came across app for amoled screen called pixel battery saver on play store
a different way to save battery..... worked well for me
Yep...it's good but my point is .... What is the use of super crispy display when we decrease the pixel density. For battery juice we have several other options. Like fast charging replaceable battery. Besides that in battery saving setting we have option to reduce brightness which is not so customizable as in the app but it works well.
Anyways, people may have different opinion on this.
Very good app! I use it for about a week now and i'm feeling the differences.

we don't need all super pixels all the time......
O used this app on my s4 and it ended up killing a few of my pixels completly... After that i never used it...

interesting...... I wonder how it would kill pixels...... the phone itself would be turning pixel off and on all the time... going from dark to bright on ongoing basis

Anyone else had this happen? The battery life really is better
What do you use for best battery savings white not degrading screen quality too much?
Also does it save more battery then simple grayscale mode?

I see what you're saying and I agree, however sometimes you just need to make it through the day, which for heavy users like myself is not an easy task on the Note 4.
I used to love this app, and was so disappointed when it got shut down. So I contacted the owners, bought it, and revitalized it this week. It's on the play store, called Checkerboard Pixel Mesh

Power bank or extra battery will help.
My phone last for a day with LTE connectivity all the time if there is no wIFI.
4 to 5 hours SOT with 15 to 17 hours of battery.
Im using eRobot 5.1.1 spaceX kernel.
This is now my 4th day and I am very satisfied.

Hi All,
I bought this beauty 4 days ago. Used a fully charged cycle ending last night. 49 hours Standby and 5 hours SOT. Sleeps like a charm and works like a beast.

Did you use AOD feature? While in dark room, does your entire screen has low visible backlight when using samsung native AOD?

Since this phone don't have LED indicator, I used AOD as replacement for notification. Actually, it's consume not much battery. With average usage I can get around 1 ~ 1.5 days of with SOT around 7 hour, with AOD automatically enable between 7am to 10pm.
The problem is, with AOD enable if I put it in dark room I can see a noticeable low visible light coming from the display panel. Even tho it's not hurt battery so much, it's not pleasant to the eye. With AMOLED, black background should be true black.
I have 2 unit of Galaxy J7 pro, both have the same issue. That is why I'm asking if you or other owner is having the same problem. Could be caused by Samsung's AOD implementation...

Actually this one is not bad, in fact it's quite all right with all the customizations. The problem is that it is closed by the system automatically. I gave the app special permissions so the battery optimizations do not affect it, yet again it is closed

I was just going to start a thread on this topic, but I'll reply to yours instead
I have the 3500mAh battery from Amazon an had been getting terrible battery life. I did a few things to improve it
- turn off display always on feature
- clear app Cache
- power off, pulled battery, reinsert battery, fully charge
Those seem to have improved overall screen on time performance to a little over 4 hours now. Hoping close to 5, but we'll see how it goes by end of day.
After a few days of improved and repeatable battery performance, I might re-enable the 'always on' feature and gauge it's impact.
I guess the 'official' line from LG is that it always-on impact on battery *should* be negligible, but I need to prove that out myself. Otherwise, I have a feeling it was contributing to my lackluster battery performance.
Good luck with your battery life?. I think LG should have stuck with an AMOLED display with the g5 especially if they wanted to have the always on display. With an IPS lcd panel, the backlight will always be on and the time and notifications would be unreadable (I think a led notification light was enough) but I'm glad they decided to use an AMOLED panel with the v30.
One of my friends(unscedeo) rooted his G5, used L Speed, and used a custom kernel (called Asgard reborn) and was able to get 5 hours of sot with the battery that comes with the phone and with the always on display enabled. If you're into rooting I would recommend you do that.

Nice! Thanks for the tip. I plan on doing this soon, but going to ride out the stock experience for a while.

Wanted to add that I have Bluetooth on 24/7 with Android Wear & Moto Body connected/running. WiFi is on and connected for about 2.5 hours of the day (mostly at home during morning and evening), but use cellular for most of the day.
Also, just turned on Pixel 2 Live Wallpapers, so pretty sure my battery life is all downhill from here

I think cellular data and Bluetooth might be responsible for battery drain. On my g5 plus I turned on my LTE for 5 minutes and it drained 1%. I agree the pixel wallpapers are buggy. I have a sd 625 and it significantly slows down the device and crashes Nova launcher. I think it's best to give the development some time.

I might have to disagree, Im pretty happy with my ips display and I would take it over amoled anyday even if it means having a lower battery life
And they used OLED panels for the v30 so oled by itself is power efficiency

I actually agree. Now looking back the only phone which I used that had an amoled display was my galaxy nexus and now I am kind of glad that my phone has in ips lcd display. One of the advantages is there is no screen burn-in.

If you want to root later have you tried the power saving mode under settings? have never owned a LG device but I think there's a quick toggle or it's buried somewhere in the battery settings .

I know right! The colors are so vibrant and so alive and it worth any sacrifice!
Every picture I take on my phone look so incredible through the display and once I watch my pictures on my computer TN display, it doesn't look as alive and kicking.
Unfortunately i suffer from screen burn in but it's whatever as long as it's not permanent, the display is still amazing! I love colors
I can't wait to have an oled screen, but that will be only in the future, my LG g5 is only recent and oled smartphones are still in their diaper stage, as the oled on the v30 and the iPhone 8 (which is yet still provided by lg) is POlED, which to apple's sayings, it's just an upgraded amoled screen with oled technology
I agree lcd displays ftw. I think you might have image retention and there's a simple fix for that. I believe there are different apps on the play store which will remove most to all of it. Good luck?
Haha yeah, I'm using Blue Filter app, it used to work outstandingly at the first half a year! But it seems to work less better and the ghosting is starting to suppress it, i by of course can higher my setting on the app but I don't want too much of a red/green/grey/yellow screen.. So i just might have to live along it's side!
Oh man. I think a blue light filter is a must. Try this app out. A lot of LG G5 users gave it 5 stars so it's worth a try:laugh:.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blasterbyte.burn_infix
Oh i have it, i have been using it haha
It's just that it's not working as much anymore since my screen burn in got worse
But thank you!
Oh man. You're welcome.
Hi,
Been using the Xperia 1 for 2 weeks,
the battery time is quite short for me.
I do most whatsapp, youtube
start working at 9am and around 2pm the phone is around 30ish %
I don't like using Stamina mode (the balance saving version), because i like the always on display (ambient display)
the power saving mode will save more battery however it will make the scrolling chopping which i hate the most
anyways, any bro out there been playing with the "background process limit"
the default is set as standard limit, if i reduce it to 2, will it really save battery or will make the phone not running properly.
or any other hint to save battery throughout a day like 9am to 9pm?
Display is always set to adaptive.
Wifi always on, in the working 9 hours will have over 6 hours with WIFI connection.
Battery life is awesome! Never had this before with a sony phone...
5 hours sot and still 30%
Be sure to use the "adaptive battery" thingy, seems usefull.

My previous phones were Huawei P20 and Mate 20 pro, can't compare to those.
So i compare with my more previous phones which i still own, the Samsung S8+
battery life is even less.
Is there a way to reduce the screen resolution? I know it is a bad move buying a 4k phone and reduce the resolution but i just want to see if it will help.
My other phones would allow me to select 1080 or 1440, but i don't see this option in Xperia 1

Phones mostly in 1080 so reducing it further won't make much difference to battery
Smartcleaner should be turned off. This causes the drain of battery.
I experienced a noticeable increase in battery life with Creator Mode disabled...
It fits me just right because you can't use Creator Mode an Night Light at the same time, and I use Night Light all the time...

With only 3300 mah and the best market display, the autonomy it has is incredible

How are people finding this huge 5000mah battery?
In all honesty, I was expecting a little better performance. Perhaps it's still too early to tell but I'm on my 3rd battery cycle, have "balanced" battery mode active, power saving feature applied to most apps other than essentials, don't have Facebook installed etc. Have rooted and also Universal Doze for magisk installed.
I'm currently on 10% with 5hr30min SOT. Granted, I have been listening to Spotify today but over WiFi.
Just doesn't seem to be blowing me away and not feeling like my battery is 25% bigger than my previous Xperia 1 ii, with the exact same setup/general usage. If anything feels the same size, maybe even less?!
Used BetterBatteryStats and nothing seems out of place there.
Will continue to monitor. Still extremely happy with this phone.
Hmm so quick update, I had Dual WiFi (blend of 2g/5ghz network) enabled previously however today it's now disabled.
I'm currently on 45 mins SOT and still at 97% battery!!
Anyone else any experience with this? I haven't changed any apps but seems this setting may have been the cause of high drain for me....
Will continue to monitor....
My battery life has been pretty good after a few cycles
Not bad. I keep it on mobile data most of the time. And i charge it only to 90% with a 500mAh charger. And i do have Facebook app, a Garmin smart watch and many synced accounts that run in the background
Not bad at all IMO. Received the phone today and it was at around 40 percent. Haven't charged yet. Refresh rate is on auto.

Overall, yeah I'm very happy with this phone.
Comparing the two:
- the speakers were better on the Xperia, front facing always wins as avoids you accidentally covering the bottom firing one up on the Zenfone plus the top earpiece one isn't great. But, it's still good enough and they sound decent to keep me happy
- the less wider feel on the Xperia was also very nice but I really don't mind the feel of the zenfonr
- the camera on the Xperia was very good, but I just didn't feel like I was amazed by the point and click usage. Which I know it was really aimed for Pro users, but still....
- for the Zenfone I love the feel of it. A very fast phone, great camera, I'm a big fan of the flip camera, very good selfies (more concerned about video calls as the Xperia has a horrible smoothening effect which they didn't fix)
-the led on the Xperia was very nice whereas there's not as many colours on the Zenfone
Ultimately one of the biggest factors for me is rom and gcam development. It was virtually non existent for the Xperia but I enjoy it too much to sacrifice it. Already there is a decent gcam for zenfone and havoc & omnirom are being worked on
So I guess it boils down to what matters the most to you. Both very good options to be honest!
My first cycle from 100% down to 0% (won't be doing this often). Auto refresh, mainly on wifi (95%), AOD off, balanced profile. Not bad > 7 hour SOT.
Edit: don't know why PNG screenies aren't working with attachments :/

Auto refresh rate as I said.
I'm gonna try turning wifi off and see how long the SOT is from 100%-0% using just 4G (5G is off as my carrier doesn't support it).
Might try forcing 90Hz on a separate occasion too.
5 hr 53 min SOT ON dual sim 4G only.
battery life is good. not as good as zen 6. However its a all day phone. Charges really fast. Fastest charge so far.
90Hz is noticeable.. Keep your NFC , Bluetooth and especially Location off to save allot more battery..
Overal the phone is a winner .. only major peoblem.. I cant seem find ANY info to get 4g or even 5g here in USA> I thin this phone is NOT compatible for USA cell bands.. I even brought it to att store and they couldnt ge it to work past 3g.
This battery could be better, Asus need optimize better the kernel. I have bad performance on game Genshin impact (drop frames) and bad standby, 6h it goes 3,5%, on my motorola edge plus it goes 1% with the same condition.
I had pretty bad standby at first but then I disabled all battery optimizations and got great standby. I think "Optiflex" was the cause of it. Just turn it off.

From using about 1% per hour to about 2% in 8 hours sleep. Check your APN also, I've seen some mention the phone does not use the right one automatically.
Going from the Zenfone 6 to this Zenfone 7, there is certainly a slight drop in battery endurance. The better chipset/hardware etc I don't feel explains the difference but it won't put me off the phone.
Just wish phone batteries would massively improve!
