hello
i use my sd card as portable and after updating to latest snapshot i have noticed that the file manager is still showing /storage/emulated/0 which used to be gone in earlier snapshot after choosing sd as portable. now many apps cant find the right path to sd and using this /storage/emulated/0 as external which is actually internal storage. is there any solution?

+ i just deleted the external_sd folder from my internal sd card it was supposed to enter my external sd card from there i deleted it becouse it had 0 space that`s what it said now how do i view my external sd???
i still didn`t resolve the problem :-??
On teamhacksung's ROM (and on many other such as CyanogenMod) your external sdcard is mounted in a different path: you can find it in "/mnt/emmc/" or "/emmc/".

thanks a lot!!!!
Hello guys, i've a quick question about the external sdcard path, it used to be sdcard/external_sd in i9100 but now it has been changed to mnt/extSdCard due to which CWM somehow did a backup in the external sdcard successfully, but now when i try to restore from external sd card it gives an error and doesnt go through. any ideas? Is this going to be a problem of any kind at any point?
Strange. I have my nandroid backup on external sd and works flawlessly when I restore.

try updating the cf root to latest version
Both the internal memory and external are now named SD cards.
The path of the internal is /mnt/sdcard and the external sd is mnt/extSdCard.
For you to flash something from CWM they need to be stored in the mnt/extSDcard and not the internal one.
When using file expert you can get to mnt/extsdcard by going into internal memory and then mnt and so on which is strange.
Hope it helps.
Sorry wrong post.

Ok the Cwm problem has been solved as now i can backup and restore from the sd card (Thanks to Bala_gamer) but what about the apps, i cant move them to sd card because of the new path to external sd. apps2sd and gl to sd dont work, so i get to fill up my 16 gigs in 2 days of purchase whereas i have 58 gigs free on my micro sd card.. and this is an issue already being discussed on other forums and threads,, what will be the solution to it anyone?? i also read an article by chainfire that google is blocking the installation of the apps to external sd maybe, so this is worrying me
Hi folks! I'm quite new to android so if this is a real noob question where i could have found the answer by myself by doing a little searching (which i did, without much luck) please delete this thread (or point me in the right direction )
I recently got an ACER Liquid Gallant E350 running ICS. According to the specs it should have 4 GB internal storage and of course space for an microSD-card.
However when i check "storage" i have 1GB "internal storage" and 1,6GB "USB storage" and then there is my 32GB microSD card that shows it has 29,23GB.
The thing is the 1,6GB USB storage is seen as a SD-card by the system and also called sdcard when i check with file manager. My 32GB microSD is called sdcard2.
So when i tell the system to install to sdcard it will install to that 1,6GB USB storage (which is almost full!) and i cant find a way to force it to install it to the real SD-card.
Even with app 2 sd it will try to copy the apps to that 1.6GB USB storage and (as far as i can tell) i cant tell it to use the other (real) SD-card.
Is there some sort of fix or work around for this? Did ACER mess up by naming the internal storage sdcard?
I think you have to edit the script to do that manually. Find out the name of the sdcard2 partition, and put that in place of the sdcard partition which is currently in the script. You may need to clear & reflash everything, then flash your customized a2sd script.
Also make sure you've established what partitions you want on the microSD card, and how they are to be formatted.
Ah that sound like more work than i expected. Also i dont think there is a tool yet to backup the ROM for this phone
So i guess im kinda screwed for now. Isn't there an easy way to maybe symlink the data folder to the SD card? (i think it's the android folder isn't it?)
Hello, when you go to storage in settings you have 2 options. 1 is usb storage. This is for sd card 1. 2 is option sd card 2. Mark this one and all will go to sd card 2.

hello, i have the same problem with my acer liquid gallant duo (os4.0.3), when i go to storage in settings in preferred install location i have 3 options:
-internal storage
-USB storage (sdcard1)
-let the system decide
it doesnt have the sdcard2 option..
I have tried the Directory Bind ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262 ) and it works but first you have to install it in usb storage(sdcard1) and then move it to sdcard2 and if an app is biger than 1,5gb you cant install it in the first place coze you only have 1,4gb of free space in usb storage(sdcard1)..
in ROM MANAGER i have seen an option that it sais partition sd card, i will read more about it and i will check it out
this is the first android phone that i have and i am new to this
Hi all!!
I also have the Gallant Duo, I love it! But this thing about not being able to move apks to the external sd (sdcard2) is very annoyning? Is there any solution apart from directory bind? Like this one f.e. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/choose-your-own-storage-with-folders-plug/. Does anyone know if this works? Also, does anyone have a modified vold.fstab file with the sdcard2 as internal sd and internal as external?
Looking for an answer to this question i didn't found it here, but i think here should be an answer.
What worked for me:
use the app External 2 internal from the app store.
Check use per default:
The original internal mounting point: /mnt/sdcard
The original external mounting point: /mnt/sdcard2
The ext. sdcard device access: /dev/block/vold/179:25 I'm not sure about this setting, i just looked in the folder and this was the highest number. so more information about this is welcome
With these settings i've good results. But after some reboot's with "at boot**" (no init.d support needed) i lost access to my sdcard, in fact every one.. When I restored my ROM(super stock ROM) using CMW everything worked fine again, no loss of data or whatsoever, and external 2 internal worked again till now.
But now i'm wondering why the boys and girls from super stock ROM didn't fix this upfront..?
Hello,
I have installed Cyanogenmod version 10.1 on my S2.
The rom looks good. I only have one problem. I can't access my external SD card.
When I go to system, storage I see there the SD, and how much of it is filled, but I can't access it in any way nor any installed sw.
I have a backup that is on my external SD, when I want to do restore, I can't since it will not see the external sd.
Can anyone please help me?

Happened to me on both internal and external cards women first booted. Try booting again, keep the screen alive while your phone boots up. It worked for me

Go inside storage and there u will find the sdcard0 and sdcard1
For me it says sdcard (Internal sdcard), and the extsdcard (external sdcard). But you can find them in the Storage folder.
Happy New Year.
Thank you friends,
I might have not understood you all...when I go to file manager or mybackup-pro, I can't see the external sd card (nor the sw see's it, nor I with the file explorer).
Only when I got to system/storage I see that the device see's it (I can see the storage of the sd and how much is filled).
However, I can't access it, nor my sw installed.
Please let me know how you resolved it?
Thank you,

Ignore the built in file manager and install "File Manager" from Google Play and use that instead.
Same problem here.
Using another file manager will not solve the problem of Apollo crashing if you have music files on that external sd card.
The whole system can not access the card.
In Settings->Storage it say: SD Card -> Available XX GB
But there is no statistics about what is on there.
The whole system is not able to pick anything up from that sd card without having root access.
Why?!
Go to recovery and fix permissions.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
Thx, but that is not working, dude :/
Seems like Apollo was crashing because of one of my songs on the SD card.
The other situation is still there. No detailed information about the content of the external sd card in settings -> storage.
Maybe it is default behavior?!
Unable to see External SDCard
Via Win 7 PC, using USB, I can see 3 Drives on Motorola Droid Razr 1/Moto Drive 2/Internal Storage 3/External SDCard (32gb) I can see and access all files on any of these drives.
Once disconnected from USB, I go to Storage and CAN see the same above. However, when using any File Manager software, and not connected via USB, I can't even see the EXT. SD Card, and therefore can't access any files on that drive/card.
I recently received official JB pggicial OTA from Moto.
simpleeeeeee!
i too had this problem! galley, and music players were not able to access the data of memory card! i just put back all the data again after formatting the memory card! and it workedddddd... so simple!
hit thanks if i helped:victory::victory:
I had the exact problem. All I did was go into the "General Setting" from Settings, and changed the app from Safe mode to Root Access Mode. Hope this helps.

hi,
I installed paranoid android yesterday (3.97), all went smooth but when I tried to open the camera it said I dont have an external SD and closed. after checking it out (in settings->storage) it seems the OS labeled my card as internal. all the applications require external SD to work.... so im kind of stuck. I tried third party tools such as remountSD and DirectoryBind with no luck, I even tried creating symlinks to /storage/sdcard1 from /emmc, /storage/sdcard0/external_sd and every location I thought could be useful again with no luck.
I tried installing different versions of PA, and even some versions of cyanogen but they all show the SD card as internal....
is there a way to force apps to run from the internal SD? or to link the external dir to the internal one?
any thoughts?
thanks
