Hello !
I m kinda stressed to have to bother you but I am kinda lost as what are the options for me with my current setup :
Model : Nubia 7z max
Model Number : NX505J
Nubia UI : v9.5.0
Android : 4.4.2
Kernel v : 3.4.0-perf-gca4a1a0
build number : NX505J_CNCommon_V9.29
hardware version : NX505JMB_A
I do have some knowledge about rooting/tweaking phones, i had much fun with my previous Xperia arc S but ressources are less abundant for the nubias. And since its a little niche, I have difficulties determining a course of action.
So the phone was prerooted by the vendor which explains the "weird" version v9.29 (while at the moment, official versions were like 1.42, something like that). It is indeed rooted. From what I understand, I can't do an OTA update. So...
of course, lots of rom : http://www.needrom.com/category/zte/serial-nubia/nubia-z7/
Question is : what should I do first ?
From what I gathered, sounds like something like : Install a custom recovery system (twrp ?) ? Install a stock rom ? Both ?
(bonus question : will I still be rooted ?)
i know there is risk with everything and well... if i brick it, i won't be too sad but it is still a good model and I like the dual sim capabilities. And regarding that, if by luck you are still reading this, the reason why I want to try an other rom is because i dont know why I lost the abilites to set settings in the dual sim settings interface : phone is still working but Data Network usage is forced on card 1... the one that can only do 3g and not 4g. I did a factory reset and it didn't change a thing.
Thanks for reading me, and pardon my noobness

Hi. Go to needrom and:
First you should install twrp recovery (I recommend all-in-one tool by tigreos), then install 1.64 to open path to upgrade, then merge partitions (I'm not sure but I think it is stock 2.13) and then there is plenty of possibilities:
- you can install stock android 5.1 - ROM 3.5 if I'm not mistaken
- or fine working CM12.1 / CM13 from paolothlw8
- or very promising Resurrection Remix build on android 6, build by pchatzop
Your first priority is getting a backup of your efs partitions. These are the modemst1 and modemst2 partitions and you can backup them with the app partition backup. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your imei with them. Then you have to upgrade to 3.22 version with the Nubia updater tool, to merge your partitions. Then you should install twrp with tigreos tool, which will give you the ability to install anything you want. Keep in mind that tigreos recovery works only after you have updated to official lollipop (merged partition table). If you want to install my rom, you can follow the rest of instructions in the respective thread. But keep in mind, always keep a backup of your imei partitions, that nubia updater tool is really finicky may cause you to completely lose your imei if you don't have a backup.

Hi all,
as you may know Nubia released a beta Android 5 version for the Z7Mini a few days ago.
cuoco92 already did his modification to this rom
his tutorial how to flash (because it is not CWM available) is here : https://www.dropbox.com/s/k17nv61auw3mig5/Guida_by_BB72_Android_L_Z7Mini-EN.pdf?dl=0
the rom is here :
https://yadi.sk/d/Kv5pd9RXfbhYU
the flashing tool for windows is here :
https://yadi.sk/d/sDX760x8faeFb
I didn't tried this rom, as the download speed from yadi.sk is almost as slow as chinese site :/
but if someone would be nice to provide a mirror I would be glad to test it
ps: as far as i understood, the Nubia Android 5 does a repartitionning, so BACKUP all data somewhere safe (sd card for ex) because it may be possible that ALL data get lost

It is true, all data WILL be lost. It is also strongly recommended that after you back up to your sd card (or computer) that you remove your sd card and sim card before doing the update. There have been some instances of people on the Chinese bbs that did not remove them and both sd card and sim got corrupted and needed to be replaced.
I managed to create an account on this russian service and now the speed was no more slow..
I tried to follow the tutorial, but unfortunately, the stupid chinese windows tool does not turn green
i have adb and fastboot working on windows
i have some adb drivers installed (i first through it is comming from there, so i installed other adb drivers but no result at all)
I also installed a 1.82 rom (found on needrom, it is 1.8 without some chinese apps and prerooted) first, but this also didn't change anything
so my two last guesses :
1: i need to install a stock 1.82 rom ... need to find a link :/
2: need to install stock recovery ? but this is marked as optional so ... don't know why i should do this
EDIT: ok i needed a stock rom and to install the adb driver that is on it virtual CD (the one that appears the first time you put the phone on usb )
Can you please reupload this rom to some more reasonable site? Waiting 27 hours is too long and its impossible for me to regiter there, I tried....
sorry can't upload this right now (it would be nearly 1 GB file to include all stuff (cuoco92 700Mb rom, + TWRP as the preinstalled version was not preinstalled on my mobile, + setup tool + pdf document)
i was not able to register on yandex website, but with the mobile app there where no russian caracters or errors ...
even if i was not hot installing this kind of stuff on my mobile

Hi!
I´m having troubles with cuoco´s Lollipop (Rom Z7.NX507J.2.65)
As soon as the phone goes to lockscreen for more then 10 seconds it crashes and I have to reboot the phone, is there any fix or will I have to downgrade it to kitkat again?

I've been using Cuoco's rom now for well over a week without issues? Perhaps it was a bad install & you may need to reinstall is all I can suggest? I first installed the Nubia stock rom & then Cuoco's. Not sure if this made a difference however all has been good. Overall I'm quite impressed, not really any noticeable bugs (for me) & his mod's have tidied up a few things

I used that rom from Needrom (Pre-rooted 1.82. It was stock with bloatware removed only) as I was on CM12 & I was able to then install the Nubia Lollipop over the top. I think it was more to do with having the correct drivers installed & a version of 1.82. The recovery didn't matter as I still had TWRP before the update. I then installed Cuoco's over the top of that without any issues.
Good day to everyone reading this
I spend long time reading this forum before posting, tried a number of ROM, modem updates, but it seems that I cannot make 100% work my Lenovo without your help.
I have brand new Lenovo P780 with problems after flashing ROMs. On battery there are Chineese letters, so I assume I have China version, 4GB.
I've tried around 10 different ROMs. Stock versions, custom ones from getrom webpage, in desparation I tried some russian with the same result.
When I flash to 4.2.X android phone works just fine, I can make calls, GPS works. But I cannot use my camera. Supercamera app stops, flash also is not working. On some ROM I was able to use frontcam, still flash and backcam were not working. Installing different camera apps is not helping.
When I flash to 4.4.X android camera works great, but I don't have network coverage (in most of the ROM ver.). On some of the ROMs in 4.4.X ver. after the reboot SIM cards are active, but after making 2-3 calls they don't have coverage. After next reboot result is the same. Interestingly network are crashing after I use second SIM, if I use only SIM 1 (the one with Internet) coverage works for longer time. After the network crash I cannot use Internet or make calls from any of the SIM until next reboot. There are some frequency issues in Europe, I will be using it in Poland, but I don't get how the phone can work normally on 4.2.X and on 4.4.X frequencies don't match?
I've spend most of my efforts updating (flashing) new ROMs and checking if network problems will be fixed on 4.4.X. When that didn't help I was applying different radios/modems through recovery tools TWRP and CWM but none of the radios I've tried worked (and I tried lots of them). Strangely I discovered that even when I get to install new modem (I got confirmation that all is OK in recovery, install from zip file) broadband version in system information is not changing.
What I will need fro you guys (or girls ) is to advise on the ROM on which I can both make calls and photos from back camera. I really don't care what version of Android will it be, as long as it will work as a phone...
Other solution would be how to update camera firmware on 4.2.X or how to properly update modem on 4.4.X (and what version).
I went already through all the stages of the device - soft brick, hard brick, hard brick not recognized by the PC, so I', not afraid of trying something new.
One thing that may be not 100% clear for me is different versions of the phone, I needed to switch to 2014 bootloader in order to flash some of the ROMs, maybe that's why ROMs were not working for me.
Thank you in advance for any hints!

Hi Stympy,
I saw your post already and tried some of the modems that you uploaded there, surely not all tho..
Before going blindly into the dark let me clarify couple of things:
1) I have China version of my p780 if I have Chinese letters on my battery, yes?
2) I should use China modem or Europa modem for China version of p780 that is to be used in Europe?
3) When I update new modem should the "Baseband Version" change? (in System Settings ↦ Software Information ↦ About Phone at section Baseband Version )
4) If the "Baseband Version" didn't change does it mean that modem was not updated? I'm asking because I got confirmations that zip file were processed normally, but Baseband Version didn't change. Phone also didn't have range afterwards.

1. Lets be clear for the beginning! ALL this phones are made in china!
2. You could install any modem you wish! It depends on your GSM provider. It is true that this modem software is modifyng baseband on your phone! You could see that with MobileUncle Tool if your phone is rooted!
3. Yes.
4. No. The modem software is not installed properly. You probably installed the wrong version of android modem software. Example: JellyBean modem over KitKat firmware.

Hey!
I've managed to force my phone to make calls! I couldn't change my modem due to wrong recovery.
I couldn't change modem before. The problem was with my recovery. When I swapped to recovery_cwm_kk_mod_P780 modem was changed and my phone started to ring, I used kitkat modem europa V52.
Thanks for great work on the forum! Issue is solved so quickly that I'm really amazed!

Sooo... You dont have any custom trecovery installed.
Go to my post Rooting tutorial for KitKat, read the tutorial, download recovery for Baralajbi firmware and install custom recovery.
Or install MobileUncle Tool, give app root rights download the recovery from my post unzip, put it on the root internal partition, , start MobileUncle Tool, go to recovery option and install the first recovery that appears there.
Good luck.

thanx stympy.
my mobile had bicked again today. so this time i flashed it with the original 4.2 version. ie P780_ROW_S123_131231_rooted_twrp_gapps by baralajbi
now 2g is also available.
in this i checked the band mode. here in UTMS mode WCDMA-IMT-2000 and WCDMA-GSM-900 both are enabled. so i guess there lies the catch.
if it bricks once more then i will try out ur recommendation also and thanx for educating me
Hi y’all,
Firstly, I’m a newbie. I did some forum reading / reviewing before posting this and I hope I’m posting to correct section (take it easy on newbie ). So anyways, my question is as follows:
I have a N910CQ purchased from Turkey (currently running android 5.1.1). I want to root it but keep stock ROM for two reasons: 1) I am used to touchwiz based stock ROM and I am generally satisfied with it except the bloat ware, and 2) I want to run Cerberus on it... and actually 3) all roms I came by have certain features missing (i.e. camera / pen / fingerprint sensor does not work etc).
But after doing much research (and trial and error for the last 2 days), it seems it is not possible to root a N910CQ device running 5.1.1 android and keep stock rom on it. You can either: 1) root it and flash a 5.0.1 stock rom (and when you later try to upgrade to 5.1.1 you’ll get an error message basically telling you that unauthorized modification was made to OS and therefore you’re no longer entitled to OTA upgrade) OR 2) you’ll have to flash a 5.1.1 rom other than stock rom (such as Team Eos Rom – which has many flaws). But, so far, it seems impossible to root N910CQ and flash 5.1.1 rom.
Do any of you have any recommendations? Thank you.
anybody? any clue???
It looks like your best option would be to install TWRP recovery and use it to flash a custom kernel that auto roots your device such as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/n910c-kernel-5-1-1-stock-tw-permissive-t3206548 The important thing to note is your Build Number as there are many different builds of 5.1.1. You want to make sure the kernel supports the specific build you have installed otherwise you'll soft brick and need to recover either with a nandroid backup or via Odin and the full firmware/OS tar file. Use TWRP to make the nandroid backup before installing any mod so you can easily restore if you run into issues.

I did this (except I flashed using Odin) and it totally worked. Thank you!

Just for the record though: this kernel triggered "Security Notice Unauthorized Actions Error" and so I had to change it. I'm using SpaceX now, no errors, works smoothly: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347823851
Cool. I prefer TWRP so I can make backups in case something goes wrong, but whatever works.
Hey All!
Ill post a "little" thread how to bring new life back to your aging phone- respectively L50U.
Note. This is for Advanced users- Novice users can and will brick their phones at one time. I hard bricked my phone 7x times!!! before i got all information how to do it!
History:
To those who don't know- L50u was specifically released to China Market only with Ferrari and Carbon covers. If you happened to be at launch in China you could have gotten a 50% off promotion deal of the price as in Europe this thing D6503 was around 900 euro at launch. 1 thing though- L50u at first was China(region) locked. The international ROM came long after that(afaik could be wrong)
Also as these phones are kinda* rare in Europe its mostly neglected in "posts" and "how to guides" here.
Kudos to @Pitzmans https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776842 for his post. That was one of the first threads i read when i got back home in Europe.
- - - - - - -
Unfortunately to access original D6503 Roms from Flashtool you have to convert your phone. The thread i followed back then- seems like it doesn't exist anymore. If there are other posts post below.
I'll tell you how to do that now:
We will use a hack found on Vietnamese site to convert (D6502,L50u,L50t,SO-03F) to D6503 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
(https://congdongsony.wordpress.com/2015/03/18/root-sony-xperia-z2-d6503-android-5-0-2-lolipop/)
Basically its a custom ROM with integrated hack and other goodies. You can translate the page using chrome no problem.
After following the instructions there (semi-user friendly) the end result is a converted L50u with D6503 and up to 3G baseband.
If you are okey at this time and age with a working Lolipop and 1-3G capability- you are good to go!
- - - - - - -
However now you can use Xperia flashing tool to safely upgrade or downgrade to KitKat (4.4.2) or Marshmallow (6.0.1)
Note! Sony Companion will show L50u error upon its recovery- so forget about using it. In all other cases it will show D6503 genuine.
I would recommend to downgrade to 4.4.2 as there are lots of root options.
Most popular is EasyRootTool v12.4. (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952593374)
However if this is Launch phone you can use rootkitXperia_20140719 (https://gist.github.com/neneppy/7c0b2eac6085684bc33b2d9087d57627)
- no problems there.
After you have root you need dual recovery! Ive tried couple and maybe its the L50u but most success i had was with
Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.2-RELEASE.installer
for this phone it just works. (link below). I think it was rewritten specifically for L50u- found on Chinese site. Don't get European version as it may result in bootloop.
- - - - - - -
Now before Carbon there are some things you need to do:
* backup DRM keys using Backup TA (https://github.com/DevShaft/Backup-TA/releases) if you want them.
* unlock your bootloader via flashtool(follow instructions from sony) the bootloader must be unlocked otherwise it wont let you flash it.
* get Carbon (https://get.carbonrom.org/device-sirius.html)
* Extract boot.img from the zip file (you will need it so your phone understands what you are trying to do)
@ * get magisk as superSu wont work on 8.1 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589) in case you want root privileges.
* dont get twrp 3.2.1 yet as for this phone its a bootloop guaranteed. the 2.8.2 version is already in Z2-lockeddualrecovery (below)
* reinstall Z2-loceddualrecovery (http://m.weiyoou.com/share/6168212.html) - if its gone.
* get gapps Arm-8.1 ,I recommend the full package (https://opengapps.org/)
* get recovery deadman (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329066004)
and sirius (https://mega.nz/#F!SYQxnRrb!ahC91yfNOmi8NVavJvuydw)
* !!! And finally get your modem drivers! Vietnamese version has 3G (above). Pitzmans may be too old.
You need Sony Xperia L50u BaseBand By Buyu.zip (made in China remember?)
(http://m.weiyoou.com/share/13293366.html) just scroll down and there they will be. This will enable 1 to 4G all baseband.
Put the zip files on your sd card(highly recommended), without an sd card twrp may crash and if you place them internally- something might get lost in process.
@ Note. Forget about 1 click rooters like Kingo/King/Root/Dr,fone etc. You only get headaches when you want to remove them. Most of the time its not possible the easy way and most of the time they have insufficient privilege sets.

Before we start follow this guide and create a PATH where your files are together with the extracted boot.img
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQN7db_SlzU) This will help you if you mess up your phone(brick it/bootloop etc) and need to re-reflash it to stock and start whole thing over.
Now follow this guide (http://www.teamandroid.com/2018/03/...eria-z2-carbonrom-6-1-oreo-custom-firmware/2/) up to step 8.
Step 9.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery-3.1.1-1-deadman.img
deadman will reboot your phone in recovery (like in the youtube above)
or
Code:
fastboot flash TWRP-Sirius.img
. If first dsn't work try the second.
Step 10. Once you are in twrp- click on Wipe -> Advanced Wipe and tick : System,Data, Dalvik, Cache -> Swipe!
Step 11. Flash CarbonRom zip. Add More Zips (don't reboot don't exit)
Step 12. Flash Sony Xperia L50u BaseBand By Buyu.zip (/../)
Step 13. Flash open_gapps-arm-8.1-full-20180602.zip (/../) (it takes a long long time don't worry)
Step 14. Flash Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip
Now you can Wipe "cache/dalvik" or not and reboot system.
First boot can take up to 10-15 min- don't worry! Also you have to touch the image(ball) after this time!- or you will be staring at it all day!

Congratulations!
You have now a working Sony Z2 Xperia on a Carbon ROM running Android 8.1 Oreo thus giving this phone more years!
On AnTuTu benchamark this phone now scores around 55k performance points (about 12k more then on Marshmallow 6.0.1 with ~43k)
Wait, I'm confused. The link you provided for converting L50u to D6503 is not available anymore, so should I just skip that step? Would the steps be,
- root my L50u
- intall dual recovery
and rest of your steps?
Pls I will need so much help here for the development of this phone,I have searched around the web but results are full of errors,
1. This device is shipped with android 8.1 and pass treble test
2. It has seamless update which means a/b partition
3. It is an Android one certified phone ,I will say it's the common and most widely used android one in Africa, but due to lack of know how and risk management, people hardly wanna develop for this phone ,because of the new a/b partition which both boot and recovery are merged into a single partition which makes it difficult for peoples even me to do something meaningful for this phone
3. Specwise it's mtkp23 , 3gb ram , 32gm rom, fhd+, with stock android owing to android one I mentioned above, to cut my story short,
No working twrp for this device as of now, all twrp i have loaded cant mount storage ,can't flash zip due to mounting errors and cant perform any functions like writing onto system,
The twrp i have lacks the option for a/b switching of slots like that of othe xiaomi a1 Android one. So pls i called on senior members here to help in the development and pls open a forum page like that of xiaomi a1 for development of this phone, pls , if anybody need anything on this phone i am ready cos it's d phone i am using,it's fast , stable but no functioning twrp, and mind u i am rooted with the of magisk , and i have full rom dump with me.thanks

Hello folks , I too have infinix note 5 and I'm using it for an year , and now it got android 10 update. Except the performance in gaming , everything is going well. I want to install a custom rom but it isn't possible due to A/B partitions. So any one can help us. We got bored using stock rom. And want to bring the full potential by flashing custom roms. thank you
