[Discussion] Note 7 Battery Life - Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

I just got my Note 7 yesterday and so far I'm pretty happy with the battery life. It's a great improvement compared to my previous phone (iPhone 6+), though I'm still figuring out on things to do to make the battery last longer.

if you want the maximum battery life, then disable animations in the dev settings (look around to learn how to get there if you don't know. only saying it cause you said you came from iPhone and thus idk what knowledge you have on android lol).
Um, also use minimalist wallpapers with a dominate black aspect.. (as in, use a wallpaper that is mostly pure black, since with AMOLED screens, true black means the 'pixels' are turned off completely, thus saving you a tiny tiny bit in battery). Also just don't use live wallpapers in general.
Ummmmmmmmmm..... oh, don't keep the phone at 100% alot. I'm kind of a hypocrite with that one though. I keep mine around 100% all the time because I never know when I'll randomly be out of the house for the majority of the day. thus having a 'full' battery means possibly an extra 30 minutes to an hour of 'usage'. But this also means that the battery will not last as long later on during its life. It also produces its most stable power delivery around the 83-85% area, so that's where you get the best 'bang for your percentage' so to speak. You'll notice it stays in the 83-85% range alot longer than it does at any other percentage.
But all in all, just keep the brightness down to a reasonable level, don't install apps that constantly run in then background (for example, I recently started using a podcast app called Pocket Cast, and ever since installing it, my battery % at the end of the day is generally 60% less than usual. As in, i normally can end my work day with about 78% battery remaining during an 8 hour shift, but after using this app, i'll be lucky to make it out with 10-20% battery. It seems to hog the battery when you're using it as well as when you're not. So at this point, I'd highly NOT recommend using it, even though its such a pleasure to use. Wow this was a long side note haha.), don't use the phone if its hot or cold, and idk I mean, everything I've listed is pretty much everyday basic things. So I doubt you are someone who doesn't already know these things XD

Thank you for the very informative reply, i have been switching back and forth from iOS to Android (eversince the first iPhone the first Xperia X10)
It is indeed an awesome switch for me this year, i hated my iPhone 6+ and the more i use the note 7 the more i like it. Given that it isn't "perfect", it's keeping me satisfied so far.
Let them tips coming

Well the biggest tip I can give is this: GET A GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR.... if you don't, you will regret it within weeks. The "Gorilla Glass 5" screen is complete crap. It scratches easier than plastic screens.... most Gorilla Glass phones have a hardness of around 5, but the Note 7 is only a 2-3. Some people have their phones scratching at level 2, others level 3... level 3 is just slightly better than plastic, and level 2 is worse than plastic... So get proper screen protector for the front, probably one that is good to be used with a case if you plan on getting a case as well. I'll personally be getting a DBrand skin for the phone and a screen protector from a company called Myrax? I think that's what it is. lemme go check.
Myriann is who makes it =3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JFHA16G/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=KYMJDORDQX1V&coliid=I2ELMRA3UAHQMC&psc=1 and here's the link to its page. lol.

I thought the TGSP for the "edge" type phone is a hit and miss. I mostly read bad reviews about them and i think i only saw around 5 good reviews (or posts here) out of like 50 reviews

Have had mine for around 24 hours now and after a good charge after buying it, I got around 6.5hrs of SoT. Pretty happy with that. Only gonna get better haha.

The battery saving option really does work!

Move from 6s Plus to Note7, I'm not really happy with Note7 battery life. But I think it will improve in next two week. I aslo need UVable kernel to make phone cooler as I did on Note5

Will updating affect the "rootability" of the phone?

First run (52-0) I got 4hrs SOT during initial set up.
2nd most present run I got 6hrs 26mins (8% left) within 15hrs of usage, although I played Pokemon Go for 3hrs on max brightness which did some pretty hefty damage.
For those who want max battery life, this is what I've learned in my limited time:
- Download (buy) Package Disabler Pro (PDP) and disable the bloatware
- Disable the unnecessary sensor stuff throughout the settings app
- If you dont use Always On Display, disable it
- Disable Auto Brightness, and use the minimum brightness manually
- If you play Pokemon Go, download "Battery Saver for Go", it turns the display off when idle
- Enable MID Battery Saver mode with unchanged resolution, enabled Limit Performance, and disabled Prevent background network (if you stream or need it, otherwise enable it). Set max brightness to 80%
---- Be sure to re-enable Device Maintenence in PDP to get customisable power savings back.
- If you want, use the BLACKEST theme you can. I personally dont like any of them, so i kept to Samsungs stock theme
- DONT USE FB OR FB MESSENGER, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM etc. Use the web versions
- DONT USE CHROME. Samsungs Stock browser takes time to get used to, but its much more battery friendly
Without me playing Pokemon Go, I could have easily pushed for 7hrs SOT++ which is damn impressive for having the brightness at 80%.

Deenybird's ATT GS2 battery experience + recommendations

I've loved my Galaxy SII right from day 1, but the phone's battery life has made it a complicated relationship.... I'm hoping to share my experience as a heavy user and how i'm dealing with the battery.
My usage:
I would fall into the 'power user' category. I'm rooted, on stock 2.3.4 (the update to 2.3.6 was pushed to my phone, but obviously failed). I'm often streaming audio podcasts, using Waze (a social gps program), and checking twitter and online forums and the occasional email or text. Bit of youtube in there as well. Bluetooth is on 10% of the time, wifi always, screen 1 notch below max brightness, no 'fetching' widgets.
My last phone, the iphone 4 had better battery life, but not incredibly so. During heavy use I would get ~6 hours. Standby was closer to 20 hours. I still had to charge at some point during the day, but it's different with the GS2.
Let's take a look at the Battery Usage in Settings....

With 4 and a half hours of usage, i'm down to 13%. That means I'm up at 8:00AM, and by 1:00PM my phone is dead. It would almost be hilarious if it wasn't so sad... Charging has become a critical part of my daily routine. I'm using an external battery pack (more info below) and charge off a wall socket
Solution so far:
I've been using the Energizer XPAL4001, a 4000mah external battery for $58.00.
The thing is great, and I obviously wouldn't make it a full day without it. However it's a hassle to have to lug it around which is why i'm considering getting the extended battery which I was hoping to avoid by getting the external. But it looks like I do need both solutions.
Solutions I'm considering:
I'm about to pull the trigger on a3500mAh Extended Battery + Cover off of ebay. It's going for $11.00 with free shipping, so the price is certainly right.
What do you guys recommend? Has anyone tried the battery I'm looking at? It doesn't have NFC, but it's $11. I'd love to hear from other power users and how they're dealing with things.
PS. Still love my GS2
I'd recommend using your phone less!!
Try an i9100 rom, much better battery life.
You are expecting too much if you want it to last all day long with that much usage.
Doesn't look like your phone went into deep sleep not once.
Try flashing UnNamed 1.3.2 or 2.2.1 and a custom kernal and use SetCPU to lower clocks/volts.
This should help you in increasing the battery life a little more.

What about the Korean 2000mah battery? You can see my posts on this page for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281777&page=11
It would be helpful to know how much screen time you are getting. You can access this by clicking "Display" in the screens you have posted above. Your battery is dying incredibly quickly. If your screen time is less than 2.5 hours you may have a rogue app that is running up your cpu. Use CPU Spy and better battery stats to help diagnose.
Sounds like you are such a power user that you might want to consider one of the 3500mah batteries. If you don't mind the size that is. Search the accessories forum to make sure you order the right brand as some cause boot loops. You will also lose NFC.
Good luck!

I'm not expecting a full day of battery life, but 4 and a half hours of usage in undeniably on the short side. Thank you for the insight on deep sleep etc. I'm newish to android and appreciate a skilled user's input.
As for flashing a rom, I'm really waiting for an Ice cream sandwich release before going that route. I'm aware of underclocking etc but think that I might get better results by getting the extended battery.

Time on: 2h 57m 20s
I will look into those 2 apps.
This is what I have for today with better battery stats.
/\ were you using the GPS? I was for most of my 4 hours of life.
what were you doing with your 2 hour 26 min of screen on time?
Hmmmm, 3 hours of screen on time sounds about right for the battery life you are experiencing. As far as that particular battery, I'm not sure... I would play it safe and purchase one people are linking to in some of the threads that are confirmed as working. The other thing you have to consider is cover fit- which is another reason to go with one people have posted experience with in one of the "Accessories" threads.
BTW: Not sure but the Waze app may be utlize GPS in a way that it consumes more battery than it posts in your battery usage. Not sure though.
Also, are you leaving the screen on unnecessarily, like while listening to a podcast. That's a pretty intense amount of screen usage for such a short period.
Let me know what you decide
Just for Reference
Here's my usage with the 2000mah Korean Battery.
Screen is off during podcasts, on during GPS. Waze affects my battery about as much as the google Maps/Navigation app.
As for the battery, I've heard others buying batteries that have been $50 and up, I could buy 4 of the ones i'm looking at for that price.
Someone out there must have tried this battery before.... I'd like to hear what they say first.

I highly recommend flashing a UnNamed or ShoStock since it removes bloat and also SetCPU to lower the volts and set some profiles.
You said your new to android, so listen to others that have used it longer.
PS. Ice Cream Sandwich will be a while so don't hold your breath...

I use gps for about a minute today. Most of my screen on time is messaging web surfing facebook and twitter
Was your screen at max brightness or autobrightness? Autobrightness tends to set the screen way too bright.
After all, your battery history indicates 74% of the usage was display - so I think you may just have the brightness way up.
Full brightness + GPS + CPU usage is brutal on the battery, that brings total current consumption to somewhere around 650 mA. (On the Infuse, the battery would slowly discharge with a 600 mA charger at fullbright + GPS. The GSII just barely keeps ahead with 650 mA charge current.)
I'm getting between 26-32 hrs with the config in my sig.

Alot of good advice in this thread! I highlighted above what I think is killing your battery. Go with a debloated stock like ROM, research a bit on cpu schedulers and go with a conservative one, turn the brightness down and you will be on your way to duplicating your battery life. ;
Use Siyah kernel and the Thunderbolt (TB) script. They'll do wonders for your battery. As for brightness use auto or half way. We're lucky to have such boss screen with crazy brightness. anything above 70% hurts my eyes in doors lol. Auto should be 90% effective for your day to day use. Also try to avoid apps that sync or fetch data constantly and set things to push or to auto-update every 3-6hrs instead of 15min-1hr. Those murder ur battery.

I'm considering this, but I'm going to see what kind of increase I get off an extended battery alone first.

[Q] Battery use: how longer will we be able to use SGS3 in comparison with SGS2?

Yes, SGS3 battery is bigger, but the screen is bigger two, 4 cores of CPU and a more power hungry GPU, then Smart Stay eye tracking will be using front camera, that should drain battery as well...
So bigger battery could serve the extra changes from SGS2 and SGS3 would probably stay out of wires or induction charging for the same time as SGS2?
What do you say?
MicroSIM - does it use less power than SIM?
Its actually kinda useless when it comes to discussion like this as no one has the phone in their hands yet. Filling the pages with speculation and assumption will simply set a good/bad reputation to the mobile itself.
Id like to see this thread come alive after the release
cheers
i was getting 30-40 hours out of my gs2 running stock at&t. i would think the gs3 would do the same even with the added goodness. but even with the induction charging... i would imagine we will still need an extra battery or wired charger plugged in. there will always be times when the battery gets low and have to be charged while using it.
The photo I've seen looks like a mini sim, not micro sim.
No idea how the battery would be but the Samsung HK-MG 32nm process looks very promising, based on it's implementation in the iPad2,4 revision. More info:
http://www.androidnz.net/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s3-secrets-revealed.html
Don't think the "camera tracking" will take up much power either, they could probably just make due with a snapshot every 5 minutes(or when it would normally go into standby) or so and do facial recognition.
I was hoping for a battery close to the RAZR MAXX
Now that the battery is 2100, then i'm hoping that users will be able to control all new features. By that i mean turn them on and off. I really don't care for the many new features that Samsung has come up with. If it was possible I would replace Samsung's modified Android version with a Out of the box version like on Galaxy Nexus. Personally i was hoping that Motorola soon would come out with a new Quad Core phone with their 3300 battery.
Currently the one S with a 2x battery ap holds a decent amount battery battery with smart use of connection and other features by default, so I would have thought that it would work nicely on the bigger sg3. However I'm planning to have a 2nd battery handy and not worry about running out at any point.
sent with HTC1S
I'm hoping for an extended battery that adds a little to the phone. Maybe a 2750 or even 3300. Also to the gut who said Motorola one with quad. Don't, Motorola is terrible with their lies about bootloaders abd updating.
Samsung does a pretty good job at power management, I think battery life will be good especially with that 2100 Mah battery and the fact that the SoC is based on 32nm so less power used. We should be able to get a full day pretty easily.

It's over a period of 30 minutes, which seems to suggest an approximate battery lifetime of around 5-6 hours with the display on.
This is not really a bad thing but simply due to powering such a large display, but really most phones seem to get around 5-7 hours these days.
The Galaxy Nexus have the same "problem", but as I recall the Nexus also had some of the best idle/no display battery lifetime i.e. Only taxing antennas and processors.

See the battery lifetime for the gsm version during talk or hotspot sharing the Nexus easily have some of the best performance there.

Much work has been done in terms of energy efficiency, battery 2100 mAh, and the device works like my day with a fairly thick load. What will happen in the commercial samples, I can not judge, more importantly, that time has grown and it is noticeable to the eye. On the other hand, to take advantage of this, it is necessary to disable all of the additional and not very necessary function. First of all: thank you very much for this news!
As I said: The same old story!
I like to be able to choose whether or not activate a function.. BUT WHY Samsung put it there?
Marketing!
Even a child would understand that a camera that follows your eyes constantly consumes battery!

The point is in that a sgs3 has better battery stats compared to htc 1x. That's all.

Battery Life - Is it as bad as some people make out?

Pretty much as the title says really. There are some horror stories about the device not even lasting a full day with average use.
Not really when I can get 5 hours of screen time

You decide for yourself. I don't think that its horrible. Avg use will usually put me at 30% or so at the end of the day. Including social networking, browsing web, text messaging, minimal gaming

If your a heavy user chances are you wont get a full day, but thats most phones. I bought a extended battery case for mine from at&t and I get a full day and more with that. But if you use it for basic text and calling and a little internet here and there you should be fine!
Avg use throughout the day

thats about what im getting too.
I think both the enlarged battery and JB increased the battery life substantially, as an avid anime watcher, i often use my phone for 720p playback for long sittings (lasting from 1-3 hours) and the batery only loses around 20-25% with the screen about 10-20% brightness which btw is decent enough for most indoor environments (the one x+ still has a bright display despite being a tad dimmer the og one x). Coming from an evo 3d the battery life is about 50% better and about the same if not slightly better than my father`s galaxy siii. Standby is very good and the phone copes well with web browsing as well however don`t expect great battery life during gaming. All in all i am very satisfied.

Ditto. Ditto.
With average use like making a phone call send a text message and occasionally checking the internet or use my phone as remote for my wdtvlive hub and wifi always on i now on 33 % battery capacity with 2 days 9 hours of time. Must say have have energy saver on.
Also checked it with heavy use. One day i had to go to a city by train. So went out the house with google music streaming on my bike. At the train station the train arrived , i sat down and started to surf the net (all still with google music streaming) Arrived in eindhoven and started up google maps to see were i had to be. Walked for a mile and a half all navigated by maps. (still with google music streaming ). When going back home started up maps to see were the train station was and started up google music again. Back in the train watched some youtube (now with google music off offcourse ) back in my place on my bike google music again till i was at home i still had 45 % battery capacity.
So im happy with this stats !
My battery life is pretty good, actually.
At first, when I received my One X+ I even thought of returning it in, and maybe buy a SIII.
BUT... after 1 month, the battery is perfect and lasts 1 day without charging mid-day.
However, I let my One X+ run out of battery completely before fully charing it the first four days.
Guys I am a heavy user and I love to play hd games a lot for prolonged duration's.
On sIII battery used to last a whole day atleast using phone non stop ,is htc one x+ for users such as me???
I mean I just love sense but so far didn't buy bcoz of horrible battery issues I got from experienced mates who were using htc smartphones.
Iam now happy with battery life i get - my average using i get almost 2days (power saver on, i swich off some times when needed).
The thing is when i first got my phone i taught i will return it coz bat didn't even last 1 day with low usage, BUT the problem was - i didnt discharge hone till 0% till it swichs off, - calibrate battery!
So yeah calibrate your battery first! If you are rooted you can do it with app for store, but if not (like me for now tho) just discharge it from full charged 100% like 3 times till it swiches off.
Is it okay to fully discharge your phone 3 times in a row???
Actually I have a decent battery life on my X+, 16-18 hrs a day, but I never discharge it until the phone shut down by itself
I get good battery life. Usually a full day.

I don't think you should do that. You should only fully let your battery die around once or twice a MONTH. I just usually want until my battery is 20-30 percent to plug it in

So there are a lot of variables to this. My experience is that if you don't need to use more than one email account, don't have that email account set up as an exchange account then the avg user will probably have good battery life.
If you're like me and have three exchange email accounts set up, then battery life is ridiculously horrible. This is compounded by the fact that on the at&t version you can't turn off LTE and force the device into HSPA+ (3G) mode, even when you have the device rooted and on a custom rom.
I have gone back to my original One X for the moment and will let the smart folks here continue to tweak the device. It took about 4 months after the original One X was released to get a fairly bullet proof set up that worked well and had decent battery life.
MG
Had the phone for about a month now. With background sync on, and over 150 apps installed my phone runs on average use for about 15 hrs, now that means usually when I'm out during the day. To me, that's fine, considering it lasts much longer than my previous HTC Desire, which had horrible battery life. While heavily gaming and browsing, the phone may last from about 2:40 to less than 4 hrs. While watching hd movies it held out close to 4 hrs, while the standby time I found to be fantastic! All in all, I'm pleased, considering the high end hardware it packs

What do you consider 'good' battery life?

Last time I checked mine at around 3%, it had been on for 1 day, 18 hours and 7 minutes, with the screen on for 6 and a half hours.
I was also playing Shadowgun: Deadzone for about half an hour, as well as several other lighter games, and using Archos Player to watch videos off a LAN server on my laptop.
That's on stock rooted and unlocked bootloader.
So, what would you consider good battery life for your N10?

Probably 14+ hours of constant use like some of the smart phones (like the droid razr max). Probably unrealistic with a 10 inch 2560x1600 resolution. At least for now.
On the nexus 10 on a good charge cycle I can get 10 hours of consistent use including games, movie, and surfing the web.

I'm 100% out of the box stock and usually get 5-6 hours screen on time and the total on time can be anywhere from 1-3days. I usually keep location services off unless needed.

I never let it drop down to more than around 30%, simply because the battery lasts me very long. I get a week with screen-on times of 5 hours or so. I don't play games, I use it mainly for browsing, email, PDF reading and some note/todo apps. If there are power-hungry apps, the battery drops much faster - but if not, I feel it lasts forever, especially in standby, even with all sorts of stuff syncing in the background.
Unplugged my N10 from charge this morning at around half 7 and went to school and when I got back at around half 4, I had only lost 1% of charge. That was a very pleasant surprise! I was expecting to lose 5% AT LEAST

The only phone that comes close to 14 hours of screen on time is that single phone you mentioned. So it is far from the norm and is not considered "good" but is considered "great". Good category would be 7-9 hours.
My tablet can get over 13 hours of screen on time:

Looks like I could do between 14-15 hours of screen on time before it completely died. I consider this to be really good. Displays take up a ton of power and the fact that we can have a 10" screen and still get more than half a day of constant, straight use if quite impressive to me.

Just curious of your settings, kernel and ROM...etc? Ive never seen anyone break 10 hours of screen time...even myself when I was undervolted using ktoonz kernel and governors lose 10% an hour which would translate to 10 hours of screen time. No gaming involved because that kill's the battery.
If your using ktoonz kernel would you mind posting your settings so I could take a look? Wouldn't mind more screen time personally . Thanks in advance!

My Tab2 10.1 had impressive battery life. Standby power draw was minimal and simple tasks like surfing the net gave me much better battery life than my N10. I'd be happier if they could match it what I could see on the Tab2. I know there isn't a number associated with that so take it fwiw.

It was on for just very small bits when syncing stuff. I leave it off almost always as it creates too much heat when playing heavy games and brings throttling on a lot harder, and I have no use for the extra power drain when I am reading a book, which is what I do most on the tablet these days. But I realize not everyone has the same habits as I do and does very different things. So leaving wifi off almost all the time isnt an option for some people.
The ROM is CM10 from WAY back when by Craig. I think it was built is mid to late November? I honestly still find it perfectly adequate for my needs and very stable. I keep coming back to it from all the other ROMs I have tried.
Kernel was a build of the KTManta kernel from ktoonsez, build was sometime in December towards Christmas time. It was the build right before he added touchboost to most of the governors. I am not a fan of touchboost as it has greatly lowered my battery life, but it sure does make things smooth I use that kernel because I can undervolt both CPU and GPU. I was using the PegasusQ governor, which the stock settings for it in this kernel as the ones I asked ktoonsez to put in so you dont need to modify the settings for any special tweaking. I did however lower max speed to 1.2GHz as that is plenty when doing most things.
Here is a remade config file with pretty close to the same options I had used, but compatible with the newest 1-29-13 build of the kernel and tweaker app:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?geaveoa5tj43zpo
I say pretty close to the same because I increased CPU and GPU voltages a bit in that config so everyone should be able to run it. Many would most likely have a problem with the config otherwise as the majority of users seem to not be able to undervolt their GPU hardly at all.

My iPad 3 got around 14 hours of constant use before it died so I more than cut my battery life in half going to the Nexus 10. I get around 5.5-6 hours of screen on time on my Nexus 10. I use the lowest brightness setting when I use my tablet. I'd love it if my Nexus 10 had better battery life but it is what it is. Maybe I'll sell it if Samsung comes out with a new Note tablet.

Ohhh is that what happened? I had some great battery life going on for a while when I first tried ktmanta back in December, and have been feeling kind of frustrated after "losing" it and not understanding why. Would you be able to share that version of the kernel so I could do some comparing?
just remembered he recently added the ability to disable touch boost for the gpu and cpu. Going to try that out and see if it improves battery life.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
You can set touchboost to 0 in any governor and it will be turned off.
Ktoonservative is the only governor with a touchboost for both CPU and GPU. Very smooth, but ramping both up drains more battery. So you definitely wont get into that "great" range on battery life when using it. But at least it doesnt tank the battery so you can still get some decent life with it on.
Wish I had 10 hours straight to be on my tablet..... Thought I used mine intensively, but I only plug mine in at night. Use it for streaming video(rental movies.. Not really youtube) and a few hours online. Maybe 6 hours a day.. Never come close to getting near 40 percent or less.
I've been using my Nexus 10 for work and play today. About 13.5 hours on battery so far, about 6 hours screen on time, and my battery is at 57%. Screen brightness has been at 50% all day. This is pretty typical experience for me. Stock ROM and kernel, except for being unlocked and rooted.
... beamed from my Nexus 10 to your planet
I'm at 6 hrs of screen time and 12 hrs of standby time and the battery is at 37%. Running on stock everything with unlocked bootloader and root. I use it at 0% brightness almost all the time and have everything except NFC turned on.
I'm on course for 9 hrs of screen time but I think I should be doing better considering I'm using it at low brightness. Do you guys think using custom kernel will make a difference?

First True Battery Stats with GSAM and On Screen Time

I was able to get 5.5 hours of on screen time with the phone being on for 17 hours.
That is with a mix of youtube, phone calls, small amount of Netflix for testing, watching a movie from SD Card.
I left the Wifi on the whole time as you can see with one of the screen shots. I did have on Stamina mode.
This was after letting my phone charge the first time to full and not plugging in again. The down time with the phone not being used was because I left it on while I slept. In 8 hours the phone only dropped 8% while I slept (very good).
So to answer a lot of questions about the battery, it is AWESOME!

Could you give us a bit better test , like more usage , I mean screen time is great but you barely did anything in t he phone , 41% of app usage is nothing , 1 min of phone call is also nothing.
Don't get me wrong I'm interested into xzu but I'd like to see regular / intensive usage , also could you tell us which brightness you were using ?

This was Web surfing, watching Netflix, you tubing, etc. It never just sat with screen on. I actually used it the whole time.
Screen brightness was about 30% the whole time.
With the screen at 30% brightness, was the perceived brightness level pretty good? Maybe a little low? I'm curious to know, because I suspect lower brightness settings than usual will be satisfactory with this display.
Screen brightness is good. Although I have not tested it outside in the sunlight. I am going on a canoe trip tomorrow so I will be able to test the waterproof and brightness out
**** dude, be careful, lol. I'm sure the phone will be fine in the water, but I'd hate for it to slip out of your pocket and be gone down the river! You'd never find it. Makes me sick just to think of, lol.
Anyway, I am definitely getting the LTE version of this when it becomes available. Thanks for the battery and display insights.

The battery capacity won't be at max after just one or two cycles. Use it for a full week and then see how it performs.
So far for me, I am down to 24% after 10 hours. I won't make it through the day since I"m still up for 5 more hours. This was on moderate usage. With Stamina Mode Enabled.

- three emails
- checked facebook twice, and instagram twice
- watched 20 minutes of youtube tho

I don't know, over 3.5 hours screen on time with 17% remaining seems pretty good to me. I haven't really done any formal tests, but I don't seem to get much more than about 3 hours screen on time with my Nexus 4 period, let alone with almost 20% remaining, and I can always make it through a day. This is would be an upgrade for me. The most telling thing, however, is the screen brightness. About where did you have it set?

Battery life seems to be totally acceptable, I never saw a powerful smartphone able to survive an heavy use for a full day or maybe at its time only the Nokia 6310i able to last 4/5 days of heavy use, but it was a tiny monochrome screen for a big phone and huge battery. And yet there i still no ROM/Kernel available so the battery life can be optimized.
But a question, what about the charging time?
