I would like to know if there is a way to completely shut off the screen when you close the flip and view the clock, because now the screen remains dark blue , not black ..
with some rom the screen goes black , with other remains dark blue .. depends on what?

This thread is little old, but if somebody keep searching for solution (to get full AMOLED background with clear cover case) it's quite simple (need root). Just need to edit "floating_feature.xml" file located in "etc" folder. Find line:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_SUPPORT_COLORED_CLEARCOVER_BG>TRUE</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_SUPPORT_COLORED_CLEARCOVER_BG>
and change "TRUE" to "FALSE":
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_SUPPORT_COLORED_CLEARCOVER_BG>FALSE</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_FRAMEWORK_SUPPORT_COLORED_CLEARCOVER_BG>
save file. Remember to keep permission 644 for this file. The easiest way is to copy this file to SD storage, edit, save, and boot to recovery (TWRP). Then with file manager copy/replace "floating_feature.xml" file from SD to "etc" folder in main storage + give CHMOD for file "644".

hey there...i was wondering if anyone could take a sec to help a n00b out...
i've been working on a rom (6.5 build 23544) using Ervius visual Kitchen for gene by BesFen for a few days...i've finally found all the packages i want and made a few ones myself...i made a test rom and its running well...
but there's still one huge hole left in my finished build...so i just needed some help i.e. needed to know a few things
1. where do i change the the default splash screen (the orange windows image) that pops up after the boot screen
2. where to replace the startup gif image and wav sound
3. how to set an external theme as my default and removing the inbuilt themes that come bundled with the 6.5 builds
4. how to change the default icons (i have an icon pack as well a cab file of the same)
5. if there is a way to set up a shutdown animation and splash screen in the kitchen before creating the rom
6. edit any other settings and tweaks while still in the kitchen phase
7. change the start menu icons for the softkey buttons and start menu
8. edit the taskbar and softkey bar to make it transparent on the today screen as well as inside the menu
9. remove default ringtones and replace them with our own
i tried searching the net and going through the posts here but i'm drawing blanks...
i'd appreciate any solutions that come my way!!
solutions!!
found a few solutions myself...a lil' help from the boards...
if anyone else is interested in them, here they are-
1. the splash screen can be changed by replacing the welcomehead.96.png in the "SYS\28230\dpi_96_resh_240_resv_320\COMMON\Redist_dpi_96_resh_240_resv_320\" folder file with your own
while you're at it, you could replace the complete.96.gif file too
*but make sure that you have edited your images to the correct format and resolution before making the changes
2. the animated.gif and bootuphtc.wav files in the "kitchen\OEM\OLDGENE\COMMON\OEMOPERATORS" folder can be replaced with your own
4. add your icons in the "kitchen\SYS\28230\dpi_96\COMMON\Base_DPI_96" folder thereby replacing the default icons
*make sure that the names of the icons you add to this folder is the same as the default icons
6. to change the rom's date and give it your own name, make changes in the "mxipupdate_OEMVERSION_100.provxml" file in the "kitchen\OEM\OLDGENE\COMMON\OEMVERSION" folder,
this can be done by opening the file in notepad and making your changes in the 'value' section
do correct me or suggest an easier method if known to you
as for problems 3,5,7,8 and 9...research and testing is underway...hope to get past that hurdle soon...
use the attached folder and put it inside OEM
solve your ringtone by editing the *.rgu file and initflashfiles.txt file available in this folder
solve your theme problem by editing the *.rgu file and initflashfiles.txt file available in this folder
Note: I have used two different mp3 file for ringtone n message notification

tried it out and yeah it works...thanx!!
any idea about gettin transparent task bars and menu bars??
i wanted to make them completely transparent, not transluscent...
i've gotten transluscent ones working in the start menu but i can't do anything about the today screen!!
i am also searching how to add new theme...but i found this is..

you could just add the theme you want ( in .tsk format) in the kitchen\SYS\Themes_Lang_0409_DPI_96_RESH_240_RESV_320 folder...
tried it out and worked well...
all you have to do is go into settings\today\ when the phone starts and select which one you want...
as for setting your own theme as default...clueless...
guessing you have to extract all files from the theme and place them in the kitchen\dpi_96\COMMON\Base_DPI_96 folder and edit dsm and rgu's from somewhere to set it as default
personally...i've found a loophole to the whole theme problem (pardon the pun) so i don't bother with it anymore
more solutions...
3. to remove the inbuilt themes like dvf green, vera wang red, etc. etc. just delete the theme_dpi_96 folder in the kitchen\SYS\23544\dpi_96\COMMON folder...
to add your own themes copy the .tsk files into the kitchen\SYS\23544\dpi_96_resh_240_resv_320\0409\Themes_Lang_0409_DPI_96_RESH_240_RESV_320 folder and delete the inbuilt .tsk files you'll find there
*NOTE*
for those who want to have a modified theme, i suggest editing the .png images in the folder mentioned below...the ones with "classicblue" "default" and "black" at the start of their name to your preference and leaving the classicblue.tsk file untouched so that this theme becomes your own in case you install another theme and want to go back to your edited theme
7. edit the .png images in the kitchen\SYS\23544\dpi_96\COMMON\Base_DPI_96 folder...
the softkey icons are the ones with names like default_toolbarIconBubbleButton.png...they're all around the same area, so easy to find...
for editing, i suggest using photoshop of you have it, else an easier alternative is the paint.net editor available at http://paint.net
8. now i couldn't get a transparent taskbar and softkey bar on the today screen without using titanium but i did manage to get it to be fractionally more translucent but editing the .png files found in the folder mentioned above
i'll attach the files if needed...
my ROM's coming along so i'll keep you posted with more solutions as they come along...have fun cooking!!
Suggestion
Remove all landscape theme files, bcs no-one uses the GENE in landscape mode and it will make the ROM lighter in weight

the rom i'm working on (and using for testing purposes) doesn't have landscape theme files...i've just added the wallpaper for kicks...
thanx for the input though...its weird getting 275 views and just 3 replies...
On every phone froyo and above, when you're on the phone, there's this green bar that moves across and fills the status bar over and over again. Is there any way to remove this or change it's color?

I've never seen that before.
--EDIT--
The status bar flashes green on the stock Photon ROM. Apparently it only does this when you have a call in the background and are doing something else. I was not aware you could do this on android phones.
For example, if you have WiFi on and receive a call (the 4G/3G/1xRTT radios are off during a call), put it on speakerphone, you can then talk to someone and surf the web (such as check on something for your caller)
Yes. This is known. But I didn't ask if you can use your device for other things while making a call.
What I asked was while in a call and the status bar is flashing green, can the flashing color be made to change to more match a theme? Can that bar be made blue or red or any other color? Can it be turned off? If so, how? Changing the color would be nice.
Is this another digging into frameworkres or is there an easier way? If this is a frameworkres thing, can anybody post details? And if it IS a frameworkres issue, has anyone made a good tool to work with it and if not a tool, a good roadmap for things to change? A tool would be nice and I'm guessing the android community might be developed enough that it's been done, hopefully?
I have edited this. You need to go into the SystemUI.apk.
1) Download 7zip
2) Install 7zip
3) Copy your SystemUI.apk to your computer
4) Open SystemUI.apk using 7zip (Open Archive)
5) at the same time extract your SystemUI.apk to your computer so you have the folder and archive window open side by side
6) In both folders, go to res/drawable-hdpi
7) Look for status_bar_background_animation1 though status_bar_background6
8) Change them in the extracted folder, and save
9) Drag the newly created images into the 7zip archive folder and then close it
10) move the SystemUI.apk to your sdcard
11) Move the file again to system/media
12) Change permissions by longpressing to RW-R-R
13) Move to system/app
14) Reboot, Enjoy!

thanks for the tutorial. but, how to disable that wallpaper altogether? will simply choosing another wallpaper and deleting the flower apk do?
it's taking up 32 MB of memory and i don't want it running on my device. i'm sure not everyone likes it, too. thanks.

I'm currently using a wallpaper on my phone that was originally from a picture file that I manually copied onto the SD card and placed in a folder I specifically created for such background wallpapers. I don't want to lose the wallpaper, but as far as I can tell that file is no longer in the backgrounds folder, so I'm guessing that if I change the background or theme on my phone, it will disappear. Obviously, the file is somewhere on the phone since the background remains in use, but I can't find it.
So...can someone tell me how to determine the location of the file currently being used as the background wallpaper?
Thanks!
PS - I'm running CM10.1.3.

That app definitely brought up more graphic files than my previous ones, but I still wasn't able to find it. The good news is that I finally managed to locate the same background elsewhere on the Internet and re-downloaded it, so all is well. I'll keep playing with this app, though. Looks like it might come in handy. Thanks for your help!
Ok finally did it, after posting more than one request and hoped senior members would answer, which they never did. So finally with some hiccups and couple of hours or work i got rid of the annyoing black cursor removed from the aokp 4.4.2 rom which by default has no option to turn of or change the cursor.
A tweak in a file albeit remove it, however completely remove the palm rejection function ! so that is even worse...
Anyways long story short....
the pointer cursor could be found inside system/ framework/ framework-res.apk ... now wait... you cant simply open up the framework-res.apk ! Only way to do so, is to get it pulled by adb , or with root explorer in a rooted phone. I used Es file explorer, mounted System as RW and copied the frame-res.apk to the desktop.
Then with win rar, i opened the frame-res.apk, located the pointer icons inside , res/drawable xxhdpi folder and res/drawable xhdpi folder. the name of the files are pointer_arrow.png. I made a pointer in photoshop with only 10 *16 pixel maybe and just a dot . then renamed the file as pointed_arrow.png and replaced the original .
Now close win rar... and copy it to phone system folder.
Now the important part... dont directly copy the modified framework-res.apk in system/framework directory. doing so will cause bootloop !!
Just selet the modified file , check properties and change permission . Like this
Rw-r-r ...
.. now copy and replace the original framework-res.apk with this one . Reboot your device and pull out your spen and draw near the screen.
Congratulations...you are black arrow BUG free
