Soft Bricked My Tablet, Trying to Recover It (need help) - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I first began tinkering with phones and tablets and rooting, I did not fully grasp risks and the sensitivity of flashing ROMs.
I had attempted to flash a custom ROM on a Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet from Verizon. It failed and soft-bricked. I am attempting to recover it now, flashing the stock ROM back on and restoring it to factory settings; with my new knowledge in this area I can now do it successfully.
But I do not know how to recovery a soft-bricked device and was wondering if anyone here could kindly give me a quick run-through with links to tools and the stock firmware. It seems no matter where I search the guides are scattered and vague and I do not feel right following them.
I simply need the necessary tools to interact and flash the stock ROM on this device. I'd need to do so through a computer as there is no interface on the tablet, just the LED lights and vibration that give it signs of life. If anyone knows where the tools/equipment is, I'd appreciate it. I just want to download and get this out of the way. Also, if anyone knows a solid guide for the tablet I would also appreciate it.
Thank you.

[Q] Soft bricked

I apologize up front if this is has been previously asked. I found lots of helpful info on here searching through old threads but being a bit of a luddite I was a bit confused exactly which situation applied to me. I live in China and recently bought a s3 I9300I and attempted to root it using the chainfire method from the video on this site. Odin declared success but when the phone rebooted it just went back to download mode with a message at top saying, "Could not do normal boot, ODIN MODE." Turning it off and on, removing battery and retrying Odin flash produce no results. The most important thing of course is just to get the phone back to functioning but I'd also like it rooted if at all possible. I read that using Odin to install a custom kernel would root it and I would not be at all opposed to a good custom kernel. I read something about a binary counter that may need to be reset but that seemed to require doing something with the actual phone functions which don't seem to work. Odin still recognizes it when I plug it in and attempts to let me redo the rooting but it just shows a progress bar then reboots right back into download mode. Sorry if this is basic stuff but I'm kind of terrified of bricking this thing and am just not sure what the best course of action is here. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Chinese stock firmware is different to the international, there is a special thread in general forum on rooting etc.
Do you have a link to that thread? I have looked and cannot find anything that seems specific to this problem.
Please. Searching for "China" or "Chinese" gets me absolutely no relevant results. If this has already been covered can someone please direct me to the thread. I really need to get this phone working and am at a loss. Thanks.

[Q] Overwhelmed: Pop C1 custom ROM installation

Hiya
I have an Alcatel Onetouch Pop C1 4015D (and for the record, I'm never buying this brand or similar junk again). I just got it un-bricked after a few months thanks to the online USB firmware updater. It's currently in pretty much its factory-default state again, preinstalled crapware and all.
What I'd like to do is install a custom ROM on it, to have a clean system I can actually enjoy owning, e.g. AOSP (if that is what I think it is: the basic, clean Android system). The problem is that I'm getting a little overwhelmed with information, tutorials linking to more tutorials, tutorials linking to downloads for which I have to "complete a survey" and such (abort abort abort), 2 different tutorials for the same thing stating different ADB commands, a few outright scams, etc etc etc. There's tons of information out there, but 90% of it seems wrong, irrelevant, device-specific or otherwise unusable. I've already spent hours on this and still haven't gotten anywhere.
I'd be very grateful if someone actually reliable could walk me through the entire, correct process, please. :fingers-crossed:
I'm just going to write down the bits and pieces of info I already have:
I've already rooted it with Framaroot; no problems there, superuser works.
I've found this site that lists several ROMs, presumably specifically for the C1, including the standard ROM and a cleaned version: tinyurl dot com/o24wqoe. The AOSP one strikes my fancy and is on my SD card already.
The same site says I can just put the provided ROMs on my SD and install them as updates via stock recovery, but I highly doubt that because I read everywhere you specifically can't do that. Sounds like fake advice to me.
I'm told I'd need to unlock my bootloader, but once in fastboot/bootloader mode none of the offered fastboot unlock commands really do anything. The "..." appears in my console and then nothing.
I've tried installing TWRP and CWM recoveries, but you know, "your device is not supported". There's this video of a C1 with a custom recovery (watch?v=_TGgXIp3fWM) and the comments claim it's CTRecovery, but I can't even find anything about that. I already submitted requests for a fix for my device to twrp and cwm half a year ago before I bricked this thing, and one person promised he was gonna make a build for me, but nothing came from any of that.
I think that's just about all the useful things I can extract from this whole mess of information I have...
Please help me make sense of this overload of info and device-specific shenanigans, and walk me through what seems to be such a simple process for everyone with a mainstream device?
For the record, I'm back down to barely being up-to-date on what is what anymore. I'm more than familiar enough with the theoretical side (bootloaders, partitions, bios, etc) because of my heavy computer usage (professional programmer), but once I get into Android I'm just lost. All that fancy terminology nobody seems to bother to explain, things that are taken for granted but aren't really obvious (like a guy demonstrating the installation of a custom ROM, and only mentioning 10 minutes into the excessively long video that you need to install a custom this and custom that first), so many alternative methods for the same thing that have different dependencies (unlocking bootloader vs custom recovery), etc... I don't know anymore what's device-specific and what isn't, who is telling the truth, what a given tutorial is actually making me achieve in the end, etc. TL;DR I'm lost, I'm not stupid but I'm not gonna pretend to know anything about Android's subsystems anymore at this point.
wow u wrote a full post and u speaked for me as have the same problem
Custom recover
i have made a recovery for the 4015x
and got one of the roms to work
(and a fixed stock recovery)
there are 6 versions of this phone and at least two different partition tables that ive seen
but getting it back from softbrick id use the "mobile upgrade s 4.1.1" from the alcatel site
alcatel, mobiles, all mobiles, pop c1, support and on the right hand side down load the program and follow
this forces a stock rom back on the phone (no root and all data wiped)
im waighting on the mods to let me post links so i can host the roms and recoverys
but if you want to mess with the roms your self you can edit the partition tables and get the roms to install.
id use the app "diskinfo" to check what partitions your system and data etc etc are useing and chainge this in the roms.
hope this helped
p.s. if not i could poss look at editing the aosp rom for you and host if for a bit
just waighting on beeing able to post links :s

I'm Not Even Sure What This Is SONY XPERIA Z2 TABLET -VERIZON- POSSIBLE BRICK?

Hey guys, please forgive me for any bad etiquette or lack of information (any information I can provide is available upon request if I leave anything out). I am new to forums in general and especially to XDA, which seems like a good place to get help.
I recently purchased a Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet from Craigslist under the assumption it was a fully unlocked tablet not associated to a carrier. Turns out it was a Verizon Z2 tablet. I dislike Verizon with a firey passion and without getting into too many details, I'm fairly certain they won't help me because a) this tablet wasn't purchased through them as a customer and b) Verizon and I have bad history (unauthorized account modification, shady charges, etc.)
So I thought I'd do my best to make the tablet mine since the asshole who sold it to me has ceased all contact and I don't know how to get a hold of him anymore. No receipt and a data-less tablet.
Anyway, I successfully rooted the tablet and began installing apps that I installed for my G4 when I rooted it (SuperSU, Adaway, Greenify, etc.)
Things were going well but I realised I wanted anything that had to do with Verizon removed from the tablet so I was going to flash Cyanogenmod onto it with a guide I found online. Now rooting and installing custom recoveries was familiar territory and I did these flawlessly. It had TWRP and I made a backup of the system -no Nandroid, sadly-and I began the flashing process. The process said it completed without issue and I went to reboot my device. Enter my current situation:
The device, when I attempted to turn it on, all it did was vibrate constantly until I let go of the power button. Attempting to enter recovery mode (green LED, power + vol down) it showed me, instead of TWRP, a very basic recovery mode with basic options. "Continue booting up", "enter safe mode", "system recovery", and "power down". I tried entering safe mode and it just shut back down, I tried doing a system recovery and it shut down. The only time I ever see the "SONY" logo is if I'm entering this mode. I can enter what I assume is "fastboot mode" (power + vol up and plugging the device into a PC). Nothing on the screen but the LED is blue. I am trying to find guides to restore it if I can and it all looks promising but the only things I know how to really do are root and install custom recovery. I know there are PC tools I can use to send commands to it while it's in fastboot, or send commands in general I just don't know where to begin.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I know it was from Verizon, which sucks, and I know the problem most likely occurred with the attempted flashing of Cyanogenmod. I think I read somewhere I might have done something regarding mismatching kernal numbers. I couldn't find a way to unlock the bootloader so I assume that had something to do with it too.
If someone could give me a guide to restore it to at least its stock ROM where I can begin rooting and installing a custom recovery again, that would be great. Even better would be just flashing a ROM on there that doesn't need Verizon or being able to take it to a stage where it's unlocked and the only evidence it was ever with a carrier is the Verizon logo on the back. I'd really hate to think I wasted money on this and now I'm at a dead end because of a mistake I made. This was supposed to be a gift for my mom on her birthday which is coming up soon. So if anyone knows anything, or has a guide where we can at least get the thing bootable again and I'll just try and deal with a rooted locked device, that would be great.
Thanks for considerations,
Marmalade_Shaws
I have spent time on that screen too.
2 things
1. .. If you installed dual recovery, there is an up, down sequence to select the recovery.
2. Find a downgrade guide, use flashtool to flash. Ft back to stock.
Also you need to know what hardware you are running..511, 561.. And use the proper version.
There are some options with the flashtool and prf maker that can remove branding and vendor stuff. I have not tried those options.

Sorry if this is late... But where can I find the stock? I've searched everywhere and I would need to do it from a flash tool on my PC? I could use all the help I can get.
I just had a very similar experience to the OP, seemingly identical in every way, and am curious if anyone has a solution.
ADB won't function at all, and the bootloader has blocked any sort of flashing via fastboot. Can't boot into TWRP, it goes into a very minimal "recovery," which I imagine is the stock tool, and the Factory Restore option there does absolutely nothing. Flashtool would work great if ADB / Flashmode was at all functional (device blinks and vibrates in a fashion typical of something bricked, and no connection is picked up).
Verizon Z2 Tablets are 561s.
This thing dead or is there some way to push back onto it?

How to install Custom Rom for O+8.92 Android phone?

Hello Everyone,
I am newly registered member so I'm still clueless about the site so pardon me for having a thread (that might be existing alreadt) also I have so many questions in mind.
My device which is O+8.92 Android phone has an issue where when playing games that involves multi touch there are times that two touch points will freeze as I observed this bug it goes off in 10seconds or once you turned off the screen and turn it on which isnt good when playing.
Another thing is I've came acrossed with the idea of custom ROMs so I know a bit of it but totally clueless how to apply it into this phone.
Now my questions are
-If I install a custom ROM for this device is there any risk of the phone that wont work anymore?
-Can I do the whole Custom ROM installation without PC?
-Can someone point me or send me a link on where to find a step-by-step guide about installing custom ROM?
I am really clueless towards this but as long as I have a detailed guide its easy for me to pick up things so thanks in advance and I appreciate it

Restoring the Stock ROM (or rooted/debloated) to a Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

I did a quick search of the forums and even contacted Sony because someone told me they could help and I believed them.
Anyway I parted ways with Verizon after a disagreement but got to keep my Xperia Ztab 2 I bought from them. I rooted and debloated it but when I attempted to install a custom ROM and realized I'd picked the wrong one it was too late and the tablet soft bricked.
This is my first time dealing with a failed root and soft-bricked device. I've dealt with root and flashing and installing recoveries but this is my first experience with a soft brick.
I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a resolution. The device can only be interacted with through the hardware buttons and there is no user interface. When it turns on it vibrates incessantly and there's an LED light. I was told it was recoverable but I don't know how to do it. I know I need a compatible stock or rooted ROM but I don't know which steps to take.
Can someone help me find the proper ROM and give me a list of steps I should take (or reference me to one)?
Thanks guys.
Basically I just want to get the stock back so I can begin the rooting process again. Does it have to be Verizon at this point or with it the way it is can the international ROM work?
If anyone has ideas or could help I'd appreciate it.
Use flashtool to flash an ftf file to it. Use xperifrm to download the files to create one. Just Google for guides for both of those pieces of software. Hold down the volume down button and when the guide tells you to connect it you plug it in with the button still held down.
