done!
Call from Android App doesn't work
@Petrows
First of all: thanks for your great app, I've been using it for a while on my previous MTCB with A 4.4.4.
Switched to an MTCD with Android 5.1.1 a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately I have not been able to make a call from True Contact. "Call number" toast shows up, but nothing's happening, is there any way I can provide you some debug information to find the cause?
Just noticed after sending this off: your app isn't intended to work with Android 5 units, or did I miss something?

MTCB 4.4.4 I'm afraid.
@Petrows.
I´m a very big Fan of your Tool! I had used it for a long time for my RK3188 Headunit. Now I´m a PX5 User (Octacore, 2GB, Android 6.01) and i was a little bit shocked that your tool not work on the new platform. It starts but it does not change the volume on speed changings. Please create a version that runs for PX5 Systems. I would spend some money on a compatible version. Best regards!
Today I installed the app "Navigation Gestures" by XDA and it looks really beautiful on the phone.
I also used the app "Blank Icons" to create a blank space in the lower part of the home screen, so that I had nothing under the navigation pill. (See attached screenshot)
I think the app is worth a try!
EDIT: the navigation buttons disappear if you are on one of the stock themes; with other themes they remain visible underneath the bar.

Bar is there... but also the old dots...

Yes, it happens to me, too. I hope they will address this issue in the next releases!
UPDATE: with new beta version (1732) is possible to have gestures without the pill (OnePlus 6 style).
(To receive beta versions enter the telegram group linked in the related XDA article!)
Native gesture navigation works on Pie
Guys it has been achieved through ADB
https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...apps/pie-xperia-10-10-plus-launcher-t3905699/
But you have to use the XPERIA 10 launcher port or else the stock launcher will crash if you try going to recents menu.

Hi, I'm using the navigation gestures app with the oneplus preset on my stock sony Z5, but I'm facing an issue with the stock home launcher. I have an empty space between the dock and the bottom end of the screen (exactly where the navigation bar was). I tried all the compatibility and advanced settings in the app but makes no difference. How do you solve the issue?
p.s. no problem with other launchers.
Thank you

Hi! Actually I quit using xda's Navigation Gestures, and I'm currently on Fluid Navigation Gestures beta - thath I find more customizable.
With that said, I didn't have that problem with the first releases of the app (although I had a large space between the first row on the home screen and the dock, as you can see in the image in my previous post; that's present also in Fluid N. G.).
Try installing and old version of the app (they shold be still available on the Telegram group) and see how it works, maybe it's a bug introduced with latest releases and you can report it to the developers!
(Sorry if I couldn't be very helpful)

Hi, no worries and thank you anyway. Yesterday I installed a newer version of Xperia home (posted by someone here on xda) and it solved the issue.
I also gave a try to fluid navigation and it's properly good. I'll stay with it for a while to see if works better.
Thanks again for your feedback.
Hello everyone
I want to share simple trick, unfortunately requires root...
I love navigation gestures app it is so customizable!
Here are my setting which I liked most:
-Home like in Samsung gestures down swipe
-Recent app down, centered, hold
-Back right side of screen swipe
-Split screen down, left and swipe hold
-last app down, right and swipe hold
Ta-dah! now you have improved android 10 gestures (you decide if you wish have visible pill or not)
As you can see I have whole screen to use
What I have done is reachable in two ways:
-Install app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.conena.navigation.bar.remover
-Manual build.prop edition. Search line in build.prop located or vendor partition and edit it from
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
to
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Reboot
I'm not responsible if you corrupt your device, I'm just sharing what I did...
On xz1c with lineageos16 I used app
On XZ1 with lineageos16 I edited manuallymanuall if I'm wrong just correct me... I'm only a human

Have fun!
Edit: I flashed Sony apps enabler and installed apkmirror or play store Sony apps including home music album
Other advantage for editing qemu.hw.mainkeys is you got one more column on statusbar!
